The world is full of assholes my friend. Watch some of the game warden shows on tv. They get guys shooting the robo deer all the time.
-
I don't understand your confusion. Drive down any country road and eventually you'll come upon field upon field where all the red neck needs to do is pull over, rest the rifle on the door window and take a 200 to 300 yard shot to poach a deer. Not many guys doing that with 9mm glocks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I'm no lawyer but I believe a complaint and anything in their line of site (your kennel) would be enough for probable cause. They didn't kick your door down... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You can get an lcp for under $300. Great snappy little .380

These things are almost always inside jobs
-
Honestly a simple doctors note. Sure guys would bend the rules, but those guys are probably shooting illegally anyhow. Don't make it hard and make it legal for 60 and up.
-
Or we could make it easy for elderly and disabled?

The issue with .22 is penetration on a heavy winter/leather jacket. Still better than nothing but not sure I'd feel great about it
-
Ha I used to have one of those as a teen. I have no idea what happened to it
-
Gotcha. Like others said I think it's more of a conservation law then anything anti-gun.
-
so lets put in guns and f up everyone else right?
-
When guys post their handgun pics I see a lot with watches, knives, phones etc. Every vehicle I own has a multi-tool and I had a keychain knife at one time but got sick of the weight. What do you guys carry? Also include penlights if you have one you like.

welcome to the internet

lets not derail this. but it's not that simple http://www.ishn.com/articles/88292-vpps-star-dims-in-obama-administration-630

you'd think so, but somehow it gets allocated to "other" needs. pisses you off really.

technically his dad's safe but it still sucks. guns have great sentimental value. money can't replace that. I may never shoot another deer with my browning slug gun now that we're rifle but I'd never think of selling it.

I honestly believe it's the animal rights groups that are stopping more programs like this. It's a win, win for everyone. One guy manages the program and I don't think he breaks his back. So there's little to no cost for the town, accidents and angry home owners decrease and a bunch of hunters who may not have great land to hunt get to fill their freezer. I've spoken to the manager a few times and he's mentioned some issues with a few guys not turning in jaw bones and a few others shooting only bucks but they got booted.
-
so I'll bite. Why do you want a loaded long gun? traditionally my understanding is this law helps to enforce and prevent spotlighters and road shooters. If your bolt action rifle or even your turkey gun serve as your defense then you're doing it wrong.
-
It's actually pretty basic. All hunters follow state hunting regulations. The city however, is now allowing select hunting within it's boundaries which is typically off limits (think parts of monroe, LI, NT etc.). The only land that can be hunted is public or land where homeowners ask for hunters. You must pass a proficiency test with your bow and also a written exam. You establish contact with the landowner to discuss their wishes on parking, access etc. You check in every deer and must harvest 3 doe before you even think about a buck. and even then statewide ARs remain in affect. There are some rules about bagging the deer but in the south I don't think many worry about it. It's a great way to fill the freezer and potentially bag a trophy suburban deer. Personally I wouldn't consider a somewhat tame 10 pointer a trophy, but that's another subject.

I know you don't want something else to carry, but sometimes tools that are designed for 2 jobs sacrifice certain things. Your buck knife is a fine ass knife. I'd recommend a small folding saw. I have an ameristep that's light and plastic (so not super durable) but it easily fits in my fanny pack.
-
But yet it does. Because you can hunt with a gun during bow season if you're a youth. These are man made laws. They don't typically make sense.

Spent a few hours last night reading and watching videos on the subject. Of course with anything there are a few horror stories about why you should def keep one in the chamber and a few mistakes/dummies regarding why you shouldn't. As an owner of 2 striker fired pistols with no manual safety I'm still a little uneasy, but may work towards keeping one in the pipe. The key is to retrain my mind for this though. Otherwise it could end poorly. What's even more interesting is the discussion on 1911's and different conditions. I just bought a full size kimber SS and don't plan to carry, but it's certainly an interesting topic.

it's funny when you think about it. Typically liberal states are heavy on fines and enforcement. Almost 10 years in EHS and I can tell you many stories. Obama even came out and slashed OSHA's budget and insisted they enforce and fine more to make up for it. Politics aside, in MS it's basically $1k+ for any game violation. The issue we have is actually getting a warden to come out and do it.
-
So if he's armed and you know it, my point is round or no round in the chamber you might not want to pull your gun. He's already got the jump on you. If he's armed and you're both in holsters I guess we have a Wild West draw? Lol. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

totally with you. It's a decision I've struggled with. I honestly believe for the majority of situations a civilian would get into (not a LEO), simply pulling the gun is going to do enough.
