  1. There are certainly flag supporters who are racist. There are probably anti-flag supporters who aren't racist. The point is the anti-gay, flag supporting crowd tend to be a narrow minded group stuck in the past. They give conservatives a bad name and as a result we will be stuck with Hillary. My point about pictures is that none of these guys are man enough to show their face. It's easy to talk trash behind a keyboard and none of them would ever own up to it in real life. Heck half of them have never even posted a picture of them and a deer.
  2. That's for you and anyone else to decide. We've asked Papist to post a picture of himself or at least tell us what he does for a living and we always get crickets. I bet not one of the flag fliers would share their personal info and I always wondered if it's because they feel invincible behind their keyboards. The Internet has created a generation of people willing to talk a ton of shit they would never say to someone's face.
  3. Because it's easy to change your avatar and no history of avatars once they're changed I wanted to make a mental note of some of our outstanding members. Figured I would share with you all. These are just screen grabs on a public forum and nothing more, so if some day someone links you to these pictures, don't come after me. It was your call to fly the flag.
  4. better employers have short and long term disability programs which allow for pregnant woman to use up to 26 weeks of short term so long as their doctor is keeping them out. No sick time burning required.
  5. i'll agree with some of you that the flag should not be removed from any battlegrounds or museums or monuments where it serves as a memory. We shouldn't necessarily celebrate the civil war, but we should never forget, or we're doomed to make the same mistakes.
  6. Did the part about me living in Mississippi just go right over your head or are you truly that blind?
  7. employers have the ability to either accommodate or not accommodate restrictions for any injury or illness. Employers must be fair and consistent when deciding what they can and cannot accommodate. When it comes to ADA cases however most companies have to make a reasonable effort to accommodate the disability. So if a billion dollar corporation states they cannot put in wheelchair ramps because they don't have the money, they lose the court case every time. If joe's upholstery shop makes the same claim, chances are Joe wins. ADA and disability are not black and white. I've been involved in dozens in my career. At the end of the day, you as an employer can send someone out to collect short or long term disability or you can keep them on the clock filing papers so long as the doctor, employer and employee are on the same page it all works out. But documenting everything is your key to not getting an EEOC claim.
  8. Woman and Men are both protected under FMLA for maternity and paternity time.
  9. That doesn't make any sense at all. Would you fly the nazi flag under the same logic? #2 is a federal crime I believe, and maybe I need more coffee because I'm missing your point. How many times must I repeat myself, it has nothing to do with the flag. Yes, many years ago it represented something different. What it represents now is a dark time in our nations history and symbolizes hate. Most of you keyboard warriors have never even been to the south on vacation and here you are flying flags. Man some of the good ole boys down here would have a chuckle at you.
  10. i hunt public land down south and a good handhelp garmin was worth every penny. I got deep off the 4 wheeler paths and shot a nice 9 point. It's amazing really how short a distance most guys go from their truck.
  11. If it's the process by how the law was changed, I can agree with you. I strongly dislike how the left has a hold of social media and their tendency to knee jerk when it comes to flags and gun rights. There is a lot of hypocrisy as well. They seem to pick and choose which freedoms are ok to tamper with. That's total and utter bs. They also seem to think it's fine to call any southerner, christian or country boy every name under the sun for their beliefs, but absolutely loose their shit when the reverse takes place. However, it's my understanding that the gay rights vote did go through proper channels. What's popular is not always right either. Woman's rights and black rights never would have been voted in by popular vote. this is a solid watch https://www.facebook.com/conservative50plus/videos/10153142898460873/?pnref=story
  12. Many sites ban political discussion altogether for this very reason. It's not censorship, it's a private message board and I believe at one point this place did a good job of limiting the amount of it. There are certainly dozen of political boards to post on should one choose. I actually enjoy a debate here and there, but this is just too much. I think someone pointed it out earlier. We have a lot of anti-hunter lurkers. They can and very well might absolutely take some of these threads to help fit their agenda of who they believe a "hunter" is.
  13. there are some pretty light kicking calibers that will do the job before you get up to the .380 though, and they have more knockdown power than the .22.
  14. man this thread really does do a lot to perpetuate the stereotype we hunters get. some of you should be ashamed. It strikes me odd that those who oppose gay marriage are also supporting the confederate flag, which clearly is a symbol of slavery and racism whether you feel it should be or not. 90% of you wouldn't say any of what you're typing on your keyboards to a black or gay person's face and that's the other truly sad part.
  15. We butt heads a lot but politically you and I are pretty well aligned. I'm 100% with you on big government, the government cheese and rules and regulations being a big, big issue in our country. But I view the government allowing gays to marry as the exact opposite. They are now "butting out" of your business and letting you do as you wish. It's the same thing we all are asking for when it comes to gun control. View this as a win for government de-regulating and stop viewing it as a loss for your religious beliefs. You can still go to church on Sundays and your neighbor can still go to to temple and your other neighbor can still pray to Mecca 5 times a day and the other guy down the road can go to his cabin in the woods and poke dolls with needles. That's what makes America great.
  16. tax maps and being nice and asking are the basics. Following that there are many ways, but in the end some people don't want you hunting their property because they're not fans of hunters, not fans of hunting or they themselves hunt. Some of your fence sitter property owners just need some money, chores, venison or a bottle of wine to sweeten the deal. Be advised though, if you find a good piece of land chances are someones hunting it or has tried. NY has one of the highest hunters per square mile ratios in the country. But don't just assume because sometimes you'd be surprised. It's like asking a girl on a date, no harm in asking.
  17. welcome to the site and good luck. lot of bowhunters can be a solitary group when it comes to getting in the woods, but finding some guys to learn off of and practice with should be easy.
  18. for a quick second i thought the deer on the right had giant sabres coming out of its head! haha.
  19. Very well aware of the left. Very much disgusted by extreme lefts as much as I am by the extreme right. However, I don't feel the need to regurgitate everything i read online to a bunch of hunters who prefer to talk about hunting, fishing, camping and occasionally some political stuff. Last I checked most of us hunt to get away from it all. It's just enough man. You're not swaying anyone's beliefs on this website. It's to the point where I'm sure not alone when I say I get less and less likely to open up this site with the abundance of political posts. We've been around and around this. You can't just "look past it". I know 90% of us use our news feed. This morning I see nothing but confederate flags on the feed of a NEW YORK website. In the Mississippi hunting forums (check out our state flag). 1 thread! 1! How hard is that?
  20. to me this topic is the same as broadhead selection. You can kill a deer with a field point but increase your odds with a good broadhead. You can kill a deer smelling like a goat, but increase your odds smelling like nothing. You increase your odds of a good kill with a .270 and greater... than why not? i wont tell you what to do, but please make sure you're confident in your abilities, a small miss could be bad for both you and the deer.
  21. Honestly, I chuckle that a bunch of yankees are flying the battle flag that flung round balls at your ancestors.
