I received 3 free fruit trees (pear, plum and peach) and bought an apple tree. They're 1 to 2 in range. They're free but I'd like to get them to produce fruit. I've had orchards in the past but they're mature. Fencing is really not an option because of where they are on the property, it would be an eyesore. I live in the burbs on an acre... so anyone had any luck with the repellent sprays? these trees have been deer free for a month but the last 2 weeks have been rough. They're getting all the low branches and it pisses me off.

totally agree. But sounds like it's bs.

That's still an opinion and it's all relative based on budget.

Same here, but many do.

Peer pressure is a hell of a drug.

don't be silly. The solution is not to take the attitude of "who care what jimmy and joey do". Peer pressure is a hell of a drug. Not condoning sloppy riding, hunting, gun safety etc. helps to make those mindsets unpopular. Statistics have shown kids are smoking less. Not because it's illegal, but because it's no longer as cool as it use to be. That's my point.

And yet my point is, my insurance goes up every time one of them does. So the actions of others do affect you. Every kid who shoots up a school affects you.

Look's like our back tags may be a thing of the past?

You know something too, we bitch a lot on here about the government controlling us and telling us what to do. Could you imagine if this was a new proposal? 3/4 of this site would be up in arms about the government being ant-hunters and trying to track us and what not... but because it's been around forever we just accept it. -

I've never felt it to be an inconvenience either, I have noticed it can make some noise against a tree if you turn the right away and that would be my only complaint, bu it's minor. Just that it really didn't make sense. I keep my license on me in my pouch for proof. should be good enough. -
amen to that... but it's still a reality. It's the same argument as the motorcycle helmet laws that will go on till the end of time.

If you pull up the harvest reports you'll see MS data missing or estimated. We're not the only state that does this, but keep in mind the hunter density here is nothing like NY. I will say, if you hunt a public land managed area, you have to sign in and out each day and report your harvest with a bunch of data on the harvest and also the jaw bone. It's kind of a pain but a good way to manage the areas. The state also has ARs throughout. -
what if our ban happy government deemed them too dangerous though and made them illegal?

that has to be rare, and honestly silly on their part. If you're committing a crime; why wear a backtag? lol -

Mississippi is a joke. No carcass tags or reporting. In my opinion, that's too far. -
Anything over a couple grand can be financed these days. I'll generally sign up for the 12 month 0 financing. As long as I know I can pay it off before the interest. Mowers, TV, appliances etc. all common. A low interest loan on a $10k utv doesn't seem like a huge deal. Especially if you're using it for plowing, lawn work, farming hunting etc. if it's a garage queen except a few weekends a year that's silly. High interest loans are what baffle me. Know a guy that took out a loan on a $10k motorcycle at 20%apr. wow.

Other people killing themselves does affect you. Your insurance rates, rules and laws. Remember 3 wheelers? Remember not needing seat belts? Get enough idiots doing things and they'll come for yours. It's gun control at another level.Precious house had dirt bike track boarding my property. Perfectly legal but annoying as hell. Not very neighborly but it is what it is right?

My point in no way reflects the topic, but is a general statement. I have certainly been critical of some styles and methods. No arguing that. Hunting public land now has given me even more ammo to become frustrated with some hunting styles, and yes this does include me in my stand at dawn and watching and hearing a quad ride through. But I resign to the fact that I'm hunting public land and I get over it. But the same number of posts about hunters bitching about other hunters are countered by those hunters whining that they're not seeing deer. It always amazes me to see the same guys who say "I'll hunt how I want" that might be the same guys who don't practice scent control, ride their quad into the woods or don't do any pre-season work be the same guys who bitch about not seeing deer or complain when someone gets on them for how they hunt. In my opinion. The "Where are all the deer" posts are why some guys here give others a hard time.

who wears their back tag anyhow? -
I enjoy the exercise part of hunting so I don't use one, however there's some times I'd give a leg to have one help me drag a deer out. i'm amazed at the short distances I've seen some able bodied guys drive on one to get to a stand.

love your pics man. keep em coming!

I bring a nesting hen, feeding hen and jake with me. they're light and i have a bag to carry them. I prefer to set them up. Sit for a while, and then I'll get up and move. They work for me. Not a fan of the Tom decoy... that doesn't seem to work for my skill and land I hunt.
-
Honestly, I just breast them out.

I've said my peace. The thread has run its course.

You are a lucky man. I'd be happy to fill both tags but might be bummed to be done so soon. Congrats! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
