I own many guns. I belong to the NRA. Your extremist attitude and the extremist views of the anti-gun group is the problem. It's the problem with politics in general. Everyone is so entrenched that they refuse to budge and common sense laws never become reality, and goofy do nothing laws do. As to your comment, I don't see what your statement of people's guns being take for nonviolent acts has anything to do with the subject of this post where a guy shot a dog and left it in the ditch to die. If the answer is so obvious why do you feel that pets have more rights than humans? Clearly the value of the humans life is greater as the penalty for taking one is higher. Doc, You'd make a hell of a politician. You didn't even come close to answering my question. Please try again. What penalty is worse? 1. I left NY over a year ago. I enjoy all the freedoms of the second amendment. I'm not sure what your point is. 2. It's our understanding that this dog was tresspassing and nothing more. So please, explain why the dog deserved to die; instead of following the law and reporting the issue to the police and animal control. I've already mentioned how I've personally experienced someon lose their dog via the courts. I'm confused then. what does this mean?
-
Let's use your same analogy. You shoot and kill the guy dumping in your yard who poses no threat to you. Which penalty is worse, shooting the dog or the human?
-
What you fail to realize is that not all hunters believe in a free for all.Regardless, you still said shooting a dog, regardless of why was a non-violent act lol. I don't even need to go any further.
-
Call the police, animal control etc. I actually sat in court for a speeding ticket once and saw a lady lose her dog for repeated violations.
-
Removed from some nonviolent use. Post of the year right there.

at the end of the day, boots, shoes, sandals and any footwear will fit some better than others. we're all made differently. And if we weren't, how boring would life be?
-
where did you get the information that I'm legally powerless as a homeowner to stop your dog from running around my property?
-
Nobody is defending bad and irresponsible pet ownership Doc. I don't think anyone is saying dogs have more rights than humans either. But if the dog wasn't threatening anyone then he shouldn't have been shot. Yes there's probably history, but nowhere in the stories from grow did it appear he was attacking anyone or anything.

I've had some barb wire and big thorns rip the neoprene, but they still don't leak. You can see the seam starting to give but it's still warm and no water.
-
Not to start a fight, but every small bush or tall grass you brush against leaves scent. It's amazing seeing a deer cut your tracks no matter how careful you've been.
-
this is exactly on point. If i'm going to do some serious hiking or any sort of steep terrain, I'm going with my rocky lace up boots. Cant cross any water with them but the support is amazing. But for hunting, especially deer you don't want leather. It holds scent. Most of my deer and turkey hunting doesn't require miles of hiking and almost all the spots I hunt have some streams. My woodymax keep me warm and they dont sweat in most cases weather I'm sitting or hiking. I've had my pair at lest 8 years now. There are some cuts in the neoprene but they still dont leak. If you consider you're spending ~$150 for a pair and you can get 10 years or so out of them, the price isn't so bad. My leather lace up hiking boots get much less wear and tear and they're on their way out.

I'm not sure what's so complicated here. Yes we might not have all the facts, but it appears the guy lost his cool after a dog shit in his yard. These things happen. Some people are just wrong and there's no more discussion needed. Like I said earlier, the owner clearly could have prevented this. I doubt it was the first time the dog got loose.
-
I love my mucks. They do have a loose fit to them, so maybe that's something you didn't want or expect. They absolutely feel different than a tightly laced leather boot. Maybe give them some time to break in. I do wear big socks while wearing mine.

Running over a dog intentionally is a crime. You will go in front of a judge. Depending on your driving record, you very well may lose your privilege to drive. In fact even hitting a dog on accident and not reporting to the suspected owner is illegal. I would argue though, that taking someones driving privilege away for life is quite a hard sell. Cars are used to get from work, school and to buy groceries. You could take my guns away and I wouldn't lose my livelihood. I'd be very upset, I'd be concerned about my ability to defend my home, but i would not lose my job or be unable to buy groceries to feed my family. iirc, in Canada if you're caught drunk driving they crush your car. I'm not sure how I feel about that law, bu it does put the car and gun analogy on a similar level. My opinion is that both gun ownership and driving a car are privileges. Prove you can't follow the rules with either and you lose them.

I will second what culver said though... shooting a pet is not being a responsible gun owner and while I hate to see someone have a lapse in judgement and lose their rights... I still see this as self inflicted and perhaps now he doesn't make the same mistake. If it was buckshot, I doubt he was firing a warning shot. A .22 would have been a much better choice for a warning shot... or heck even a good boot to the dog's ass.

I'll be home in wedding in early june, so I'll just miss the cut. Saving some vacation for the end of october though

Sounds like the dog owner wasn't responsible or didn't train his dog well. There's no excuse for that. BUT, if you shoot my dog, the loss of your guns would be the least of your worries.

Season came to end for me this past weekend. All in all I enjoyed the season. had good action just didn't get any shots or couldn't get them to commit. The damaged mueller optic was a low point. New bushnell patterned well and feels solid. Mueller is selling me a new reflex for $50 which i hope to recoup some cost on ebay. not perfect, but good enough 20 yards 40 yards

what it's all about right there!

That's a great first deer, let alone first bow! Congrats and welcome.

So here is what I've heard from this thread. I'm sure wnybuck will explain how I misread... 1. Concert to raise awareness for gun safety and mental health is really a gun grab 2. We should no longer have schools as gun free zones because in the 60's I hunted rabbits with my teachers using a single shot 20 gauge, and instead of being at work, I'd be there with my CC to prevent the massacre. 3. We should arm our teachers, so long as they have a CC and no additional training. Forgetting that most teachers are liberals and have never held a gun let alone fired one... They go to school for 6 years to be underpaid and should also be required to serve as security guards. Should they refuse? They cannot be a teacher. 4. Most guys with gun safes leave their keys and combos in easy spots to find. I for one keep my bedside safe key in my long gun cabinet (finger combo) and vise versa. 5. A door lockout would prevent someone from just breaking the glass or getting in through a window. 6. The sawed off shotgun is more lethal than a 30round AR. 7. You can't prevent or decrease illegal gun sales, so remove all legislation and background checks. 8. We should ignore we live in a different world where many kids come from broken homes and have mental issues and we should not raise awareness for these kids... We should just follow communist China's path and prevent breeding. No constitutional issues there of course. 9. Hunters who own guns and would like to see some level of control are worse people than the Antigun group. What'd I miss? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
