Oxford, MS where I live has a suburban archery program. You sign up, take a written and accuracy test and are assigned some land that an owner has asked to be hunted. Essentially you have to take 3 doe before you can shoot a buck and have to follow some basic rules. I assume the conditions will be similar to the show Chasing Tail that was on history without being as extreme. I'm thinking of doing it to help fill the freezer... and because I've seen some nice bucks early morning in my backyard. I live in the burbs but have an acre and it's not uncommon to have 5 to 10 deer in my front or back yard... sometimes eating my fruit trees. These shots were a few days ago. Kind of a cool experience for my boy to see them so close. Would you sign up?

there isn't anyone on this sight against hunting and firearm discussions. Stop being silly. -
that's enough to get the fever to set in early!

lets compare Me: Papist and VJP who do you work for? -
I have a pretty nice browning 12 gauge gold edition deer hunter. The kick on that thing compared to a 30-06 is night and day. Thinking i need anything less is sort of funny. The only reason I went bigger than 270 was in case I wanted to hunt a bear or something bigger. Otherwise, I think 270 is the perfect whitetail round. this picture below should be enough to make you step up to the .243 or .270

So besides copying and pasting what are you really doing? What does the constant posting accomplish? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
There is something about doing it all yourself from start to finish. I spent the first 15 years hunting well scouted private land and stands that had been "handed" to me. The most satisfying deer I've ever harvested may be the doe I shot on public land in MS last year. It was all me from start to finish. The 9 point s few weeks later was just the cherry on top. This is what my newsfeed looks like this morning... Certainly appears to be a site devoted to NY hunting Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I think there's not a North American game I'm not interested in. I have zero interest in Africa. I suppose if I had to pick it'd be archery elk followed by moose. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Best solution yet. I like to know about the safe act and conservation and regulation changes. Not that Hillary and bin laden planned 9/11 together with our tax dollars. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

That's what you don't get, most of us care very much. But if you read the "why do you hunt" threads you'll most of us do it to escape. So it's annoying having it constantly shoved in your face. Especially when it's the same thing over and over. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
fried gator bites are some of the best eats around. I had a bunch when I was down in new orleans and baton rouge. a little chewy but delicious.

we had a 9 hour drive so I had to really breeze. I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

shows up on mine. don't weep little man. -
Had a business trip to Kansas City this week and drove through Springfield. The 4 of us determined there was no way we could pass it up and it did not disappoint. I'm told it's the largest one in the country but I can't verify that. The place is home to an NRA firearm museum and Archery Hall of Fame. If you're ever near the place make some time to go in. You could easily spend a day there and your little ones wouldn't get bored.

it's not censorship if it's a private business. Fox chooses which programs to air, so does NBC and CBS. The purpose of this site is to make money, and it does so because we all visit it and generate money through ads. We should all do burm a favor and click a few anyhow, the provider of the education/entertainment value of this board has a right to "show" what he wants. Furthermore, if I can't swear (in the rules), how is that not censorship? Maybe we want more new members and are concerned about the site's direction? Is it bad to care? I'm a Catholic registered republican, conservative voting gun owning red meat eating American. The extreme right embarrasses me, the conspiracy theories and "liberal this, liberal that" just gets old. It's just as bad as extreme liberals and tree hugging anti-hunters. You just don't see it because you're too far gone. You're a solid member VJP. You have some great knowledge of firearms, trapping and hunting. You're active in all the right places here. Just get your buddy to tone it down and you'll be fine.

I felt that way when I moved down here. Seeing a poisonous snake in the woods is the equivalent of seeing a mountain lion in NY. I know guys who have hunted their whole lives without crossing one. However, your snow camo becomes useless

A year ago grow, I would have said your open ended thread titles were annoying. Today I'd say they're a breath of fresh air compared to copy and paste nonsense. At least your posts are generally geared towards the outdoors and NY related events.

It's burm's site and he will decide what he want's. I've been around the interweb and message boards long enough where I've seen good sites grow when managed correctly and I've seen splinter sites pop up when good members have had enough. The shame is when you new sites pop up, you now divide your community. At the end of the day it's about clicks and posts to generate revenue. The owner must decide if the short term flood is better than the long term decline.

Most sites dont allow it because it just gets good people with common interests to argue with each other. We should be here to discuss hunting. Where were already a group of monitored needing to band together. If the worst we do is disagree about ARs and crossbows we will be fine.I actually don't mind the occasional political discussion, but it's just too much. I'd suggest we create 1 thread for the random political discussion. Then it's just 1 thread for those who want to copy and paste and for those who would like to argue or high five it.

Tennessee is beautiful country. Just spent 2 days in KC Missouri, I could retire there too!

You're missing the bigger picture of what this site will look like to new members. I understand that the traffic and posts are good for the site in the off season, but the place looks like a bunch of right wing nut jobs. I've never seen anything like it on any site and that includes the very conservative southern hunting boards
