Kinda looks like the one I let walk the other night. Lol. You were not up top in the Helena area were you?? Lots of 8pts on the park with that look! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That is a shooter for those that have never shot one that big. For those that have and know what they are looking at this guy may be a bit more than special. You have to let the big ones grow if you want to shot a monster. Thats tough to do for some. Understandable!

Why do you go for bigger bucks?
Four Season Whitetail's replied to stoneam2006's topic in Deer Hunting
Button Bucks with good blood will be hard horn buttons in November-December, His deer was either an August born buck fawn last year or very poor blood and maybe even inbreeding of family members. He was a 1 yr and 2-3 months old at the least -

Although i agree that older would give more in the way of meat but that can be had in does. Each hunter has to grow inside themselves as a hunter and we all start out small. Funny that you show these racks and i just let one walk as big as your biggest here on state land yesterday and would not even raise a weapon to look at any the size you have shown. Years ago when in another stage i would have. -

You should send your dad to a great whitetail state for a big whitetail to fit in there

I myself will never shoot a small buck again. I dont see the excitement in killing the dumbest deer in the woods. I will take any yearling or older doe but never a fawn. I believe we all go thru stages and at this point my stage is to try to find and kill the biggest smartest buck i can find, Nothing less will do and i have no problem not filling my buck tags any givin year. Does all taste the same! -
Yup i let a nice 21/2yr old 8pt tonight live to hopefully make it one more year. There is truly a great number of game this year. Every sit is showing some action.

Same shed different truck this year. We are at camp but rented a C Cabin for the week of shotgun for any extra guys that come down. So far i have seen deer all thru the park. All small bucks so far but it seems the numbers are up this year. Just got info that one of the new hunters staying here at camp just took a basket 8pt for his first deer ever with a bow. Good Stuff!

This pig crap in Ny is a grasp at best. They say how bad they are and how their numbers grow yet nobody ever see's any? Just another case of Ny at its finest.

Would love to hook up with some of you guys. I will be hunting the farm in the morning and over on the park later in the day.We spend most of our time on the West side but we did find some interesting areas over off the Parade grounds we will be hitting this season. If ya see my Ram feel free to stop and chat.Good Luck All.

Ever since the first time in the woods after Whitetails its been an obsession. Doing something with/for Whitetails every season of the year. After that the raising of Whitetails came to be and just fit the name perfect so the farm took on the name for yearly paperwork.

LOL...Thats a crap shoot but lets just say where we find most of our shooters we are in spots that we leave our bows in the tree and not worry about them. You cant be faint of heart and many times have to think like a mountain goat at times, Those deer go down those places that many say they could never go by going down at angles..They go left a bit and then right then left again and down they go. Have seen a many sitting on their tails with their front feet out in front of them coming down the hill. Amazing some of the places those things go and nobody...Well almost nobody..would go down there to hunt them. We have brought many a friend down to hunt the park with us because they have seen what can come out but they say we are freakin nuts and they never come back. lol Gotta Luv It!

We dont hunt around any trails really. We make it a point to try and stay away from the masses and that is where you will find the masses. Just the last 3 days 2 does have been taken and a couple potential takers have been seen on the bottom up off of the camping area. Those ridges are full of nuts and deer are plentiful. Its really like anywhere else. Learn the area you hunt and you will find what you are looking for. After 18 years we have a pretty good handle on the ways of the park. After this rain the bowels of Letchworth are going to be full and some of the best hunting ever is on the park when the bottom is flooded.

Yeah..No Sh!t and why should someone have to go to that pain and expense to keep some lowlife off your property?..Know where your at and you would not have that problem. I should not have to run around and chase the losers!!!
-
And how many on average do you think can do this feat on a regular basis? Many more would be lost in rain than retrieved.

Its not real tough crossing in spots with ropes when water is running normal. On our trips we found a huge amount of mast on the bottom itself this year. First one across the river is always the heaviest in the group. lol You can still get to the A cabins by going thru the Castile entrance. C cabins are nice also just not the screen porch. We rented C8 to hold the guys that wont fit in our camp. Thats from the week of the 14th on into shotgun season. Maybe we all will meet up in there somewhere.

I just bit the bullet and got a 55hp Deere with the loader. Its a 16 and was 32 big one;s$. Beast of a Tractor even before tires were loaded. Snow will never tax this beast. Only complaint is the loader hook up to the tractor, to much weight out front.

Not many on here hunt the park for some reason. Was down to camp the first couple days but hunted the farm. East side was open but never made it over. Will be headed down next weekend to spend the next 5 weeks running the hills of the park. Nice pic, Thats the only kind that will work on the park. Way to much work to take anything less.

I say just the other..Yotes will shred the thing quick. By the looks of the hair on the side of the deer it almost shows the spot where a bear may have rolled it around a bit before dinner, almost like bear prints in the hair? Hard to say really but a nasty ending for the hunter either way.

Really???
