Unbelievable... but not really.
sits in trees replied to noob52's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
this is how it starts, and they call us nuts for fighting gun registration! gun registration is NO good and this proves it first hand. they will want to stop all private sales too.. -
.223 ammo has almost doubled in price if you can even get it....man what are we doing to ourselves here??? .40 cents a round for wolf 223...

do you become a supporter by buying an item like hats or sweatshirts or by doing the Gold or Silver donation thing?
-
why dont they just let local hunters in that area bait to help reduce the numbers?

Yea the preban thing means guns/magazines manufactured before 1994 do not fall under NYSs assault weapons 1994 ban. you can't own a 30 round magazine in NYS unless it was made before 1994, and you cant own a rifle with scary features like a flash hider, bayonet lug or folding stock unless it was manufactured before 1994. Im not sure of what Andrew is conjuring at the moment but i hear alot of crazyness coming out of his mouth so theres no telling what we will end up with law wise when this is all said n done.. The thing im seeing in this gunrush is thats it more of a mega gunrush, most likely caused by Cuomo and probably centralized here in NYS. And the people buying are those who currently do not own an assault weapon. So we have a vacuum of a very small percentage of black gun owners willing to sell even at the prices that they currently garner and lots of people who want them causing the price explosion. I even see one guy offering silver for bulk 7.62 ammo. And the term cash in hand is now the norm. Also people looking for huge quantities of bulk ammo wanting to buy really, i mean really large amounts...

I dabble in the buying selling and trading of legal firearms. i have to admit i do like AKs and ARs(please dont flame me) but what is going on since the shooting and NOW with Cuomo gone wild, HOLY CRAP!!! there is mass hysteria amonst the gun buying community. Gun shops are completely sold out of everything and people are shoving and clamouring at the shelves for 7.62x39 and 5.56ammo and bushmasters and AKs. On the private board classifieds they are listing and getting 1200 bucks for WASR10 Aks which sold for 600bucks last week?? SKSs are selling for 1000BUCKS! i bought one for 200 last summer. i know of a gun dealer that has just sold 7 Windham arms ARs for 2000 bucks apiece on fri afternoon! Way to go Andrew!!

Cuomo talks of gun confiscation
sits in trees replied to wooffer's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
hey Woof, lets see actual links to articles instead of what the Gov as you say floated as an idea. and you dont have to highlite democrat and republican in every sentence, we do know who is who and that Cuomo is a democrat. also dont rely on yer republican heros to save us on this one, they will do whatever they see as popular and what will get them the VOTES. just look at who they had running for president, uhhh whats his name, the guy who had D ratings from the NRA like forever and signed a 2004 massachusetts assault weapon ban and taxed gun owners and sportsman to death in his state and who said he is proud of his states tough GUN LAWS? Republicons and the NRA have already sold ya all out and you dont even know it???? -
i realize some including myself have hinted that the anti gun brigade in America was going to use this tragedy to their advantage, or as some alterior motive to take guns away from law abiding citizens. me and a couple others here have been chastised for daring to have such thoughts in our evil minds. well after doing only alittle research im seeing banning assault weapons and putting restrictions on magazine capicity will do very little to reduce the number of child deaths in this country? look at the stats folks, far more kids die at the hands of drunk drivers? and the majority of kids who die by the gun are in their late teens and its gang related and taking guns away from me wont help that situation either?? so why is all this energy being put into taking our guns if its not gonna do much to protect our children.

Just a little venting...
sits in trees replied to Sogaard's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
well i guess its not the planet that you enjoy such a safe life on with no history of violence. I live on the planet earth, its the 3rd one out from the sun. ohh yea the one where we had the L.A. riots about 2 decades ago where hard working Americans where pulled out of their cars and businesses and beaten to death in the street for the color of their skin, ohhh and yes many were also gunned down in the street with black rifles that used high cap mags. the same ones i would like to keep if you want we can go back to the Watts riots of 65 or even back another minute in history in a period of time that we refer to as the civil war where one part of the country didnt like the other part and 600 thousand died many innocent unarmed women and children in southern towns and cities burned in thier homes for just being a southerner. you should come down for a visit...lol. -
man what a potty mouth! some of what you say is true and you make some good points but the delirious fashion you deliver your argument with make me just think yer NUTZ!

Just a little venting...

what happens if a group of people come into power in your region, state/area. and say thay group of people wants to kill you and your family for not believing in what they want you to believe wether it be political, religious, your views on abortion, or whatever. if you say it cant happen or ohhh it wont happen here then your not a good student of history. as a liberal you especially have much to fear because most right wing wacko conservative groups out there are very well armed. having the right to protect you and yours should not be a conservative or liberal issue. -
im alittle worried that they will even increase the stigma that already goes along with any kind of so called mental illness and make people aviod anykind of treatment for fear that the may be branded. it could even make parents of a teen who has depression isssues not seek help because they might be afraid of how that could effect their childs future. this whole mental health thing could actually have a reverse effect on identifiying and treating people who might do something horrible like this?
-
im hearing alot of lawmakers wanting to put more stringent regs on FFL checks regarding a persons mental health(which they do already), but now they are talking about looking at an applicants family members mental history and to see if you have things like a recent divorce on record. does any of this worry any of you?

i think its fairly obvious that Popit is the alter ego of someone that we all know and love on this site and understandably has been made very upset by what has happened and is just having a bad reaction to alot of the posts made here by myself, Doc and others. I say we just all go easy on her and soon we all will be able to continue having the normal conversations we all so enjoy having with her....

categorizing people with mental illness and wether they should be allowed to own a gun or not is easier said than done. mental illness has many facets and to set a standard that anyone once diagnosed or treated for mental illness will be sort of branded will stop many people from ever seeking any treatment at all. to say that the government should be allowed to have access to what meds your on is not only illegal but just wont sit well with many people. you will find that there is no easy fix for these mass shootings at schools, malls, movie theaters. maybe we will just have to end up in a total police state like someone suggested in another thread and have an armed cop at every place a where people gather. but where does that end and who will flip the bill for that? no easy answers, very tough problem?? one thing for sure these events are horrible and well covered by the media but your chances of being killed by a madman at a shopping mall are about as good as you winning the powerball lotto.
