windows are one of the biggest dilemmas when i hunt from a blind, enough to drive one nutz..most of my blinds are backed up to a spot that i know i wont be seeing deer coming from so i usually keep my back window closed..

im a realist and realize that one day i wont be climbing trees anymore. and i have no shame, i will use whatever tools that will keep me in the feild another few years as i age. so ground blinds and crossbows are definatley in my plans. but for now i head out to climb up into my 18 foot treestand..

i leave mine in all season, i gotta Savage m10-11 smokeless.

i have never done it myself but had the chance to sample cured and slow smoked venison ham and it was very good. should be cured with that pink curing powder stuff(forget the name)for 24 hours, including injection into large muscle groups. its smoked at very low temp around 180-200 degrees for like 16 hours depending on the size. sliced very thin its excellant and pretty much tastes just like ham, hot or cold on sanwiches very good....

looks like rain starting this afternoon right into the middle of next week with the worst being mon/tues.

gotta say this bow season has been pretty crappy, not only warm but warm and rainy. and now we have this big blow a comin which will screw up deer hunting for days. well i just hope they are good and hungry when its all over and i also hope i dont have to spend a week cleaning up...

Its amazing to see the amount of responses these deer baiting threads get, especially here in NY where the law is cut n dry, baiting is not allowed. That being said it amazes me how you will never hear a single poster say hes a baiter but it seems everyone hates them and would like to see them hung and its only a few bad apples or a very small percentage of the NY hunter population that would do this. Then i wonder why the local Tractor Supply and Agway cant keep enough 50 lbs bags of corn on the shelves this time of year and how sales drop off dramatically after the holidays??? Is it just that the local livestock gets hungrier in the fall?? Funny the month of May seems to have an effect on the local livestocks appetite also??

i do my own because i know its done right and the meat is cared for properly and the meat i get is mine and nobody else's that was hanging on a tree in the sun for a week, but i dont know how anyone wouldnt want 300 bucks to do the job...if you know guys that you can really, really trust and they do it for 65 bucks then thats a good deal.

its gotten to the point where corporations are making their own laws. pre ban hi cap magazines are legal in NY state but you would be surprised at how many stores wont even sell them or ship them to you, just because they choose not to, even thought they are totally legal in our state. I have run across similar situations with black powder rifles and even crossbows?? Its pretty bad when stores start to dictate policies on whats legal or not. we have a gun parts company in Kingston that wont sell a resident of NY state a 30 round pre ban(totally legal)ar-15 mag even if you go there personally to buy them, but they will send them to buyers in other states no problem????????? i know that stores like to tout about their right of " ohh we reserve the right to sell or not to sell to whomever" but for Christ sake the law is the law isnt it, are there not enough laws against sportman and gun owners already without stores joinin in??

Not even 1/10 of Americas gun owners even belong to the NRA just to give you an idea of the numbers, gun sales are at an all time high and have been so for years now. Theres not a politician in the country that would be crazy enough to go after guns except maybe NY city's mayor Bloomberg and if you havent noticed most Democrats are distancing themselves from his views on guns... Romneys record on GUN CONTROL.... He also signed massachusetts 2004 assault weapons ban making his state worse than NY for gun control and Mass is the most anti gun state next to California in America... He increased firearm and hunting license fees drastically for sportsman of his state...
