Me too. Damn it’s small world. There’s a bunch of us on here within a 20 mile radius. See much today?

I was almost about to say how incredibly warm I am in this blind with the heater going. And then it ran out of propane lol. Forgot the second tank. Oops. It might not matter because I might get out and go see what in the F$&@ two people are doing shooting very close to me. It sounds awfully close to the property line. I’m not happy about it. Of all the days of the year to target shoot.....

Just had a spike almost walk right into me. Few more mins then I’m headed to the neighbors to shovel corn for a bit

At the very least they call you (begin country drawl)”that city boy”. Lol

625 multiple shots and first ones I heard

If anyone remembers jmark and his son who came turkey hunting with me back in spring, they are back up here today to try and knock down a deer. Got them setup in my ground blind over my food plot. Should see lots of deer in there on this cold morning. I’m hunting down the road on a different piece. Gonna sit for a few hours then go unload my truck bed of corn at my neighbors. Hoping jmark puts one in the dirt today. Good luck everyone.

Wow. 619 and no shots yet. I’m shocked lol

2 day old left over ziti from a Titty cancer awareness fundraiser party at work. I was shocked to see this was still in the fridge. Warehouse guys usually have this stuff cleaned out in a matter of hours Filled me up. Now I need to take a nap in my office [emoji85]

Screw the rifle, it’s me that I don’t want getting soaked while sitting in a tree. Hunted in rain for many years with no issues with my guns. Dry them out and oil them, good as new. Idk about you but I oil everything before it goes back in the gun cabinet, so there’s really not any extra effort here.

Weather looks a lot better in the AM for me. Still looking like decent rain in the afternoon. Hoping to seal the deal early in the morning!

Turn that wind down neighbor. Your blowing it right up to me!

This property is loaded with hickory trees. The timber here has been managed pretty closely over the last 30 years. At least they are good strong trees to hang stands in

Trying a stand I haven’t sat once yet this year. I hung this stand back in June or early July. Now that the leaves are done I can see that I need to move this stand about 25 yards to my right. That and I didn’t clear enough shooting lanes lol. Hoping to catch one of my bigger bucks coming out of a big block of timber they seem to be coming from according to my cameras. They should be headed past me to get to my fields where all the does hang. On my walk in I went right past 3 does bedded 15 yards off my atv trail. I saw them and slowed my pace a bit but didn’t stop. They just watched me go right by. Sometimes they are just really dumb...

Bringing my harness just for that reason lol.

Ran across the north field to pull a card quick. The boys have been busy over here... Wife told me to get my ass out there and get the 10 pointer. I said I need to sleep but she disagrees. So I guess I’m gonna scent free shower and hit the woods. Sleep when I’m dead....or at least after hunting season.

Ground blind and buddy heater type of day! Anyone sitting in a open treestand is needlessly punishing themselves in that kind of weather.

I use a rattle bag so it’s kinda hard to make them tick real slow. But I try to start off kinda easy and progressively get louder for about 25-30 seconds. A few grunts before and after and that’s about it.

Just rattled in a 6 point a few mins ago. He came in on a string down this path and right underneath me. He looked to be possibly 3 but I’m hoping he was 2. Nice body on him but I’ll let him go. Hoping these bucks start to figure out it’s pretty safe around here and stick around more. I’ve definitely seen more mature bucks here this year compared to last. Another hour and a half and I have to get down. Good luck to everyone today

I should of been out today. But I was exhausted from a long night at work and just couldn’t get myself up for a afternoon hunt. After being on normal hours on vacation and now going back to nights has me wore out. But I have to pick up my boy from school at noon tomorrow so I’m going to go out in the AM when I get home from work until 1130ish. Only checked the cams on my plot since being home still but it shows a lot of daytime buck movement. Good luck to everyone else headed out tomorrow and congrats to all that have scored today!

Back home. And I’m in the blind over my food plot right behind the house already lol. Took the family out for lunch when I got home and we saw deer all over the place. So when I got home I asked the wife if I could go out from 3 to dark, she surprisingly said go ahead. I kicked 7 does out of the field when I walked in to grab my memory card off the camera and get in the blind. I was barely even sat down yet and I heard crashing in the thick stuff behind me that’s between me and my house, about 90 yards thick. The crashing stops and I turn around and look out the blind window and there’s the big 6 I’ve had on camera all summer chasing a doe across my plot. She dives into the thick stuff on the other end of the field and he stops at the edge. About 85 yards away. I won’t shoot him yet, hoping he can stay close to this property and make it another year, we will see how that goes. But it was nice to see some rut action already! I’ve got a decent 10 point on the camera that I think I’ll take a shot at if he comes by. Gonna get out tmw morning before the wife goes to work. Won’t be a long sit but better than nothing. Maybe take the boys out to the blind for a couple hours mid day.

Wool socks. Not too thick though. Need a good amount of space inside the boot. Too thick and tight and you’ll freeze. The disposable insole warmers are really good also, they saved me many times.

51 pounds of burger from my doe headed home. Wife has a few venison dinners planned for this week with it! Can’t wait to taste that corn fed Midwest meat!

Well our time here in Nebraska is coming to a close. No big bucks for me or the other guy. I shot a doe Wednesday night to fill my tag and help herd management. Got her dropped off at the butcher yesterday morning and they said it will be done this morning. Got it all ground into burger, that’s what we use most of when cooking. Rut action seems to be late here this year. Everyone else at this hotel said the same thing. Not a lot of big boys out chasing during daylight yet. But we’ve had a good time, met some great people and drank ALOT of cold ones with them and the locals at the bars every night haha. Packing our stuff in the truck now and headed to the butcher to pick up meat then we are homeward bound. Wife says it’s 18 degrees at home and we have a heavy dusting of snow. Winds are whipping too I guess. Can’t wait to get home and see my boys, this is the longest I’ve ever been away from my kids since they were born, I gave up the guide life and traveling to be home with them. Sunday I hope to get a little hunting done behind my house though! Good luck to everyone hitting the woods today!
