  1. Looks like you might have to spend Saturday building your ark for Sunday's monsoon. So ya better put one down tomorrow pro staffer![emoji12]
  2. Sutton spoons are my secret weapon for monster pike. I think it's number 32c is the spoon we use. Old man and uncle used to buy a bunch of them every spring before our annual trip to northern Quebec. We hammered 20-35 pound pike all day up there on those spoons. Done real well with them in NY lakes too. Dad bought up every 32c they had last winter as someone told him they were either not making spoons anymore or weren't making much of them now. One of these days I'd like to visit their shop.
  3. Having dinner down in town with the wife and kiddos. They are dropping me off at work in a little while. 6am tmw morning I'll be picked up from work by my buddy and we are off to Nebraska. I'm pumped. Hoping I didn't forget to pack something.
  4. Oct 27th- Nov 13th I'm on vacation. But I work nights and will be hunting everyday even when I go back to work. Also have opening weekend of southern gun season off. And will most likely take some more time off before end of muzzy season. I don't take much if any time off any other time of year. Save it all for this!
  5. Have you tried formatting the SD card? I have this same problem with all my cams from time to time if I don't format the SD cards. Now I format them right after I clear the pics when I check them. Haven't had any more "no pic" problems since then.
  6. Yep that's when I like to take off as well. Like you said, usually a great time weather wise but this year sure has thrown us for a loop. Monsoon rains all spring, drought the last few months of summer into fall, and way above average temps. Makes me wonder what kind of winter we will have. And thank you, we will be having a grand ok time no matter what we harvest. 14 days of hunting out of state is fun enough all in itself. But I'll be happy when I come home to hunt over the food plots I spent so much time this summer working on. Hopefully by that time the weather turns cold and the rut will be in full swing by then
  7. Haha! That's good stuff. I always thought it was somewhere around late 80s to mid 90s or something.
  8. Ya know for a few mins I was almost sorta bummed I wasn't gonna be here for the first two weeks of Nov, thinking the weather would be cold and bucks would already be moving much more. But after seeing the extended weather outlook I'm even happier I leave Friday morning for Nebraska. It's gonna be in the 20s when we get there Saturday! Sunday morning we will be climbing in our stands with a low of 20! Wouldn't mind tagging out the first morning so I can drink beer and kick my feet up the rest of the time! Haha. Actually we all agreed if we tag out early we are gonna head back towards home and stop in Ohio to hunt the rest of our days off lol.
  9. What year is the cutoff for millennial. I was born in 90 so I think I'm prolly classified as one by birth date unfortunately. But I take pride in being the total opposite of what everyone knows millennials to be.
  10. As you've already seen, your gonna have a hard time finding parts or info on it. The company has probably been closed and practically erased from history. It's a common thing among the Chinese brand machines. I know quite a few people who bought them for their kids and once they broke something, it stayed broken and was basically just run into the ground and tossed into the trash because parts can't be found or bought. I worked at a Motorsports shop in high school and we had to cut and grind a pair of brake pads off a Polaris sportsman 90 to fit into a Chinese made kids atv. That was the last Chinese bike my boss agreed to take in to the shop. You'll most likely have to custom fab something to make it work. Sorry this isn't much help but it's the unfortunate truth about those machines
  11. Damn Rick needs some target practice! Should of killed Neegan on the first shot!
  12. I'm in the same boat. Came down with a bit of a chest cold last week. It's taking forever to get rid of it. Leaving for nebraska on Friday. Hoping it's all gone by then. I got a long walk to where I'll be hanging a stand, need free and clear lungs!
  13. Haha! My old man did the same thing years ago. We came back the next fall and it was a 2 point rack instead of a 8 point lol! Crazy how fast the tree rats chew them up.
  14. No deer here. Giving me lots of time to day dream about sitting in a tree in Nebraska next weekend. Just checked the weather for out there, cold front is moving in next weekend. We will hit it perfect. Down into the 20s at night and 40s during the day. Perfect!
  15. Wow it is dead calm this morning. I made so much noise getting in here I think every deer in the county heard me walkin. Nice cool 41 degrees though. Good luck all.
  16. Good luck today everyone. I'm still working and need to be back in early this afternoon so no hunting for me today. I'll be out tomorrow though!
  17. Not entirely true. Since either bullet hit the market they have gone through some changes. I have older SSTs that have soft pliable red tips, and newer ones that have hardened tips similar to the shockwave. I've also heard a few times that the original shockwave sabots were .001 thicker compared to the SST sabots. I think they have made them identical now, but they weren't always that way. I got a buddy who's big into front stuffers and swears by Barnes bullets, going to give them a try this year.
  18. Used rage since the beginning with no problems. The newer ones are much better than the originals. I've always shot 70lb bows though, so I'm not really worried about penetration. I've sent rages through rib cages with pass throughs multiple times. I just like that they fly so well compared to my field points. Easy to buy screw on and hunt.
  19. Better check the zero on that gun. Make sure scope rings are tight. What kind of scope? My dad had a Nikon muzzy scope go bad early into its life. Like slug guns, muzzys tend to be a bit rough on scopes. Most of today's scopes handle it fine but there's always the lemons out there. Other than optics, the only other thing I could think of would be your bullet not expanding. You said your shooting TC shockwaves right? The yellow tipped ones. 250 grain most likely? I use them also, but I've heard multiple times of people having expansion issues with these bullets. I've seen them destroy deer so Idk what to believe. But after the stories I've heard I've always been kinda leery of them since. I've switched to shooting some Hornaday SST's instead. They are red tipped and look almost identical to the shockwaves. But I haven't found any bad reviews about them not expanding and they shoot the same out of my gun as the shockwaves do. So idk if non expansion is your problem, but not finding blood or hair is one of the tell tale signs of small wound channels. At least it's some food for thought.
  20. 8inch tines? Are we looking at the same picture. Width isn't that important. Only accounts for roughly 10% of score. Looking for length of tines, beams and mass to bring scores up high
  21. I've come across my fair share of ECOs and will sadly say that only a couple of them were decent guys who had common sense and were respectful human beings. When I was out west I was in contact with ECOs way more often and never met a bad one out there. It's something about NY ECOs I'm telling ya. Ran into a ECO back in youth turkey season up at some state land close to my house and he was the typical standoffish prick that most of them are. Gave me a bad attitude about what I was doing and who was hunting. It's like these guys are convinced every hunter is doing something wrong before even finding out. While fishing up on lake Champlain back in June me and my buddy were stalked by DEC for a good 2 hours before they pulled us over to check licenses. We were legal all the way around but they tore my buddy's boat apart looking for anything possible to ticket us for. I can understand needing to follow the rules and that they need to check, but they didn't need to be so damn rude and nasty about it. Those guys have a awesome job, I have never understood why they could be so damn miserable.
  22. Rage hypodermics for me. Might pick up a package of the new trypans before heading to Nebraska next week. I've been shooting rage since they came out and have never had a issue with their 2 blade models. Used a 3 blade once and wasn't impressed with that at all. Last fixed blades I used were slick tricks and they shot well, still keep one or two in my quiver for coyotes and stuff.
  23. Sweet, now I guess I can do the iOS update. Glad it's working again for ya'll
  24. I still haven't done the iOS update [emoji51]. I'm holding off until after my trip to Nebraska lol. I wanna be able to use Tapatalk on my long all day sits out there haha.
