Well I got a doe tonight. That Honda Civic sure did a number on her. Came out of no where, was doing 10 under the limit being as vigilant as always. Luckily it happened right in front of my bosses house as I'm on my way to work. So I had the perfect excuse to be a few mins late tonight. Car still runs and drives but its down a headlight and some stuff is hanging all over so I had my wife come pick me up and give me a lift to work. Will have to drop it off at the body shop tomorrow and see how much damage is really there. Not the way I wanted to bag my first doe this fall[emoji849]

Ya I haven't really figured out the best way to debate with people like that other than just avoiding talking at all lol. They aren't smart enough to have intelligent conversations with. It's like something in their brains hasn't fully developed or something. Some of these hardcore liberals really have no idea what kind of ramifications their beloved "gun confiscation" would bring. It would be a wicked short civil war if it ever went that far....

Dang it's muggy out. I should of worn shorts instead. Not counting on a real productive evening with these temps and humidity but I can't kill em from the couch.

If I had the time to continue the BS with her that would of been my first question. She's one of those people that no matter how much evidence is thrown in their face, they will ignore it all.

2 does and what I think was a 4 point or maybe a 6 are feeding around the edge of this couple acre spruce thicket. The does are more on the edge, I lost sight of the buck right after I saw him. I heard his antlers banging around the low dead spruce branches. I knew the noise wasn't squirrels. There was some sun shining into the trees and I was able to pick off his rack in there. Small but encouraging to see in case his daddy is around.

I don't understand the wind this year. Every time I leave the house it's going one way, I get up in a stand and it's going the opposite way. Downwind is gonna get a big whiff of Tinks doe pee as I just spilled half the bottle all over the place[emoji849]. I'm back over where I saw a big 8 last week. Hoping if he comes out in the field across the road again he will make his way over here before dark this time. About 25 turkeys were in the field when I got here.

Retreated back towards the house to sit in my ground blind on the food plot for awhile. Didn't bring rain gear with me so the blind will keep my dry enough. Time for a new blind though, this one is getting quite a few leaks in it

Annndddd here comes the rain.

I'm up in a tree. Wasn't sure if I was gonna bother coming out but figured what the hell. A few sprinkles but no downpours yet here. Decent amount of wind that keeps changing directions. I walked further back into the property to a stand we call the Bear stand. Haven't hunted this spot yet but it's in a big sturdy oak that won't sway too much in the wind. And it's pretty dang high up on the edge of a swampy area filled with oaks.

I was in a bit of a debate with an old high school art teacher the other day on FB over guns. She's a typical liberal and wants all guns banned/confiscated by the government. Her own son and several other guys chimed in as well being pro gun. She then goes on to tag each and every one of us with the same question to us "do you own any assault guns?" Only one idiot was dumb enough to say yes. After all this vegas stuff people are going to start getting in trouble like the OP showed. And I'll be damned if I'd be dumb enough to admit publicly on FB that I own illegal firearms. I know she was trying to bait us into admitting it but I wouldn't respond to something like that. Need to be careful these days, people will sell you out in a heartbeat. Especially crazy liberal hippie gun grabbers like this lady is.

I'm up in the creek bottom that leads out to my food plot and apple trees. The wind is switching directions like crazy. Gonna try some rattling in a little while. Good luck tonight all.

Good luck this morning guys and gals! It's my weekend off and I'm about to get out of work, this weather really stinks. I'll be out this afternoon and tomorrow either way though. Monday looks like it's gonna be a wash out for my area so that will most likely end up being my day to be lazy and watch movies with my kiddos day

Still haven't done my iOS update so Tapatalk is still working for me. Notifications are still screwy though.

I'm up in stand behind the house over my food plot again. Got in late around 5. 2 fawns were in the field 25 yards out from my stand. I somehow managed to slowly make my way off my trail over the rock wall and to my tree on the edge of the plot. Tie my bow up and slowly climb up the sticks all without spooking them. Biz' ninja skills must be rubbing off on me. But so far it's the two fawns in the field and another one showed up in the brush to my left. I'm sure momma doe will step out at some point to collect the kids.

Nope! I'm in the stupid club also. I was going to sleep more than 4 hours but my kids and wife thought I should go hunting. Woke me up and pestered me for 30 mins before I said alright I'll go. Lol. And here I am. I chose the stand that's 150 yards from the house so easy short walk on this warm evening. But that doe in the picture came out into the field less than 5 seconds after I stepped onto the platform of my stand. I hadn't even taken my little pack off yet or brought my bow up lol. Maybe it's a good sign.

Your right. I should have said "bow" as in bow season. In my opinion crossbows offer a big advantage over regular bows and shouldn't be allowed starting Oct 1st. I feel the last two weeks of bow season is sufficient enough. If we let this happen I bet you'd hear people calling for early muzzle loader seasons to mimic the western states. I already see that as being the excuse to allow crossbows, so ya I don't see early muzzy seasons being asked for too far into the future. Our deer herd age structure isn't great to begin with. I think it's getting better the last few years and we seem to be on track for growing and harvesting more older bigger racked bucks. The "let em grow" mentality is spreading and I think it would be counter productive to opening up more chances for bucks to be shot early on and the possible increase in amount of overall bucks taken.

Agreed. I forgot to mention I'd be fine with handicap people being allowed to use them all season. Hell I don't care what handicap people use, could be a rocket launcher for all I care. Everyone's gonna have a different opinion and it's gonna be based on each and every individuals situation. But I will say this, the people I know who are foaming at the mouth for this to pass, don't deserve the extra time in the woods. They are the text book slob hunters we all dislike. They gave up shooting compounds because they wounded more deer than me and you can count. But with a crossbow they think it's gonna be just like a gun. Which isn't the case and I can just see the wounded spikes running all over the county because of it. But that's my view and I'm sure not everyone has those types of people around them to worry about.

No to full inclusion. Crossbows just don't fit under what I view as "archery". I'm fine with the way it is now with the last 2 weeks of bow but I also think crossbow hunters need to be required to take the bowhunters safety course. Idk why DEC would let crossbow hunters slip by the course but then open the whole bow season to them. Doesn't make sense to me.

This weekend is looking to be very warm. Not what I wanted to see but I have the weekend off from work so I'll be out there. Will most likely be hunting the creek bottom stand where there's a small hidden pond for them to drink from. At least it should be cooler down there in the shade.

It's a whole lot of does. I took part in a bunch of doe management hunts when I lived out west. Whacked and stacked them like cord wood.

Lol mmmmm button buck stew....think I would shed a tear as I ate it hahaha.
