  1. I think you might have misunderstood what I was trying to point out. I know there’s plenty of whites that want guns taken away, Hell I know a bunch of those types of idiots. I was just trying to point out that the media is plastering the faces of little black kids as the majority of those who are waking out in the pictures and short video segments I’ve seen. Really the only picture with more than 1 white kid has been the group pic of about 10 white students from the mid west holding the pro 2A signs. Of course the media loves blacks. They like using them as puppets for their “poor us” agenda. Look at us the poor black folk, ya know the ones you enslaved and didn’t let vote blah blah. And in reality, blacks mostly vote Dem because they love to eat up the social services that they provide to them, essentially making them eat right out the palm of their hands. I feel a bit sorry for blacks these days, at least 150 years ago they knew they were slaves. Now they are enslaved to the Democratic Party and 99.9% of them don’t even know it.
  2. You ain’t kidding. We see it down at the mill on a daily basis. Young kids get hired and fired so fast your head spins. It’s gotten to the point that I don’t even bother learning any new guys name until I’ve seen them around for more than a month. We literally had a kid lay down on the floor and crawl underneath a piece of moving machinery and take a nap at 10am!! Said he was tired and thought it was cool to take a quick power nap. [emoji849]. Ya know, from all that excruciating work standing up holding a air gun blowing flour dust off machines. I lose faith in the younger generations more and more each day. And these walkouts just add more fuel to my fire. I understand the right to free speech and all that, but when 99.9% of these students don’t even know what the hell they are talking about, I see it as nothing more than a sham that’s been promoted by the dems and liberals for more media attention with little to no thought of how it affects young impressionable minds.
  3. While our students continue to fall behind foreign countries academically, they organize walk outs. How about they focus on getting these kids to walk in to class and actually learn something!! On a side note...anyone else notice something about 99% of the pictures on the news of these “walkouts”? They are showing mostly black students, like the overwhelmingly majority are black. The few pics I’ve seen of white kids are the ones holding signs saying “pro 2nd amendment”. Just your liberal media hard at work!
  4. Navigation skills is one of the most important thing my dad and Uncle ever taught me. Honed my skills in the ADKs in my teenage years and perfected them out west in guide school. Never been lost. In guide school we had a land nav test that really put you to the test. You were given a small map and a compass, blindfolded and drove way up into the hills on a fire road. We were instructed to make it to this little pond at the bottom left corner of the map by sundown or have fun overnight with nothing but your knife and lighter for supplies. The instructor gave us one little hint when he dropped us off, “o by the way, your not on the map to start with”. We were dropped in pairs of 2 in hopes at least one of us could figure it out. Luckily the other guy I was with was just as good at land nav as me so we had no issues finding our location based on topography around us. Once we found where we were, we set a bearing and course. 11 miles from that dang pond. Took all day as we were dropped higher up than the rest of the class so we had to take turns breaking trail in 4ft of snow until we decided to break our course of staying on the ridge tops and drop into the valley to get away from the deep snow. Farthest dropped, deepest snow, and we still made it to the pond first. The other guys weren’t so good at land nav.
  5. You can get knock off senkos in bulk online. eBay usually has lots of them. Me and my buddies started buying the bulk packs a couple years ago and they work just as well as those $8-9 packs. We burn through senkos like crazy so the bulk packs were the only way to go for us. Love those dang things
  6. I had the same thought cross my mind before we tried coal. But honestly, I think I’ve seen bigger price swings in wood vs coal in the last 8 years or so. Coal hasn’t taken any major swings in price in quite awhile unlike pellets that swing all over the place. Less people use coal so you’ll likely never see the prices sky rocket during harsh winters when a lot of suppliers run dry or low on wood pellets. Cheapest way to burn with coal is to order tractor trailer loads straight from the mines in PA if you have the space to put it. Great thing about coal is that storage is simple, just pile it up on the ground lol. I’ve seen quite a few people online use stacked jersey barriers on concrete pads to store coal like you would sand or gravel. Buying in the big amounts like that can get you down to around $100 a ton. Hard to beat that price.
  7. A few buddies of mine have been hardcore wood burners since we were young and I’ve gotten a few of them to try out coal. And your right, once you try it you’ll never go back. 3 of my buddies sold their outdoor boilers and went to coal boilers after trying out smaller stoves inside. I do love the smell of wood burners and the nostalgia of it all but in the end it doesn’t make financial sense for me. Idk if I’ll get to it this year but my plans are to stick a auto coal boiler in the garage and pipe it over to the house so I can heat both structures. Looking at a auto feed with auger right from the coal bin so it takes filling the hopper out of the equation, even less labor! Haha
  8. Labor is never free. I don’t have enough free time to cut and split truck loads anymore. I make more in OT than I’d possibly save cutting wood. Not to mention the cost of saws, splitters, gas, oil and wear parts or broken stuff. It would take years to even out and most likely would never save a dime. A truck load of logs would get 6-9 cord at $500-750 a truck load. I’ll gladly spend Double that to have next to nothing in labor. I can shovel 4 ton of coal into a bin before you could split a face cord. And once it’s in the bin I’m done for the year. If you get bulk delivery there’s no labor involved. I guess it all depends on the personal situations of everyone. If I was retired and had lots of spare time I can see cutting wood as a bit cheaper if you have access to free or cheap wood. But with working 60-80 hours a week plus family time, there’s not much time left for cutting wood therefore making any time I’m not working much more valuable.
  9. I was paying $225-275 per ton for Rice size coal. Picked it up in one ton bulk AG bags and would then dump those into a wooden coal bin I made alongside my house that held about 4.5-5 ton. Usually refilled the hopper on the stove once every 24-36 hours depending on how much we had it cranked up. The coal ashes also worked great for filling in pot holes in our gravel driveway during the winters too, and it was great for traction on ice if anyone got stuck. It’s cheaper than buying a load of logs then having to spend weeks and weeks cutting and splitting
  10. Grew up with a wood stove and we always burned around 8-10 cord(4x4x8) from October-may. It was a nice Harmon wood stove and heated a 2800sq ft house really well. My dad worked out of town during the weeks so I spent every summer splitting wood by myself to keep ahead. I can’t say I really miss all that work. The house I bought a couple years ago has nothing but oil fired hot water baseboard for heat and we have burned through almost $3grand worth of oil this winter!!! And my FIL owns a damn oil company, so that’s with my tiny bit of a discount! I’ve been working on adding more and more insulation to this old farm house but I doubt it will ever totally seal it up. My last house we had a coal stove that heated all 2300sq ft and burned 4 ton a winter at most. Way cheaper than oil or wood. One of these days I’m going to get around to putting in a automatic coal boiler and be done with oil.
  11. Just saw this on FB, it’s less than a hour old. Looks like we could see another 30+ inches[emoji849]
  12. I must be one of the few roads that didn’t lose power in our area it seems. Even 2 houses down on the corner of my road and 403 was out. Our lights flickered for a min early in the morning but that’s it. O and the cable internet was out off and on for a few hours throughout the day. I got home around 945am and tried to snowblow around noon. Snow blower was no match for that heavy wet stuff, it kept trying to ride up and on top. Had to ride my 4 wheeler around the block to get my buddy Carl to plow me out with his tractor. I left for work at 8pm and measured 29 inches on the tape measure, and it was still snowing hard. I’m sure it will end up being around 30 inches or more in the end. Hell, they didn’t even plow my road yet today! Thank god for 4 wheel drive!
  13. I think I just lost my breakfast....that’s got to be the least American thing one could possibly say. And also a bit moronic at the same time. This “new world” we are living in has seen nothing but more civil liberties given to gays, tranny’s and illegals. Why is everyone else gaining rights but gun owners continue to get theirs stripped? Other than gun rights, what liberties is anyone else giving up in this “new world” of yours?
  14. Armed teachers will never be the end all be all solution. But why should we tie their hands and force them to basically stand there and wait to be shot. If a teacher feels they are capable of carrying a concealed handgun, can pass some training courses, then why shouldn’t we give them the opportunity to stop these shooters if need be. SWAT and regular LEOs are great at what they do but they are still humans and can’t possibly cover every square inch of a school or make their response times seconds long instead of 5-8 mins. If a shooter somehow managed to slip by armed guards at the doorway, I’d feel a lot better with a few teachers being around that can use a weapon to put down the shooter quickly if they needed to. Saw a report last night that a sheriffs dept in Ohio has opened up concealed carry courses for teachers. They maxed out the class at 300 teachers in less than 5 hours. They weren’t expecting to even get 40 people to sign up! Needless to say, there are a lot more teachers out there that have a solid back bone and are willing to put their money where their mouths are when it comes to truly protecting our kids.
  15. Started with Verizon back in 04. They jerked me around over something that I can’t even remember now but we switched to sprint a couple years ago for about 29 days before we brought the phones back and cancelled before the 30 day money back clause was up. Sprint was absolutely terrible compared to Verizon. Service was only good in town, once you got a mile or so outside of town, service dropped to one bar or none. I couldn’t even get service in my office in the Mill I work at. Couldn’t put up with that so back to Verizon we went. I think AT&T supposedly has pretty good service around my area but I don’t think I’ll be switching again anytime soon. Verizon treats old time customers like crap, but their service coverage is by far the best across the country. We use our iPhones like crazy and upgrade to new ones every 2 years. Which is why I could never get into a prepaid service. Ya the monthly bill might be cheaper but I’m not dropping $800-1000 per Phone up front every 2 years for a new Phone. Kinda defeats the purpose in saving $40 a month on the bill. Last time we upgraded I got the iPhone 7 for free just for trading in my iPhone 6. Kinda hard to beat that
  16. I just had a “discussion” with someone on FB over the articles about the 18 “school shootings” in January. A 31 yr old commuting suicide in his car in a school parking lot was considered a “school shooting” by these liberal media outlets. My discussion with this person was about how I think it’s BS and totally misleading to categorize a suicide as a “school shooting”. Another one was a group of adults getting into a argument in a school parking lot and one of them pulled out a gun. Again, not a school shooting in my opinion. The person I was talking with completely dismissed my opinions and still believes that all 18 should be classified as school shootings. Is it just me or is the mass majority of this country stuck on F—kin stupid??!
  17. You and me both. I haven’t seen any sales numbers for VW in awhile. Would be interesting to see how it affected the sales. There’s a TDI forum with a thread on “diesel gate”. It’s a few thousand pages long. There were a lot of people in there claiming to be “done” with VW and buying other brands. I know I’ll never buy another VW product for the rest of my life.
  18. Nice! Funny you mention the small rear end issue. My neighbor bought a new 100hp kubota a couple years ago and he tore that thing up real quick. He found a small wimpy rear end after the tear down. Compared to older Fords the kubota was a toy as he called it. He always tells me everytime we talk tractors somewhere along the story, “that’s FORD HP we’re talking bout here, not that damn kubota HP”.
  19. That’s exactly what I’ve heard and read online about them. That’s all I want out of a tractor, good HP, simple and ready to be worked to death. There’s a workmaster 55 on Craigslist right now that I’ve been drooling over for almost a month now lol.
  20. Good luck on the tractor shopping. I’ve been at it for 2 years lol. Wife is going to cave any day now I can just feel it!🤣 I’m looking to get into a New Holland workmaster when the time comes. Has just the right amount of features for what I want to do, but saves you money over the higher optioned Boomer series. I know a lot of guys running NH’s with little to no complaints. Not sure what kinda dealers you have out your way but you should take a look if ya can. I figure that no one can make the right buy if they didn’t look at all the options first. Especially on something as awesome as tractors!
  21. Go with whatever ones make ya happy. At 2.5 yr change outs your already not doing that bad at all. I’m swapping on new tires every year just about with the mileage we put on our trucks. I’m happy with 40-50k out of a AT tire. Mud terrains I’m happy to get 30-35k from. Anything more or less is either a fairy tale or junk.
  22. I was one of those people with a TDI sitting in my driveway waiting for a buy back. I liked watching that episode of dirty money. Got to see how it all really went while we all sat around waiting with little to no info for well over a year. The lying and fraud done by VW is disgusting but I know it’s all the company’s doing the same crap one way or another. Hard to swallow that if you personally committed fraud, you’d be sent to jail and would have that black cloud hanging over you for life. A “corporation” commits fraud and they can just shell out millions and go on with business as usual. The lengths VW went to to cover up their fraud was the most disturbing. Like the tests on the monkeys they did to try and provide a fake test showing the exhaust wasn’t harmful. They wanted to use a human first though! I mean, I know the germans have a thing for gas chambers but damn![emoji15]
  23. I’d suggest multiple boots to match the conditions. I’ve got uninsulated rubber Lacrosse Alpha Burlys that I like a lot and use from 25 degrees and up. They are also pretty good to hike around in, tight fitting and not clunky. Wearing a mid weight wool sock gets me down to just below freezing with these boots. If it’s dry and above 25 degrees and I have a lot of walking around to do I’ll wear my Cabelas tactical trainer boots. I have two pairs of these boots, I love them. I wear one pair around daily as I’m not a sneaker fan. Very comfy, lightweight and have held up to all sorts of abuse. I use to wear some Danner tactical boots that I loved but they are like $150 more than these cabelas boots. Some guys don’t like the “tactical” boots but I’ve found them to be incredibly comfy and great for hiking or just doing whatever. O and the cabelas boots have gore Tex as well, so no worries about wet grass or shallow creek crossings. For working around the house and farm, I have Muck Chore boots. Not a boot you’d want to walk across the mountains in but a great farm work boot. They are insulated a bit so they are awesome in the winter but can be a bit too warm come summer. Those are my top 3 that I use the most. I have a older pair of 1000 gram Rocky’s that I use on super cold days or when we ice fish. But it just goes to show that you pretty much need multiple pairs of boots. Need the right tool for the job!
  24. Do it. You won’t regret it. Many guys are still running their cams from over 10 years ago. That should tell ya something.
  25. I need to check cams again soon. I prolly have a couple with dead batteries by now. But I did check early in January and was glad to see this 10 pointer made it. Hoping he stays around and puts on a lot more bone for next year My does are looking nice and fat and ready for the long winter
