  1. Looks like a nice morning to be out. Just got out of work and have the kids till noonish. I’ll be out for the afternoon. Really need to put something down, I’m burning through venison like crazy.
  2. I’m having trouble seeing it being 188 to begin with. Lot of mass but tines aren’t crazy long. Pics are hard to tell sometimes but I don’t see a 180 incher there. I could be wrong but I think it’s closer to high 160s
  3. Would be nice to see them in the adirondacks but unfortunately I don’t think it would be possible. Like a few others mentioned already about the grazing problems. The Adirondacks dont have the pastures like they do out west. Not to mention most farms in NY are relatively small in size, making any crop damage a big hit to them vs a 30 thousand acre ranch in Montana. Elk need to much graze land that we just don’t have. If the state cleared some big areas out there could be a possibility of it but I don’t see that ever happening. They are some awesome animals though, I need to get back out west on a hunt soon.
  4. Good luck to you! Your shop looks real nice and clean. I’m not in your area but if I was I’d bring deer to ya. Make sure your advertising on Facebook, nothing gets info around faster these days than FB.
  5. Out in the blind with my little man. One lone doe has been feeding since 230.
  6. Dropped me a spike at 532am. Is that a little before shooting hours? Ooops. Just kidding...kinda....while I did drop a spike, it was with my truck on my way to get coffee this morning. [emoji85]. Damn thing ran into my driver door. I caught a glimpse of him in the corner of my eye right as he was hitting my door, must of rolled under truck and I got him with the rear tires. I finished the 1/2 mile ride to the coffee shop and inspect for damage, nothing major, push in the bottom of the door ever so slightly. By the time I got back to where I hit him, someone was already tossing him into their truck. I stopped and asked if they needed a hand as I was the one who just hit him a few mins ago. They said nope all good and off we both went. I’m killing more deer with my vehicles than anything this year! I told my wife I’m done driving that car to work, I’m like a deer magnet on the road and need that truck to get me around in one piece
  7. If you can find a decent 3pt spreader for the tractor that would be the easiest way. If not, I’ve dumped it the bed of my truck and drove around and pushed it out the back as a makeshift drop spreader.
  8. Tiller is out of the question based on tractor choice alone. 6ft disc should be alright if your planning on plowing it first. Otherwise that size disc might not have enough weight to it to really turn it up like it needs to be. I highly suggest spraying roundup to kill all living vegetation before starting plowing or discing. Will make it much easier. You don’t “need” a cultipacker but they are really nice to have. You can get by with a cheaper plastic drum lawn roller which is what I use behind my atv. I see you said your plot is going to be about 3/4 of an acre. That’s not that big so you can handle spreading seeds by hand which you’ll need to do anyways with small seeds like turnips and such. Scott’s makes a small electric hand spreader that works awesome for these small seeds, $20 at Lowe’s. For spreading lime you could get a cheap tow behind spreader, or do it with smaller push spreaders. Have you done soil tests yet?
  9. Bottom pic, 2nd one up from the bottom. I like that one. Perfect mix, not too dark but not too light. Gonna be a nice bow either one you pick
  10. That sucks man. I’ve been there before. People can be some real upitty a-holes. Hopefully the landowner is cool and continues to let ya hunt. And hopefully the guy who called the cops hits a deer with his car haha
  11. Saws together, one out of two windows trimmed, back in the blind now. I was setting up the chair after getting in and when I turned around to sit a doe was already coming into the field 100 yards away. Been here about 25 mins now and she’s all by herself still. Let’s see what comes around this afternoon...
  12. Haven’t seen a thing yet. Gonna stick it out until 9. FIL brought me over a brand new table saw and miter saw last night so I need to get those put together so I can finish up the trim around the new windows I put in last weekend. Wife must not be feeling good either, because she said she’s going to Lowe’s today to look at some tools and stuff for me. She must really want these remodel projects to get into high gear🤷🏼‍♂️
  13. Nice and frosty here this AM. I’m in the blind over my big plot basking in the buddy heater warmth haha. The 10 point I’m after crossed this plot on Tuesday afternoon, glad to see he made it through opening weekend and hoping he comes back through again soon.
  14. Decided to take a walk down my creek bottom trail and follow it around to a stand I have. Along the way there’s been a hang on stand up in a pine tree a good 70-80 yards into the property only I have permission on. I never saw anyone in it last year or bow season this year but today I come across a guy sitting in it. I had some words with him, told him to pull the stand when he’s done hunting today or I’m getting the land owner involved. I knew I heard a gun shot down this way last weekend. I asked him about it but of course denied shooting anything. I left it off by walking down my path into the swamp he faces hoping to blow every deer out of the area on my way out.
  15. At least we won’t have to worry about having to sit through anymore “Fear no evil” with Chris brackett when it’s the only show on. That tool bag just tanked his career. Even have a funny meme to go with this great news!
  16. Do they purposely try and slow the story line down? Sure seems like it sometimes.
  17. Sat till 10am with no sightings. Pretty unusual but o well. Had my kiddo until the wife got home so I made it back out here around 230. A lone doe walked into the field about 5 mins after climbing in the blind. She’s feeding all by herself still. Snowing pretty hard at times and pretty windy too. Can’t kill em from the couch I had to tell me self to come back out today...season is starting to wear on me.
  18. Damn maybe pink rifles are good luck. Might have to pick up one for “the wife” [emoji6]
  19. Can’t believe I haven’t had a deer come into the plot yet. I should of brought food to sit here all day, incredibly warm and comfy watching the snow fall.
  20. Congrats. Did everyone else hear all those shots opening day? It sounded like a war zone from where I was sitting. I’m northwest of Greenville a few miles with a good amount of elevation so I could hear all around. Makes me wonder if any good bucks survived all that lol
  21. 2 inches of fresh snow here this morning. I was almost gonna sleep in until I got out of bed to go check my weather station thing in the kitchen and turned my porch lights on and saw that beautiful snow. I never want to miss hunting the first real ground covering of snow, it just always seems like I see a lot of deer those days. So I’m out in the blind over my food plot, basking in the warmth of the buddy heater(top 10 of best inventions

  23. Wind just wind just started. And rain came back. Was nice and calm with on and off light drizzle. I can’t stay long anyways. My FIL is supposed to be coming up to help me install 2 new windows on my house. Not sure that’s gonna happen if this rain keeps up
  24. 7 does and 2 spikes in the field. Come on big boys. I got the does, come and get em
  25. That’s rough. Hate the no sightings days. Keep warm and hope ya see something soon
