  1. Slipped out of work early and climbed a tree. Got in around 548. Beautiful dead calm morning. I hear some crunching leaves in the thick stuff to my left. Saw lots of deer in fields yesterday morning well past 8am. Hoping they repeat that kind of behavior.
  2. Haha I'm prolly even worse at math but nah not that many. I've whacked around 100. Exact number unknown. Let's just say 100 for easy math, I guess that would put me around 95% recovery then.
  3. Always good when you have decent neighbors.
  4. I walked to my creek bottom stand Sunday evening and it was quite crunchy. I would like to have the leaves blown off but man that would be a ton of work and a lot of noise and pressure. I've found that it's easier to just go in a few mins earlier and walk slow. Take a few steps and stop. Pick your steps carefully and just try to be a silent ninja lol. The 5 pointer I let go Sunday evening I could hear him coming from almost 200 yards away. He was just stomping along the creek bottom. But he walked right by me and continued on down my atv trail that I just walked down earlier. He didn't smell my tracks at all. Walked away without a care in the world.
  5. Can't remember how many I've killed. But I know I've lost at least 4 or 5 over the last 15 years. I'd say that would put my recovery rate around 99%
  6. Here's a few pics of what I was talking about. It's the well pump control box. Yours should look similar to these pics. The capacitor is the black cylinder looking thing. Mine burnt up and leaked a oily substance all over in the box and as I continued to fiddle around with it, started smoking like crazy. Now if your control box is like mine, the capacitor part is on the front panel that you pull off the control box. So when I bought a new box(because they won't just sell you the $10 capacitor you gotta buy the $95 entire box) and took the front cover from the new one and just put it into the old rest of the box. That way I didn't have to redo all the wiring. It's a very quick fix and it's apparently a more common issue vs a entire well pump going. What the control box should look like before taking cover off. Few different sizes in this pic. Will depend on how many HP your well pump is as to what size box you have. If you go for replacement box make sure to write down the exact HP rating and all other specs listed just to help make sure you get the right one from the plumbing supply store. Here's a diagram of a usual well system. I'm no well expert I'm just a DIY guy and found this diagram useful when I was trying to diagnose my problems. I actually knew next to nothing about any of this until I had problems and had to self teach myself with the help of google and plumbing forums lol
  7. Temps aren't going to get too cold within the next 2 weeks at least so you might be able to get some decent growth. A lot of it will depend on how much moisture you have. I'm dry as a bone here and wouldn't think about planting anything because of it. If we had been getting some decent rains the last month, I'd try it but for me it would be way too dry. We do have some rains moving in over the next week so that might help. If you don't mind the possibility of wasting money on seed, toss it out and see what happens!
  8. Well after reading those entire thread it's pretty crazy to see how far one way or another people will drag the little bit of information we have. I'm not making any personal conclusions as to what happened, it's still too early to know. Without all the FACTS, none of us can know 100% for sure. And to me, if your not 100% it's basically a waste of time to say it went down one way or another because the argument will always continue until the facts settle it. BUT, if I had to put my 2 cents in...from what I've seen I believe it's a single shooter who had the time and resources to plan and execute this incredibly deadly massacre. I don't know enough about military grade weapons to tell you what he was shooting by the sound of it. But what I do know is that the guy had a massive amount of disposable money. And as all of us should already know, money solves every problem one way or another. If this guy planned this out he would of known he needed the weapons capable of firing a ton of rounds at a fast rate with little to no downtime for reloading. If that required him to spend big bucks on high end and maybe even one off pieces of equipment, looks like he was the man who could financially pull it off. This could be something he's been planning for some time now, with lots of free time and all that money he could have easily amassed the right equipment for the job. Staging the weapons before beginning he probably had everything setup perfect to keep him firing. Spent a couple days slowly bringing his things up in suit cases isn't a far fetched thing to believe so I'm not sure why some waste time debating over how he got them up in the room. Pretty easy to disassemble stuff and pack it away. As far as his motives go, it's too early for us to know that. The Feds need time to investigate and get this story straight. And I don't blame them for not saying much so far or as little as possible at least. We all see how the media is spinning this and the conspiracy theories that come with it. The Federal government has taken a beating in public opinion the last few years, especially with the latest election. If they want to keep up public morale they need to be diligent and bring only 100% verified facts to light. If that takes a few days more or weeks, that's fine by me. In the end it's a terrible tragedy and I hope the families who lost loved ones have all the time in the world that they need to mourn and piece what's left of their lives back together. And I really wish our political leaders would stop the BS of turning this into national debates on laws and regulations of this or that.
  9. Still lots of season left to go. You'll get one.
  10. 45 mins before first light. So roughly around 545am you wanna be up in the tree
  11. A lot of stuff could be wrong. Well pumps don't go bad all that often. I'd do a good check on the interior plumbing like the pressure switch and stuff. I lost water a few months back and thought it was the well pump. Found the control board for the well pump blew a resistor. It's inside next to the holding tank so it was easy to swap out.
  12. Well I had a good evening. No deer down but if I had another 20 mins of shooting light that may have been a different story. I watched 5 does and 2 bucks come out into the field across the road about 480 yards away. They came out around 6pm and fed their way my direction. I didn't think they would come towards me or cross the road for that matter. But sure enough the does were wanting to cross and the bucks were following a little ways behind. The one buck was a really nice 8 pointer that I would have shot given the chance. I'm gonna say he was around the 130 mark. Closest he got was 243 yards but I spent a long time sizing him up in the binos. The other buck was smaller but a 10 point. He needs another couple years. The 8 pointer was mature and he knew it. Fun to watch him corral the does around and keep the smaller 10 point back away from the does a bit. Other than that I had a raccoon and a house cat walk the rock wall underneath my stand. Hoping I can get another chance at that big 8. Just need him to cross the road a little sooner.
  13. Hell ya that would be cool. Anniversary buck. I like it. Whack em and stack em buddy
  14. I know I should probably have gone back to the creek bottom where there's a small pond for water on this warm day. But this stand and land is all new to me this year and I wanted to give it a sit and see what I see. This is part of the 70+ acres of the farmer I got permission from back in spring. And idk about you guys but I have a dead east wind blowing when weather app said north wind. This is one of the few east wind stands I've got. Across the road is a big swampy area that the farmer tells me holds lots of big bucks and bear. There's a thicket of spruce trees on my right between me and the road that they seek shelter in and run to first when crossing the road. Cam has shown a lot of activity around dusk so let's see what happens. Lovin this ice cool breeze though.
  15. Hang in there. They will be around sooner or later. Good luck tonight. I'm out as well. Beautiful evening, sitting in the shade at least haha. That suns a bit warm but this shady breeze at 20 ft up feels awesome.
  16. Only TWO days off allowed in November!!??[emoji15][emoji15][emoji33][emoji33] I just looked at the calendar, I'm set to work 12 days out of all of November lol. And that's not counting any days I decide to call in when the weather is just right lol
  17. 2 days in and we already got a celebrity button buck. Damn it's gonna be a good year lol
  18. Slept in this morning. Haven't slept more than 3 hours in the last 4 days so I needed a recharge. Got a good nights rest and I'll be out there this afternoon. Good luck all
  19. Spike walked by around 455. Lots of squirrels. My neck hurts from looking all around.
  20. Down in my creek bottom ladder stand. A bit warm but it will cool off quick. I checked the camera I have 20 yards from the stand and it's broken! Like something punctured the motion sensor. Weird as hell. It was still on the tree just a little crooked. I checked the card and there was a bear on there like a week ago, but the last few pics it took was of a small buck walking by. I'm not sure what did it. Here's some of my view
  21. Moog toss a stick out to him. That's what I do when that happens to me. Works pretty good.

  23. Seems like the majority here are seeing a good amount of movement this morning. Good to hear!
