I was headed out to work on a treestand and parked the truck in the corner of my field. Just as I turned the truck off, 2 hens and 5 poults stepped out into my ATV path ~15 yards in front of my truck. Not wanting to spook them, I thought I'd sit and wait for them to wander back inside the woods. Apparently, they had other plans! They all squatted down and began grooming themselves! After 25 minutes, they stood up and began walking towards the truck. When they got ~10' in front of the truck, they again squatted down and began dusting and grooming themselves! They had no fear of the truck what so ever! After about 10min, they walked right past the truck and began catching grasshoppers in the field. They found a shady spot ~80 yards away and again squatted down! Not wanting to spook them, I decided to drive the truck down the path further, inside the woods and out of sight of them. Unlike them, I had sh stuff to do! I spent an hour or so working on the stand. When I came out, they were still lounging in the shade in the field! LOL BTW, that's the hood and side mirror of my truck in the pics, they were that close!

Mock Scrape Getting Some Attention
Cabin Fever replied to Cabin Fever's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I usually just wiz in them myself, but I was at Dicks Sporting Goods the other day and picked up a bottle of Bob Kirshners Silver Top to try. (Impulse buy ) http://www.bobkirschnerdeerlure.com/attractant/attractant.html This is my first experience with it, so I really don't know how well it may or may not work. -
I assume this is the same tom. He might be trippin' over that beard by next spring!! LOL
-
Very cool idea wooly! Never seen anything like that before.
-
Is that branch still present/dangling there? Can you nail it back up to reattach?
-
Although earlier than I normally start them, I thought I would get a couple mock scrapes fired up to see if they would get any attention yet. Getting some love already!

When I first saw this doe, I thought she was either being a wise-ass or was really scared!! After reviewing all the pics, I think she just had a big crabapple in her mouth and was trying to chew it up! LOL (Cam is overlooking a crabapple tree) Funny none the less!

I think it's the same buck.

Interesting! Thanks for posting. Having never seen it done myself, I just assumed it would just be hung up like a deer and skinned. Learned something new today! I would love to get a bear someday!

Sounds like a great day on the lake! Looking at those perch, now I'm getting hungry!
-
Looks like your efforts are paying off. Good luck!
-
My favorite kind!! LOL

Good God what a buck! He really put on a show for you with all those poses! LOL

Just came across the piebald pic that I got ~10 years ago. Kind of interesting that the piebald from this year has the same white characteristics as the one ~10 years ago, mainly white on butt and belly! LOL Weird!!
-
The pic was taken ~45 miles from there.
-
When I was scanning through my pics, I thought it was a dog at first! I haven't seen another piebald on the property for ~10 years! Pretty cool. I hope it makes it!

Cool! Looking forward to my first bear pic on my property! One of these days....

Half in and half out of velvet
Cabin Fever replied to Buckstopshere's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Is it a black flash? I had a couple Primo's black flash models that I tried out, but ended up returning them, due to most of the night time blurred images, making the critters unrecognizable! -
Hope you get more pics of the one on the bottom. The passenger side looks like it's got some interesting stuff going on!

A Little $ Saving Tip for Trailcams...
Cabin Fever replied to Cabin Fever's topic in General Chit Chat
Good to know about the off brands! I've ONLY fed my cams Duracells for the past ~15 years! I'll give the store brands a try... after I use up the 100pk of Duracells that I just bought that is!
