  1. One barrel is rifled to accept sabots, the other is smooth bore for regular slugs. No bird barrel. It's mainly a deer gun.
  2. No it does not accept a choke. smooth bore for deer slugs.
  3. Mossberg 500 12 ga pump action shotgun. Includes rifled barrel and smooth bore barrel. Drilled and tapped for scope. Good Condition. Asking $280
  4. Remington 700 Mountain rifle. 30-06 caliber. Detachable magazine. 22 inch barrel. Good condition. One owner. asking $475. Not including scope/rings/bases.
  5. A box of rifle shells usually have plastic bullet holders inside. Two holders of 10 each. I just cut one in half to hold 5 and place it in my front chest pocket.
  6. I don't clean the metal parts as long as they are functioning, but think of the odor that might be comming from the wrist band especially if you do alot of shooting in the summer. I'm sure the scent control freaks have thought of that as well.
  7. How is NYB dividing the bowhunting community? I assume you are referring to the xgun debate. Xguns are illegal during archery season in NY and I don't consider them archery equipment. NYB is simply standing up for the bowhunting community against the intrusion of a superior weapon which is more similar to gun then a bow. Folks that want to change the law have an opinion but it is not a right of some kind which NYS is opposing and those folks are dividing hunters.
  8. Your kids will like the HFL schools. I assume they would go there if you moved to Lima. I have two kids in the district now.
  9. I think you are wrong. NYB negotiated for this time when the DEC took the last weekend of archery season for the gun season. DEC agreed to compensate archery season by opening early. DEC reneged. Now we are just getting what was agreed upon. p.s. you need NYB on that wall. You can't handle the truth...
  10. Poor excuses. So what happens when these kids turn 16? There's no room at camp for them because of the selfish adults. Do they hang it up at age 16?
  11. I thought the first step was when they moved opening day to a saturday, against stiff oppositon, so the kids could hunt. Archery lost the last weekend of their season which can't be made up by days in October. How did that blind experiment work? No effect. Neither will the youth hunt. Kids want to take part like adults during the regular season. So please take your kids with you to camp. Hunting during the heat of October is no substitute. Lowering the age to hunt from 16 will help the problem, hopefully its not too late. WNY, stop stalking my posts. its creepy.
  12. Wow. Easier than sighting in my 12 ga. More accurate too.
  13. Do you guys understand WHY the Dec is opening archery season Oct 1st? It's not because it makes sense or for better/greater archery opportunities. It comes at a cost which will be a rifle season, muzzleloader season, and possibly xguns during archery season. Not a trade off I welcome with open arms.
  14. The stamp on the barrel says "cylinder bore". Probably Improved cylinder and too open for turkey as Early suggested. Maybe good enough for rabbits which i'll try next winter.
  15. Great info guys. The gun is a Mossberg 500 with a slug barrel. Smooth bore. Just wanted to know how it would preform compared to a gun with a choke tube. I'll look to see if there is anything stamped on the barrel.
  16. I have a 12ga smoothbore shotgun without a choke tube. I have others with but was wondering if a choke tube is needed for good paterns on game like turkey?
  17. How would this get hunting numbers up? 99% of these guys still buy their regular season license and participate in gun season. It will certainly get archery numbers up by transitioning gun hunters into archery season.
  18. When I can no longer use my vertical bow I'll just look forward to gun season.
  19. "huge influx of people". Yes, that is one of the main concerns. Don't be fooled with all the talk of the xgun being a recruitment tool. I am a gun hunter but enjoy the seperation of archery season and the challenges it poses. The big push for xbows is from gun hunter looking to transition into archery season without all the challenges of archery equipment.

Sorry Paula. Bubble and Sats don't quite know how to behave. Not really the face of hunting we want to portray.
  21. Great idea if it happens. Actually dealing with the problem of youth recruitment instead of trying to bandaid the symptoms with special seasons and xbow nonsense.
  22. Youth hunt will have no impact like moving opening day to saturday had no impact. Treating the symptoms and not the cause. Yes kids will participate in the youth hunt just like they would have participated in opening day.

It's sad when people won't take a kid hunting on opening day becuase they don't want to sacrafice it so they need a "special season" to do so. 75% of all deer are killed the first two days. How is that not a good opportunity for kids? It's not all that cold out either the first weekend. What a bunch of excuses.

I have two kids under 12 and want them to enjoy the seasons as I have. Not these gimmick seasons bubbahead. The definishion of greed is those that have their own season(gun season) and want more(archery season).
