"Business is business," I get that. But, when you stab your clients in the back for capitalistic gain that is morally incomprehensible to me. Best example I can make is PM. PM makes a product which at the end of the day keeps me in business yet kills and causes extreme suffering. In fact some close friends of mine made a killing earlier this year investing in PM. Morally, I could not do that. Justifying DKS decision by saying it was purely business or whatever other excuse you make for them only shows what your priority may be. I am not saying that's right or wrong. That's for you to decide. In my book it was a disappointment and I will avoid giving them business if I can.

lol now the sad part is we all knew this video would conclude with a deer farting but we watched it anyway best part was at 00:09, squeezed it out like no ones business then looks around hoping no one heard that one I would score that a 7.5/10, extra point for the tail curl

I pretty much avoid dicks sporting goods after the stunt they pulled last year. Lets not forget they jumped to remove the so called assault rifles off their shelves even before this safeact business. Talk about stabbing the customers who keep them in business in the back.

Virgil, I just noticed you are selling in Cortland county. I have an agent friend that is usually very negotiable, very aggressive and gets the job done. Let me know if you want the info.
-
standard is 7% and gets divided between the seller and buyers agent, you can easily negotiate it to 5% total, I have bought and sold a decent amount of real estate, another tactic I use is when I get a lower offer than my list price I tell the agents to each take a cut from there commission to make the deal happen, they don't make much off of land so they are more than happy to just get something and get rid of the listing, as others mentioned exposure is the key to selling quick, this is hard to do on your own since agents monopolize the MLS, if the market is hot at your location you can try the FSBO thing but I wouldn't recommend it

Planting apple and pear trees
fu2lmao replied to Fletch's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
It's an active pasture. I let my neighbor use it for his cattle and he watches over my property. I have heard apples make cows intoxicated due to fermentation. There are a few crab apple trees scattered around the pastures. -

Saturday I headed out into the woods and on my way in I notices some fresh deer tracks in and out of a known game trail. I decided to park myself there hidden behind some fallen tree branches. After sitting in the cold rain for 4 hrs I decided to move to a new location. I had recently discovered some new trails which lead to the interior of my property and skirted around a large hill in the center of the property. The trails were wet and I figured I get in there silently and get some deer to move as I had seen zilch all morning. About 15 yrds into my walk I run into this huge black bear. When I say this guy was pushing past a conservative 500lbs I am not exaggerating. He made a quick trot for about 50yrds into some heavy woods then slowed down a bit and began to walk towards me again. I wasn't certain if he had seen me and was just looking around. At this point, I crapped my pants thinking it this is one of those 1 in a million black bears that turns out not to be timid I am in trouble. At about 60yrds he walks between a V-shaped maple that gave me about a 1ft by 1ft space directly to his chest. I had nothing to lean on as it was a wide open trail and not possible to kneel down due to the elevation in terrain. If I was gonna do it it was to be a free standing shot. The rifle fires and this massive bear darts up the steep terrain. Half way up the hill he slows down to a moderate trot and it is not clear to me if he was hit or not. He hides behind some branches but still on the move in my direction on the side of the hill and I thought if I can get a shot he will come rolling down the hill as if he reaches the top there is no way I am getting up there in this rain. I take a second shot but I knew the second shot was a poor one due to all the cover. On the second shot he darts up the hill and when he reaches the very top he stops and looks at me for a minute. If there was ever a more perfect shot that would have been it but like I said it wasn't a good day to climb that mountain so I let him go his way. Now this all happened in a matter of seconds to minutes. After the excitement winds down I pull out my gps to turn it on as I still wasn't sure if my first shot was successful and I was going on a tracking mission in deeper woods. Go figure my battery is dead. I pull out my iphone and sure enough battery is on its way out. I look around and see no blood so I head back to camp grab a fresh pair of batteries. My neighbor had heard the shots and came to see if I needed help dragging something out of the woods. We both head out and trace my steps. We saw where the first bullet had hit a thick branch in the tree. The second shot I had doubts on but we wanted to make sure this awesome animal was not injured by it. So we treck up the steep hill slipping and sliding the whole way. We follow his tracks and not a drop of blood for about a mile. His tracks finally go into my neighbors swampy area and lost it from there. While on this mission we ran into tons of deer. A couple were quite nice but it was their lucky day as we were on a different mission. I headed back home with a great story, bruised ego and sore muscles from tackling that terrain. I hope to run into this guy again someday unless I have permanently scared this giant away.

Great, saw a couple during spring turkey season, none this fall yet, I keep hearing the area has a decent population of them, yet to run into any dens

When I was shopping for a Lake Ontario parcel I ran into a few of these. One 10acre lot had like 10 5 gallon buckets on a wagon. Looks like it was a mobile operation.

UTV or camo'ed out golf cart????
fu2lmao replied to fu2lmao's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
Ray, I take it you are not familiar with badboy buggies. They are sold as electric UTV's. I am just saying they look like a golf cart to me. I have no intentions of driving a golf cart into the woods -
In the process of finalizing my UTV choice. Anyone tried out a Badboy Buggy? It looks like a golf cart to me. They seem to push it on all the hunting programs. Thoughts?

have used the WGI brand and didn't care for it although have heard from others its good, I usually just browse and delete with the cam screen or swap out the cards and wait til I get home

Browning A-Bolt 30-06 New!!!!
fu2lmao replied to fu2lmao's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Well the full story is I have the A-bolt already in a 270. I absolutely love it but thought it would be kind of silly to have the 2 side by side in the safe. Actually, she was the one who suggested for me to sell/trade after she realized herself I had been checking out the x-bolt. The rifle was only a small part of the gift as there were plenty of other goodies she got me. dbH I like your idea of changing out the stock at some point. After talking it over with some of my buds I have decided to keep it and enjoy it. Thanks for those that PM'ed with interest. -
bubba, seen any black bears your way this season?
-
I received a nice Browning A-Bolt black synthetic stock 30-06 as a gift today from my awesome wife. I was actually hoping for an X-bolt so would consider selling this one or trading for a woodstocked rifle of similar value (got the ok from her to sell if I wanted). The rifle is brand new, never ever fired and the bolt hasn't even been put in!!! If someone is interested you could save on sales tax and will take the FFL cost into consideration. Otherwise will just have to site this one in and get it ready for next year.

I had an encounter with a yote a few years ago. I live in suburb and its pretty uncommon to see any coyotes out here. I was out mowing the lawn on a ride on mower. I heard my corgi barking away and drove over to see what the commotion was about. Right by my garage door I see this skinny looking thing starring down my dog in the middle of the day and it took me a few seconds to realize it was a coyote. I yelled at my dog to go inside and rev the tractor towards the yote to scare him away. He didn't budge and proceeded to relieve himself like he was marking territory. He had no fear whatsoever despite me yelling, approaching him with a tractor or throwing a rock his way. He took off when he felt he wanted to and made no effort to run off. Thinking back I am pretty sure he was sick (rabid???). I don't trust yotes at all.
