  1. when you hang from the hind quarters it allows the blood to pool in the neck/shoulder....the blood remaining there preserves the coat better for mounting... we hang all deer by head at camp unless its going to be mounted.

    Deer Calls

I used to overuse as well. I would think that if a buck was near by he'd run in to check out this bleating doe but nothing like that yet. Now I more or less use it throughout the day every 1-1 1/2 hours I'll do one bleat then wait. My theory is when I use the can I'm just telling the deer "it's ok just a deer here"-

    Deer Calls

I've had luck with the can doe bleat in a bunch of different situations. I've used it on deer from a distance and watched them change route to come near the sound. They weren't running in but definitely seemed much more at ease thinking another deer was near. I've also had success in deer that were spooked but not by me. I watched 2 doe sprint as if being chased about 150-200yds away running away the opposite direction. I hit the can 3x and the deer made a huge circle right to me. I mean right on top of me, 5yds away panting like a race horse. Both deer were breathing so hard the tongues were hanging out like dogs. Was so cool to experience.

  6. That's great. I'm gonna check it out this weekend. Cunningham park is 2 blocks from my girlfriends apartment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Where in fresh meadows?! There is a lot of nothing for a deer over there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I have. From Long Island to exit 19 on NYS Thruway. Trailer with 2 quads. The trailer is registered but I just go thru regular ezpass and never had an issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I was bowhunting last year when I watched a red tailed hawk fly off a branch 40yds in front of me. I thought it was cool to watch, until he turned and flew right at me. I kept waiting for him to veer off but when he got to within 5ft or so I waived my arms and screamed out the old "oh sh*t" defense tactic. My father was hunting with his buddy on private property. They had driven there truck in and parked. They met at the truck around noon after deer hunting for lunch. As they were eating in the truck something smashed into the truck shaking the whole thing. They both had no idea what was going on, then it happened again. This time they watched the 300-400lb bear back peddle and start running to ram the side door again. After the 3rd hit they drove up 50yds and stopped. Apparently the bears cubs had wandered up the tree next to the truck. The cubs wouldn't come down because the truck was there. Once they drove up and stopped they climbed down and the 4 bear took off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. Just 2 of 7 I have on my property. The skids are good for a frame. I usually seal up with plywood. The one in the tree is fully enclosed. Porcupine LOVE plywood so wrap in aluminum if you want to leave out permanently. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Suffolk is tough. There are some great spots to hunt but those things are gonna happen. I've had a man and his wife pick mushrooms around me and under my tree for 3 hours. They had no clue I was there. I've also sat all day to have 2 women ride horses on a trail 5 yds from me. The horses took a huge dumps 10 yds from me before and after passing me. I couldn't hold back from saying something because that area was 100% closed off to Horses. Dogs, hunters, joggers, kids on quads, kids smoking pot, DEC, and a freaking peacock have all crossed my path in Suffolk. Guarantee you will experience more frustration. It's part of the game. 13. If I'm not mistaken, aren't some spots no deer hunting during pheasant? I'm talking about Suffolk state land. Maybe it was a specific day but I could have sworn I was denied a spot because it was pheasant hunting in that area only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Actually by punishing someone for speaking there mind, is taking away his right. For the record I do not agree with a single thing he said, however, he has the Right to say whatever he wants. Same thing when Al Sharpton calls racism anytime a black person is in trouble. I don't agree with anything he has to say, but he has the right to say it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Crazy....I've had some deer do the same but wow that's a lot lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
