  1. Nice. Good luck in the stand. Seen a monster 8pt cross 9G the other day.......
  2. Ya...I figured that, but it read funny. LOL Life is too short for ill behaved livestock. I wack any chicken that constantly stirs up the roost.
  3. Ya.....33 yards outside the kitchen window. With that distance and my X-bow, I could put one right in an earhole and..... Never mind.
  4. I've rarely had a rooster in with my layers....only when I wanted a bird for a cape for tying flies (mostly barred rocks or road island reds). Occasionaly I've had a super dominant hen who would screw up laying for the rest and I chopped their head off. There will always be a pecking order, where the saying comes from, but I've had 2 birds that took that to the extreme and beat up my other birds. At 7 years don't expect much for table fare....some broth maybe. LOL I used dead birds for coon bait.
  5. Choppers, guns, killing stuff; I'm in......when we going?
  6. I didn't read many of the posts in this thread but that sums ALL of it up right there for me.
  7. I have an email from Region 3 about this..... 1.5 ounces is legal.
  8. My town is divided by 3 districts..... I also bought where the cheapest was historically based on that, I can see up the road to one of the others. It has stayed that way. I would be almost 50% more for the same valuation there. If that baboon in the Whitehouse doesn't manage to derail the economy by getting us into another war and property values come back some in the next two years....I'm done here. Cash out and go play somewhere else; anything has to be better than this rotting corpse of a state.
  9. Bought my house at 23, paid the morgage off in 5 years...... I been paying taxes and I don't even have a kid! I get to pay for all the snot nosed, ill mannered, broken condom mistakes. I used to think it was a good thing as eduction is mark of a civil society. But then I meet all the pathetic excuses and I'm disgusted at what is now "learning".
  10. Found a hunt with Eric Rose hunting.....check out these stags with the 870....not those Maryland deer. LOL Love to wack one of those tuft eared squirrels!
  11. Here's some Japanese bear trail cam from that American......Happened to save that in one of my hunt files.... IIRC a boar would run almost 550Kg and sows around 350.
  12. Google up Nara Park..... I post on another forum where there is an American lawyer who did an experimental hunt bow only this year for overseas hunters by convincing the local authorities on Hokkiado the conservation could pay from hunting. Those Sika are a larger subspecies.($6500 for 2 stags/6 days, he has smoked some whoppers with a rem 870 slug gun; and had some good bear sightings, no shots)I don't have a link....google "Eric Rose,Sika hunt" or similar, should pull up a pic. He had a petition drive at one point for support. Tough to get a gun permit and hunt in Japan, very expensive yearly so they have dwindling local hunter numbers and over run with pigs and deer some places. These deer are closer to the Maryland sika size here in the US......a smaller deer, not sure of the base herd origin. Closest relative is Rusa found farther south in a much heavier package overall.
  13. Just looked on the DEC site.....That Kalicoontie R&G club is early Oct.....Thats a 22lr shooting club thats not too far from where I think your place is, they do some kids shoots there.
  14. Still got a place to stay in Germantown? Couple weekend courses earlier than that in Columbia I have seen fliers for......one in Livingston right there; another over in the new Hillsdale library; that was end of Sept IIRC.
  15. Axis or chital from India. That one horned stag on the end is a ripper; heavy mass.
  16. Whats an arrow rest? The thingy on the side that holds them when not being used, like they're resting ?
  17. Same here......I'm down the road a bit from there. I think the same guy heads all of them there; Frank? There's always a flier in the Pine Plains Stewarts for classes there it seems.
  18. Folks must make lousy choices on where to shop if you don't get quality service that would consider all of this right off the bat. Glad I don't have that problem.
  19. Geeze I never thought of that.<<<<<comedic sarchasm. Like I said.... I tell them I'm hunting xxxx......lets set it up. That can include a bunch of different info and parameters; right? I watch all the buzzwords in the industry and my guy has been talking the same things for the 10 years I known him; thats why I trust him. But I never shot anything but a couple squirrels, I'm just a newbie.

Didn't know what was going to be in this thread title..... Good you're still verticle. Be safe.
  21. Don't know, don't care. Thats what I pay the local bow shop guy for.....I'm hunting xxxxx, sell me stuff and set the bow up to shoot it correct.
  22. I know there a class coming up next week for 3 evenings at Millerton R&G...... Not sure of anything closer in Dutchess right now. Squirrel lasts for a spell season wise, so you may not make the opener but there's plenty ahead.
  23. Other than you like veggies......guess you can stay. Get signed up for a hunting safety class, that sometimes is the hardest part; they fill fast. Listings on DEC website; might be able to get something around Ulster so look for other counties nearby. Tree rats a bunch of fun to hunt.
