Oh crap.....got the dates mixed up!!!! Har har Saturday morning...... Wheels up at 11:15..... I hope. Just printed boarding passes. Triple checked rifles this morning, all cased. Ammo case packed. With a gun, ammo, and money? Who needs anything else? Now if I can just get a few hours sleep on that damn plane ride.

Just did a smallish project with it(12x20) and about to do 125' of 12' wrap around with it..... Used the concealoc fastners, both decks from their "arbor" collection. No issues, seems fine wet; I'd use it again. Done a pile of Azek trim, once you get used to dealing with the expansion and contraction; not a bad product. YMMV.

Lousy Meal At The ..........................................
Dinsdale replied to Lawdwaz's topic in General Chit Chat
You have no idea how small at times.....and I live downstate;<) I met Dave through my dad as he was a member of the local woodturners guild (my dad is an active member); I remember my father mentioning attending his services. Nice guy. Interesting twist this thread took. -
Lousy Meal At The ..........................................

Should have just gone to Ted's and had a footlong and a side of rings......Yum! -
No other way around it, farming is a tough business one way or another with mother nature in the mix. Sorry for the dissapointing season.

What if I want to read it here?

Need some more info.....I didn't read the other threads. Can someone explain this to me?

I'll have to open one of last years as I have a couple left and do a side by side;<) I'm all wrapped up today except for flushing my tubing. Actually had a rather enjoyable season with a few evenings but I'm WAY behind for hunt prep for a May trip and its fast approaching.....time to stop messing around with good eats. LOL Quarts, pints, and half pints for the year.

Sig Sauer p226 mk25, anyone own one
Dinsdale replied to WesternNY's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have owned several SIG's including the P226 (the mk25 has a picatinny grooved rail and an anchor if that stuff matters). Fat grip really fits my hands well, better than the slim 239 single stack I have for example. If it fits well in the hand, that would be what I was after. JMO I like the night sights which are stndrd on the version you are looking at. Its a SIG........whats not to like? But now I'm sure other makes will be suggested. LOL -
Columbia County Help Wanted
Dinsdale replied to Birddogg's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Might get a leed from CPS in Amenia; always been helpful when I buy small amounts of lime and fertilizer from them. -
Although late, my trees are just about right for production and have had a couple decent days. Taped about a third of what I have on tubing, and its the traditionally lower production sections, but the tank is easy to get to by the shop. Made a couple gallons in two evenings, and should have time next week to use up a pile of fire wood I want out of the way. Wish I could could help some of you upstate guys out.

I know a guide who works for SEPAC; thats the guide service run by Quebec.(he ran a Caribou camp I was in and his wife was cook and BIL another guide there) Rack size has been steadily going down for more than a few years. I think it would be an interesting hunt, maybe not so much for a monster whitetail but for the whole experience. You can do the Euro plan a bit cheaper if you have experience in packing light in food and gear. Rather do some walking than sit in a stand for 5 days in any case as many other hunts are done.

I have field boned entire animals with mine and several pigs.(I have 3) I feel the more experienced you are at animal breakdown the more you can do. Applying side pressure or torquing a blade will snap them, so it helps if you already understand how to approach cuts without fishing around for joints and such. JMO

No fences, like most places they have feeders out for deer and all the other wildlife hits up leftovers in general, acres range from 15-25K depending.... Cost ranges depending on hunt....but generally 1695 semi to 2995 guided. He has one place with no roads for 1000 for a DIY....plus cost of license IIRC $48.

Only because its a private land tag, I know the outfitter, and success rates of getting an animal on the ground would be pretty good in his opinion on a diy hunt.
-
Cool. I've seen mixed reviews on eating Javelina.....any comment? Try it?

How did you do? Can't just leave us hanging.

Same here......lots of delicious ways to use syrup. Almost too busy to tap this year but these temps have me out there again. LOL Ran a new chimney today, and as a few evenings this week will get me a boilin'. Screw that overtime crap.

Thats high on my list, but West Texas. I know a reputable outfitter who manages several ranches.....guided and LO tag DIY. Headed back to Namibia (Africa) for a couple weeks in May/June.......and I STILL haven't decided on what rifle to take.Uhhhh, this crappy weather hasn't had me shooting near enough. Hoping to chase some Fallow that a friend from Texas has running around his lease this fall; just need to see what work is doing for me and dates. If work is steady, may just do a Tahr hunt in New Zealand that I cancelled out of years ago when a partner took a fall in a climbing accident. Love to do that one DIY, but finding hunting partners who can actually have the funds and do the hunt is like herding cats.

Looked at a property in SW New Mexico a few years ago. Good water on 25 acres was dirt cheap. No electric, but now that easier with solar. If I could scratch out a living there I would have bought it......just too little going on work wise for me right now. But I'm going to be looking around at other areas in the state to relocate.

Preference Points for out of state Hunting
Dinsdale replied to BizCT's topic in Out of New York Hunting
I know an outfitter that does semi guided out of LG4 for "early"; drive up and a short hop in a Beaver(or Otter) to camp. I've only driven as far as LG 1 and that was enough. LOL Took a few nice bulls way up in Quebec, damn fine country up that way. Ptarmagin, monster brookies and lakers too. They had talk of limiting one bou' for Leaf River herd, but are back to 2. Lots of problems with over booking camps from some outfitters up that way, best to shop VERY careful if chasing Quebec hunts. -
That looks like a good amount of info to me; glad you posted. Seen more than a couple out of state outfitters build a business around posting on internet forums and many have terrific reputations. Some cool looking critters there.....

Just a suggestion from someone who has booked hunts off forum offers...... List your full contact info; address, company name, license number, web site (if you have one). I would NEVER book a hunt with someone who doesn't list a real address for their business, and po boxes don't cut it. (on many forums thats a hard and fast rule or you get deleted) Method of take; baiting, bow, gun, spear, knife, night spot lighting, daytime, chinese throwing stars......give an idea on how a typical hunter goes about your hunt. I see you posted this on a Michigan forum also today.....we're just a bunch of yankees and you're selling an out of the ordinary species for most; so how about some details of how this unfolds as a hunt. Put up some pics of what is RECENT average, every outfitter wants to show off the "big one" they shot 10 years ago, but that really doesn't put out what is realistic. Post some prices and what that includes and doesn't; like cost of an out of state license for a hunter, lodging(even if that is a nearby hotel). If you can't list a price in public, whats the difference if I call you and get one? Either way I'm looking to compare for the average in the industry for the same hunt one way or the other......so sell yourself a little on what I'm getting for the $$$. Just my thoughts.
