I was sitting in my stand one day about 12 foot up and looked in the tree to the side of me there was a wood chuck looking right at me. He was about 12 foot up in the tree. I never knew until then that a wood chuck could climb trees.

When I posted this yesterday at the time I did not know that it was one of my very good friends and a great hunting buddy. He was a CO at Oneida County jail. An ouitstanding father and just a all around great guy. I will have a lot of memory's my friend. Rest in peace Todd and you will never be forgot.

HB GREAT JOB!!!! That is a great trophy buck right there! Awsome job by you and your friend. Congrats to both of you and good luck to you this season. You deserve a great deer as well for your great heart.

What me and my family do is when we have gotten the nice wall hanger we have called our local taxidermist and we take the deer to him and let him cape it out. You can still cut the deer up but let the pro's cape it so you do not remove to much hide.

4 or 5 years back my cousin shot a big 4 pointer that was still in full velvet. It was a buck with all the male parts and the horns were still soft. They never hardend up. He was going to have just the horns mounted but his bird dog ate them changing those plans.
