Yea they will dig through the snow to get to the turnips. We planted about 1/2 an acre last year and in january there was still hardly any snow on the plot from them digging in it all the time.
We plant our Brassica plots starting the last 2 weeks in July up to the first week in August. But i am in central NY so things get cold fast around here
I have used both. 3 of us have been using the aerotips for years now and i have killed at least two deer a year with them. My father is also taking them to colorado in a week and has once before and shot 150 yards with one and dropped the mule deer 10 yards from where it was standing. I think the low blood trail thing is a freak accident at times but it also could be from other factors.
In my group there are 4 of us that use powerbelts. We had only one deer 2 years ago that got hit and didn't bleed bu was piled up 50 yards from where she was standing. Besides that one all the rest of the deer either went straight down or left one heck of a blood trail to follow. I have been using them for 5 years now and shoot 2-3 deer a year with them and don't think i will be changing anytime soon i have great results with them.
I have 3 spypoints, 1 IR-A and 2 IR-6. IR-6 is another small cam and i am very happy with the pictures i have been getting with them, only takes 8 AA batteries.
Here is the link to the article that u are talking about. I think this is a great article and really defines a problem that is starting to have an effect on our sport.

BuckFever I agree with you its all about personal choice. Aren't we all out there for the same reasons? Get the heck away from work relax and enjoy the outdoors. I see this as another opportunity / excuse to get out in the woods. Our season in NY is alot shorter than a lot of the country so if this makes it longer then so be it. I just read an article in outdoor life that i think every sportsman or women should read and step back and think why we all started hunting and why we are still out there today.
