  1. Good broadhead through both lungs usually drops a deer within 100 yards. But ur problem is the usually factor, to drop them in there tracks with a bow you would probably have to break the spine which a crossbow is more than capable of doing but i would keep shots under 30 yards because its a small target. Shouldn't be a problem if you have to chase them off the lawn lol.
  2. 1. I can say that i shoot at running, standing, walking and laying deer and in the last 2 years every deer that i have had the opportunity to track is dead. I just shot a running doe yesterday with the muzzleloader came running by at 50 yards drew on her and fired and she went another 50 and dropped. I also killed two running deer last year on the same drive, one running one at 10 ft and another at 50 yards. So i agree my percentage is between 85-95 and less would not be acceptable to me. 2. I agree there are many people who just throw lead, you do have to know how to shoot running deer in saying that i do kill running deer there were also some running deer that i had under 60 yards i did not shoot at because i just didnt have the opportunity for a shot that i felt comfortable with in that 10 sec the deer was in front of me. So i guess my percentage would be very close to 100. The people you see flinging lead at anything would be doing the same in a tree stand. Generalizations are dangerous to us all. 3. As far as what gender, size for muzzleloader i could care less. In regular season doing drives i have always had plenty of time to judge a deer and have let some deer pass and others not but i always knew what i was fireing at with few surprises. If you are using this as an anti drive idea i have killed 10X more standing and walking deer doing drives than i have even seen running.
  3. Using Muzzleloader and dropped one late this afternoon
  4. I was told that same buck was on Colgates campus some im not really sure where he is roaming. Beautiful buck anyway
  5. hahaha havent changed a bit down there in a hundred years
  6. I also have a older model 700 in 222 mag. that you cannot open the bolt with the safety engaged i never really understood why they made it like this
  7. 2 Spypoint IR-6 about same size as trophy cam and also takes 6 AA batteries, bought it in mayand put it out and has taken thousands of pics and batteries are still good.
  8. Any of these calibers would never be a mistake to buy. The best caliber would be the one you can shoot the best and feel comfortable that every shot u take will go where its supposed to. Find some rifles that you can take to the range and try before hand and then buy one.
  9. I agree with bubba on this one why trade the muzzleloader keep it and only having one shot can make u a better shot and is plenty accurate for longer shots.
  10. I have 3 spypoints and mainly have them on food plots, travel corridors and scrapes. Buddy also has a moultrie another nice cam
  11. Savage edge is a good package for under 400
  12. Culver totally agree with u that anything based on either of those cartridges is a great rifle my main gun is a 30-06 and has ended many hunts successfully for me but for the average 15 year old they would be better off with something with a little more mild recoil and Robinson doesnt sound like he has shot that much yet. Always reduce recoil in my opinion
  13. Im with you guys on the 243 only looking to limit your self with that gun at 15 only thing u can shoot is deer or smaller game. U might not think u will ever go after anything else but u never know. As far as a recommendation im going to say the 7-08 would be more than perfect for a 15 year old looking for a versatile rife. Alot of knock down power with little recoil.
  14. Carbon Express Rebel with 100 gr G5 Striker, buck ran 60 yards and dropped dead in front of me this year.
  15. Thanks alot Chris, took it out for a quick ride tonight and is a great machine i have no doubts that it will get plenty of use here. Thanks again
  16. Both very nice bucks, i am yet to see a nice one this year but people in our camp have seen several. Only a matter of time before i get my sights on one
  17. Fletch not sure where you found that you cant leave tree stands in state land over night but i could not find it. DEC says you cannot create a permanent structure, blind or stand or destroy vegetation but does not say anything about leaving removable stand overnight. I was under the impression you could over night just not all year long.
  18. Awesome bear, always good to knock a couple of them off of the food chain a year before they become more of a problem
  19. If there are no regulations on them and they are a non native species then it is open season on them, just as it is on mountain lions in ny. Because the DEC does not recognize them existing here they would be considered invasive and equivalent to feral hogs
  20. skyzmine does this model have the receiver hitch like a truck or just the pin hitch? Pic of that part of wheeler would be helpful if its not receiver
  21. Better than no pics at all haha same story here all pics are at night and are only small bucks a does, not very many pics either for turnips in there prime here
  22. Nice buck, my brother has had good luck rattling in several bucks this year also in 7M but has yet to shoot one haha. I havent had any luck rattling this year but try it off and on. Way to be persistent on a crappy day
