  1. I was always the Low Man pusher. Of course I was 16 and 17, so no big deal. I liked the drives we would do to push down the side of the hill.
  2. Trick for me this weekend seemed to be wearing a light (poly) base layer under my fleece base. Never really got sweaty that way.
  3. Looking forward to testing the warmth out on these super down pro pants. Those bibs Ive had for 18 years now.... No cushion left in the crotch, and they get about 10 pounds heavier when they get wet. If these down pants are as good as advertised, I'll probably double down next summer and get base layer, rain layer, and 2 upper body layers. Edit: They DO pack up into their own left pocket, not too hard either. I'm going to wash em now, and cross my fingers..........
  4. You've ascended from Taxi to Ar-teest!
  5. Funny, this day last year I single lunged a decent 8, tracked for 2 miles, and when he got up from his bed he'd stopped bleeding. Still think with a dog we'd have found that deer. I shouldn't have bumped him.
  6. Nevermind, spike just ambled through at 20, so that's what a deer looks like.
  7. Well that will do it til Monday. Someone shoot the skunk that's been following me around for 5 sits now.
  8. I'll see your squirrel and raise you one owl. I need someone else to pick my stands for me, I'm turrible at it.
  9. Starting to look like Mondays goal will be a donkey Doe. Snowstorm rolling in that evening, wind out of the Northeast, might actually get to sit in my box blind. These deer.... I'm in an anterless run for 3? Years running now? Guh.
  10. Sitting on a pinch point between a field and a pond, which is also an oak flat. Is it just me or are acorns not in style this weekend? Whoever said they are going for greens while they can get em seems to be spot on. Neighbor didn't see anything in the white oaks, and I don't see any foraging going on here in this red oak flat.
  11. None of the cameras anything other than spikes in daylight here. At a loss for some place to sit.
  12. 15 and slight south breeze, crunchy snow. Full hour behind schedule, but at least my thumb is intact!
  13. String/Cable. He was unloading it in the dark and not paying attention.
  14. Nope, nevermind, sounds like they're going to just chop off that part of his thumb! These things we use, they just might be dangerous....
  15. Damn near took the end of his thumb off, fractured his thumb tip, looks pretty ugly. All sorts of sutures etc. I warned him. Luckily, no wait at the ER. As opposed to the 5 hour wait I had when I got my ear stitched up in May. Small favors?
  16. And the old man sliced his thumb open unloading his Xbow. Off we go to memorial! This didn't send before we jumped in the truck. He's getting x-rays right now.
  17. Anyone have the sneaking suspicion that the deer are always at the stand you sat this morning? I think I'm just standicapped.
  18. Dad is in the flying outhouse by the plot, all the deer he's seen today are heading downwind. Still skunked.
  19. Only co thing this morning was a bald eagle about 40 feet overhead crusing around for a few minutes
  20. 3 sets of eyes in the goldenrod on the way in, fresh sign, no goddamned deer. If this wind gets any meaner I'm gonna move to my high wind travel route stand. I'm on the south face in an oak flat I saw them bed in last weekend. Wind is cut by some pines up top, no reason they shouldn't be in here!
