  1. Best of luck! I paraphrase a country song "You'll find out who your friends are, someone's gonna drop everything". Bill is obviously a good friend.
  2. Awesome work man! And be prepared for Pygmy to ask who the babe is. I love working with maple, just a clean, great smelling, can do anything with it wood.
  3. 'Murrica. This afternoon there were 2 baldies feasting on that mangy coyote I shot. The lesson is :. Always shoot coyotes.
  4. Yep. Packs into it's own pocket, here's a video for the jacket but the pants do too.
  5. The down stuff? Nope. Wouldn't wear em walking anyway, would be a fast way to get sweated up quick. Purely for warm while sitting. I like the idea of in warmer temps like 40, being able to wear a light layer in then just throwing these on and being toasty.
  6. It's a little crude, and cold, but it beats 2 trips of 40 minutes.
  7. Agreed. I had some guys do the framing and hang the drywall and the frame for the drop ceiling. Did everything else myself, floor, wiring, lighting, sanding, trim, doors, spackling etc. I remember sanding until 2am from 7am to get it all done.
  8. I'm sure everyone who actually reads this is tired of me singing praises but, review on those pants: They are really good. I don't think they're as warm as say, Sitka incerator bibs. I don't think you're going to find a warmer pant for the weight though. I was pretty cold Saturday, was starting to shiver when after 4 hours in 15 degrees with a steady north wind. That still feels like one of the coldest days I've ever sat. Part of it was my feet. So if you're looking for something absolutely as warm as possible, bibs are obviously the way to go. If you're looking for something real warm and weighs 8 ounces, that you can pack a mile uphill, I highly recommend. Hopefully late season I get a chance to test the down jacket + pants combo. I know for cold they recommend the rain/ wind stopper on top of that, which I'll get next year.
  9. Same reasoning, but I'm still learning bow. It's also why I built that nice blind, so my dad has a better chance, and I don't have to worry as much about him stumbling around in the woods.
  10. Dude. Lawyers aren't allowed to do their own blue collar work. Way to stick it to the working man. Just like IT guys aren't supposed to either. I'm pretty sure I broke several laws when I did 80% of the work furnishing my basement.
  11. Yeah I shoot 308 150 grains. Haven't seen a doe go more than 20 yards yet, but the bucks are tanks.
  12. I should try that on bucks. Mine tend to run a couple hundred yards. Too much of a chicken to put the X right on the boiler room, usually aim a bit high.
  13. Watched her cross the field below, she came right into the plot, made it all of 20 yards.
  14. Went back the last day of the sale and ordered 2 more things. Good thing my wife and I keep our finances separate or I'd probably be getting my ass beat!
  15. I have to say I'm impressed with the Sierra 145 Merino wool. I took a long hike and got pretty sweated up, it dried out real quick. I don't think it's as warm as a poly + fleece double layer combo, but it's pretty solid down to freezing.
  16. Just took a real nasty hike. Lot of sign, massive rub lines, watched a lone doe at 100 for 10, waited 20 after she left just in case. No way I'm popping a doe way out there with this gimpy knee. Time to sit in the flying outhouse for a couple hours
  17. Think I'll poke around the neighbors I have permission to hunt. He tells me the "nature conservancy” next door is throwing out corn for the deer. And bears. *Sigh"
  18. We got a few fresh inches, I'll get the kid on the bus and go out for sit with the old man. He found yesterday his thumb is healing well, so looks like he will keep the tip. Kind of a shame, I had so many jokes lined up ......
  19. Get in earlier. I bumped a doe on my way into my stand opening day at quarter of 5, within 30 she was hanging out right back where she was. Also try using a stick to tap the leaves between steps to give your footsteps a quicker cadence?
