  1. Just had a good looking 2.5 8 point roll past at 40 yards Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. 27 here Tracks all over from past 2 days. With the snow I can see 2 miles lol With the moon and snow I predict opening morning shots prior to 5:45 am! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. You could see the blood trail in the woods from the car?
  4. It looks like your shooting out of a blind so my only tips would be your position and rest. I imagine some kind of shooting sticks. So just make sure you position your seat and all so that is a comfortable shot prior to actually getting the shot. You got it!!
  5. A deer with at least 3 legs, less than that wouldn't be fair.
  6. I'm still not sure what my plan is lol. I got a 17 yo son who hates the cold. The temp is looking to be in the mid teens. Option 1 is hitting the island, state land, with bro, bro in law and his son. Cons have to get up at 3 3:30 to get up, drive an hour, hike 30 minutes, carry a bunch of gear so not get sweaty and freeze to get in before someone else and son might bail. Pros 90 % chance of seeing deer and hunting with the gang. Option 2 hunting behind the house. Pro get up at 4:30-5 am put him in heated tower, i'd got in a ladder other end of prop. Cons 60% chance seeing deer and I hunt these deer anytime. Probably decide Friday night smh
  7. Great story and Congratz on the great hunt! You do what a lot of us wish we had the dedication and skills to do but don’t. My legs hurt just reading this lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. 11/12 pm 23 Cold windy and deerless. Sat for 1.5 hours over the state swamp. No tracks anywhere, not in woods not on drive, not in the lawn. Deer have been hunkered for a day and a half now. The morning may be good. I’m losing interest in freezing hunts for does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Sorry to hear man. I was hoping you’d find it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Wowsa that’s a “slammer” Congrats to your bud! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Yea no way I'd be leaving the heart or the tenderloins. That is just wasteful!!
  12. Yikes, Saturday am supposed to be 11 frickin degrees out.........
  13. Good luck man.Bring or cut a good 5-6 foot walking/poking stick. It will help you poke mounds, logs, etc. and not have to kick or reach down for each. Like someone above said a dead deer will still be a mound in the snow, hopefully.
  14. I would not give up on it without a serious grid search out many hundred yards more, deer trail search. It is a killing hit and the deer is dead. If Deer search not back to you by noon I would be looking noon to dark. With that snow it ain't gonna be fun but I wouldn't be able to sleep unless I know i covered every inch and had no other options.
  15. Thanks Biz! I hope I am spending as much time in the woods when I’m older! I hope he gets another crack or even better at that same buck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Sorry I let you down man! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Biz, So your dad is a real badass with all these dark to dark sits! Does he stay on the same stand all day? What does he pack in for eats. Is he an old school wool guy or is he high tech in the Sitka or modern gear? Whats his all day boot of choice? I give him kudos for his persistence.
  18. 10/11 pm 32 Out in the far stand out back. Was snowing good when I set out but unfortunately petered out. Saw a red fox. The boys were in the tower and saw the same fox. No deerz.
  19. Up a tree in the snow storm. Boys in the tower I got feeling we gonna see some deers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. i probably won't even know where I plan on hunting opening day until Friday lol. If I'm home in shotgun the Ithaca Deerslayer 20 gauge. If I am in a rifle zone probably the Marlin 30-30.

  22. 11/10 pm 41 Down in the inner Hole for the first time in about 10 days or so. Sta 2 hours and nada. My brother was up on the ridge above and had a nice buck come in 10 minutes after he sat down. The buck would not come in range to any calls until he snort wheezed him. The buck turned and came right in. He took the shot at 18 yards and the deer froze, walked slowly 70 yards and fell over. After a minute he got up went 8-10 feet and fell over again. He did this 6 or so times until he went out of site then he heard more crashing. He visibly by binos watch blood come out the deers mouth so we figured that in when we decided to go back after 2 hours to track. The area has a lot of yotes and rain was moving in. I also put out for input here on the forum which we were thankful for the extra ears and thoughts while we waited. The track was not easy but we eventually rolled up on a very dead and stiff 9 point. 17" inside spread.
  23. 11/10 am 24 Out back in the tower with my daughter for a few hours. We only saw one lone doe to far out. I had he boyfriend up in a ladders stand and he saw two does no shots.
