  2. Google New York state pistol permit renewal. Comes right up
  3. Yea the right wing nuts are just as triggered as the left wing nuts ...and I am shaking my head saying wtf?
  4. Probably has bodily injury that caused it
  5. Great story buddy, congrats and thanks for sharing it. I have like 16 or years in for maine moose, no hope I ever draw. Thanks for letting me follow along
  6. 25% to 50% is widely excepted ad the common mortality in wild populations.
  7. No, the lack of the water rather then the type of water, do to drought and abnormally dry conditions is the common denominator.
  8. I dont think it's more likely. I do however think that an outbreak exposes a location that is conducive to spawning the midges in the right conditions, so if it happens on the area it can happen again given the similar conditions
  9. I really do know. In all honesty its disputed that it effects older deer specifically older bucks at higher rate. My guess is that we have become better at cataloging and keeping track of bucks with trail cams. So on heavily managed farms they have pretty good idea of what the older crop of bucks consist of, and when they turn up dead or missing ....its way more noticable then does or young bucks that are off the radar. That said some very good deer managers are convinced that older bucks are more susceptible to it. One theory is that large velvet antlers are easy places for midges to get blood meal....I dont know.
  10. The most important thing after EHD is hunter responsibility. We learned that the hard way. All young bucks have to get a pass because it seems that EHD hits the older age class of bucks especially hard. Its Nothing to lose almost all your 4 and 5 year old bucks. The number of cases that game agency's will report is always a joke. For example the county of the farm I hunted last year had less then 50 confirmations. We had more EHD deaths on the farm and the neighbors farm then that, yet because they were "confirmed" they didnt count. So the county numbers were ridiculous. Doe harvest needs to get cut back the first couple years after EHD, even if your population is decent. You Need to be careful that its doesn't hit a couple years in row. You think its past and over....shoot some does then get hit again next summer and prolong the issue I have no hope that any help comes from the DEC, and I doubt you will see any NY hunters showing restraint. The saving grace is that the deer opulation is pretty high, and that its fairly late in the year. I hope it passes quick for all the hunters in those areas.
  11. Meateater is in on it. Bet they have plans to film shows in NY and trying to hog all the deer https://www.themeateater.com/hunt/whitetail-deer/2020-ehd-report
  12. Nope, its not real. guys spreading are spreading story around to keep other hunters away from their areas. Just read though the tread, guys like crappie and the jerkman know. I am being facetious BTW
  13. I won't believe that story unless its printed and the pictures of the dead deer are taken with dated newspaper in them, from a kia, near the taconic parkway..... And it still doesn't matter, because the DEC says dead deer doesn't hurt the deer population...
  14. Why the hell would people on here turn something as simple as EHD into some conspiracy theory nonsense? The ignorance on display is staggering. Take an hour, do a Google search on EHD. It's not a mystery, it happens every year in different locations. Its effects are well documented.
  15. Reading the description that OnX used to define inaccessible public lands it's pretty straight forward. If there is legal ground access, via road, foot or trail it's not on the list. They even counted private conservation easements that will allow you to access land locked. So land listed as no access, for the most part has no access unless an individual has private access that allowed them to gain access to said public land. Access to all our public lands should be high on the to do list of all the agency's that manage our lands.
  16. Only in NY hunters are stupid enough to think EHD has no effect on their deer population.
