Here: 2012 Adirondack buck, 5 years old 2013 Ohio buck, 5 years old 2014 Adirondack buck, at least 4, possibly 5 years old. These are the oldest, but not the biggest I've killed.

It was the first year of open hunting season after many years of no hunting.

2- 5 year olds that were cementum annuli tested and one from last year that is either 4 or 5, but I haven't sent in yet.

Are those cell cam pics? That's painful for your buddy to know he could've been there...

I'm not sure if I'm following the labels properly, but pic 1 is buck A, 2,3, and 4 are buck B, and 5 and 6 are buck C, correct? If so, buck A is 5+ B is 3 C is 4 or 5

Daylight buck is at least a 9, maybe a 10. Could be the buck on the right in the 2nd pic.

Maybe it's a new deer STD? Older bucks surely have more sexual partners than does of the same age... (I am not really being serious here.)

2-3 times mowing. You really only need to clip the top 2-3 inches off, but you can mow it almost to the dirt and it will still come back strong. Just don't do that now. If it gets frosted now without much new growth it will die.

191# Adirondack buck shot in 2004, my first big woods buck. Most of the bucks I've shot have been in the 175-185# range.

Darn- I was hoping to see one of the classic roadkill pics that resurface every year.

I've pretty much moved away from messing around with scents- just one more distraction. I know they can work at times, but for scents to work the wind direction is likely also going to blow your scent to the deer as well. I'd rather have them smell nothing at all.

I quit wearing a mask in a tree a few years back. I do use Carbomask (face paint) when on the ground.

Yeah, I don't know why those pics don't show up. I now saved them as a jpeg, looks like maybe it will work now. I can't find much/any info about this particular burdock characteristic. There is a 1995 paper about contact dermatitis from burdock, but I can't open it without a subscription, which I don't want to buy. The one in my eye is over in the corner, not touching my actual eyeball. It may have worked its way out overnight as I don't seem to feel it today.

Grow- these are not the seed heads with the hooked ends, these little hairs are darn near microscopic and are shaped like Inuit fishing spear heads more or less.

SO, burdock is annoying at best and although they cultivate it for consumption in Japan, I personally have no use for it. The seed heads are the obvious reason, but yesterday I found an even worse surprise that burdock has- BARBED HAIRS! I was mowing a foodplot yesterday and came upon a patch of tall, dead burdock. When I hit it with my ATV, a cloud of dusty "hairs" came off the burdock and covered me. I didn't think much about it at first, but by the time I got home I was itching like crazy. I now have a rash that looks like I rubbed poison ivy all over my arms and neck. I collected some of the "hairs" with some tape and put them under the microscope today... They are about 1/8" long and slightly thicker than a human hair. The one in my eye is especially annoying. Burdock Hairs.bmp Burdock Hairs 2.bmp

I've done it twice- hurts like a mother flower! I had a corneal abrasion. Doctor prescribed gentamycin sulfate. Took a couple of days to heal. Might be worth getting it looked at.

Like others have said,it typically doesn't look like much the first year unless you plant it in April/May. It looks like you got good germination. Next year it really take off, just remember to clip it 3+ times a year starting in June before the weeds go to seed.

The g4 on the left side isn't really a deduction- it just doesn't get counted in the net score. It won't take anything away from the length on the other tines the way a nontypical point would. Beautiful frame on this buck, but I agree, mass is not his strong point.

That's a 180"+ deer.

Are we talking LN @ -321 degrees F? Or nitrogen fertilizer. Pelleted urea will burn plants too, but they'll grow out of it.
