  1. There's nothing like the first one.. Congrats.
  2. This year the full moon is supposed to be on the 12th, right? A few days after that it will get rocking.. I hope because that is when I have time off.
  3. I shot a nice buck in 2007 that had a weird hole through his loin between the shoulder blades and scabs on either side of his body. When I scraped the scar tissue off of the cartilage part of the shoulder blade, there was a perfect 3-bladed broadhead hole. The arrow went through the top of the shoulder blade, above the spine, and out the other side. When I shot him on November 9th he was chasing does around and moving fine.

What do you mean, no 7H? Its on the map from the DEC website. http://www.eregulations.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Untitled-Extract-Pages3.pdf
  5. Oh man! Nice one! In NY? Do you have a side pic? It looks like he has a wall of tines on the right side.
  6. Perfect! So, does anyone want to debate the mystical "no man's land" (DOES NOT EXIST!) ?
  7. Thats a nasty looking dead deer. To visualize a treestand shot placement- think about your entry and exit holes. A Shot just under the spine on the entry is going to come out significantly lower for the exit, depending on of course the angle of entry. I thought I remembered seeing a TV personility using some computer program that showed shot placement and angle, but don't remember who or what it was called.
  8. I go to 30ft sometimes, but I use a Tree Saddle, kind of like a lineman's belt. I am never not attached to the tree, although it does make me pucker up a little sometimes.
  9. Ditto- There's no such thing as "no man's land". If you are below the spine you are in the lungs if you are in the thoracic cavity. A much more likely scenario is through the loin, but the arrow should pass through. I think this particular deer is dead and it was a high lung hit unless it was high forward and the arrow went through the loin and into the opposite shoulder blade. I had that happen once.
  10. He can't be bedding too far away if he's coming through slightly more than an hour before daybreak.

I live here. It is shotgun/ ML only
  12. Don't sweat it Phade. I shot my biggest buck under the same conditions only it was a grape harvest.
  13. Just saw a nice 4 yr old 10 with a doe in a soybean field near my house at noon! Wasn't expecting any to be coming in heat yet, but I'm sure that one is.
  14. Happy Birthday. I am envious that you can legally kill a deer on your birthday! Good luck.
  15. Here's a 3yr old that is a little too active in the daytime. I've let him walk by twice in 4 sits on this property. Hope he lives another year.
  16. Wowsers- that is a really good buck!
  17. Nice work! Are you sure 125 is all?
  18. Had 16 does and fawns plus 2 small bucks come by at less than 20 yards. They were like ants coming out of an anthill. Insane!
  19. Here is what I saw at 9am when I got down. This young 8 was crossing 50 yards away while I was winding up my bow rope. Sorry for the quality- it was my cell phone. Had him as close as 20 yds.
  20. Hey- if he needs help- I live only 15 minutes north.
  21. Nice. Done that. You speak the gross truth
  22. Have the Ink's buck and doe inflatable dekes out front. Have a headache from blowing them up, but the morning is perfect. Hopes are high.
  23. Maybe I didn't mention that girlfriend is from Iowa and her dad owns 800 acres.. The farmer who rents the fields is the friend that lets me hunt his land. He doesn't hunt. He may not know the situation. The husband of the woman called me back last night, but by the time I received the message, it was too late to call him back. I want to feel this one out. More than once I've had the husband give me permission so long as the wife didn't find out. I'll keep you posted.
