Try not looking under every Ash, Poplar, Elm, Etc.[emoji16] I hear the morels are starting to pop, though they are likely still pretty small Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Good luck folks. Be safe. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Ive heard reports of a few early morels in Cattaraugus county, Buffalo, Poughkeepsie, and the Hudson valley. I checked a few of my spots late last week before the cold snap with no luck. I had 1/2" of snow on my lawn Sat and Sunday morning so it seems like we'll need a good week of temps in the 60's with lows above 40 to get the soil temp back up. Should be seeing some pop within 2 weeks. This just means that we can focus on turkeys for the first week or so! Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Sometimes. Lol One of my spots is within 100yds from the rd. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

And strangely enough they're often found along roadsides[emoji23] Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

That was 1 days haul and unfortunately for me, work kept me out of the woods for the remainder of the morel season[emoji22] Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Here's a teaser pic from my morel haul last year. Looking to repeat this year! Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

No morels yet, but a quick search last night brought my first fresh mushroom find of the year. Some young Pheasant Backs. I will harvest soon as they are best when they are young and tender. If left to mature they will often turn as tough as leather. They have quite an interesting taste that closely resembles cucumber. I like to slice into 3/16" strips then give them a short boil before throwing them into some pickle juice. These mushrooms can often be found in abundance, but I don't normally harvest a whole lot since they are merely an occasional snack for me. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

With Mushroom season a week or so away I figured I'd kick off a new thread. I'm more than ready to start wading through the ticks and skeeters to hunt for some delicious mushrooms(and turkeys). I want to encourage you all to get out there and explore. Even if you're uneasy about consuming wild eats, I'd love to see some pics. Have fun. Be safe and as always, when in doubt throw it out!!! I know someone who might be interested. Where are you located? Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

The Delaware is an awesome fishery! I've pulled some spectacular trout from the west branch. I hooked a 12+ lb trout about a mile below the weir hole in Deposit about 10 years ago. I still remember the heartbreak after it spit my hook. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

I will always post this pic. One is delicious and one is deadly. That's one pf the reasons I prefer harvesting ramps when they're mature(just like my turkeys[emoji16]). The other reason is because the greens are so yummy! Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

Haha. Thank ya sir. Been pretty busy with the new house/land. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

I usually begin looking for morels in early-mid May depending on weather. We're looking for that magical soil temperature of 52°. I like to stay at lower elevations on a southern exposure early on. As season progresses I'll move up in elevation. If you can't identify a dead/dying elm or ash tree you have a month to figure it out! Also, if youre not crawling through the brush and brambles look elsewhere. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

No ramps/leeks here as of a week ago. I'll be checking my spot next weekend. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk

To the trapper who's red fox I just shot thinking it was responding to my call, well-done and your catch will be waiting there for you stiff in the morning. Consider yourself lucky that I brought two rifles tonight and decided to use the .22mag on that particular stand. The . 243 isn't so fur friendly on fox! [emoji16] I almost forgot how much I love hearing the .22mag whack a fox! Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk- 10374 replies

Sloppy imo, but I plow residential & commercial properties. I guess if they're cheap and on time who can complain for a hunting camp Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
