  1. For the hens blow out any hitchhikers. Don't rinse with water unless absolutely necessary. If you do rinsemake sure you let them dry off before placing in brown bag. Toss em' in the fridge. Should be fine for approximately 5-7 days. Same with the chickens except they may not keep for as long Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  2. Heck yes!!!!!! Nice score. You won't be disappointed Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  3. You're a marine biologist right? Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  4. The pic reminds me of Flammulina Velutipes which are the wild version of Enoki mushroom that are sometimes found in the grocery store. I can't be sure from the photo though Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  5. These may be honey fungus, but I'm unsure Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  6. Coyotes can have a huge home range of 30 sq. miles or more. They are always on the move since they are very territorial. Since fox have a much smaller home range, they are very familiar with their surroundings and can usually dupe the yotes. Of course a coyote would overtake a fox, but fox are quick and a yote would have better odds and expend less energy by pursuing other prey animals. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  7. I just cut them into smaller pieces and freeze them fresh. Yes vacuum sealing is best. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  8. Those look like oysters but it's hard to tell how big they are without a size reference. If they're 3-5" inches across then they're oysters that have possibly & unfortunately begun to turn bad. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  9. Yeah the only way I care for them is sauteed in butter until they cook down and get a little crispy. I've tried marinating & grilling but it was gross[emoji23] Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  10. It was nothing but poaching. The guy said it was 200yds off the rd. That's adequate distance. The only ethics that should even come into question here are those of the poacher. Doesn't matter if it's just a coyote. In my eyes once a poacher, always a poacher. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  11. I'll be working opening day, however opening night is when I come out to play! I should be toting a 60lb yote or 2 back to the Jeep by 10pm[emoji16] Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  12. Looks like either a Purple-spored puffball or a skull-shaped puffball. Both edible. In my opinion puffballs can be yummy if slices are fried in plenty of butter to where both sides get a crispy crust. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  13. Link won't work Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  14. I've had trap & animals stolen. It's very frustrating and troubling since just like with trailcam theft, it's probably another hunter doing the stealing. If anyone thinks it's easy to make an animal step on a 2" trap pan I invite you to try. I've been predator trapping since age 12 and still love it. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  15. And the trapper probably didn't find it until the next morning so it most likely has green belly and the hide is useless. Lets not forget that alot of youth are getting into trapping too, so who knows that might be the first coyote some 12 year old kid ever caught. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  16. Not his land so he should have minded his own business. Whine about discretion all you want, but if you aren't paying the taxes then you can kick rocks. Have we really become so soft? Well here's one for ya. You can still take your family dog out back, kill it, and serve it to your family for dinner in 43 states Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  17. Usually just a simple saute'. When the margins get crispy, the flavor is reminiscent of potato chips. It's funny I never used to like hens, but now they're one of my top 5 favorites. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  18. Went out last night for some midnight mushroom hunting. Lobsters stand out well at night with a flashlight. Did manage some lobsters, but the highlight was definitely this perfect hen. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  19. Maitake(hen-of-the-woods). I just found one myself. They are delicious. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  20. First year bowhunting when I was 14 I killed a BB at 5yds with a High Country Sniper. Back in 2012 I took a doe @ 53yds with a 1970's Jennings. I could shoot the nuts off a housefly with that thing, release or fingers. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  21. Not trying to hijack the thread or accuse you of wrongdoing. Just trying to understand the "gray areas" of the nys regs. I see under nuisance/damaging animals it states that a DEC permit is required for coons. Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  22. Did you have to obtain a DEC permit? Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  23. Seeing how these are Jack-o-lanterns(TOXIC) which are Saprobic, I would venture a guess that there used to be a large oak tree in that spot. You could try to go out at night and see if they are glowing green Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  24. Omphalotus illudens(Jack-o-Lantern) TOXIC!!!! Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
  25. Yummy Sent from my LGMP260 using Tapatalk
