  1. AGREED, THE TILLER IS AWESOME! I JUST USE ROUDUP, A WEEK EARLIER, TO KILL THE ROOTS BEFORE I TILL. PLUS I DONT BELIEVE MY 28HP HYDRO DIESEL WOULD PULL A PLOW.. MAYBE.. CURIOUS TO KNOW
  2. GREAT MIX! LIKE G MAN SAID, CLOVER WON BE MUCH UNTIL SPRING, BUT BRASSICAS AND OATS ARE KEY! I WILL SAY IN MY WOODS IN STEUBEN, DEER DONT CARE FOR RADISHES. I PLANTED 2 ACRES OF GROUND HOG RADISH LAST YEAR AND THEY DIDNT EVEN TOUCH THEM! GREW TO ABOUT 2 FT TALL AND ABOUT 18" TAP ROOT/RADISH AND THEY NEVER EVEN NIBBLED ON THEM HARDLY.. THEY HIT THEM FOR ABOUT A COUPLE WEEKS IN MARCH AND THAT WAS IT, BESIDES BEING GOOD FOR THE SOIL NUTRIENT WISE, I WAS A LITTLE LET DOWN, I WONT PLANT THEM FOR DEER AGAIN, UNLESS PLANTING A BRAND NEW UN BROKEN GROUND..
  3. let em grow here, in Steuben county.. just a good ol boy 28 yrs young, hunting since i was 12, loving the outdoors hearing stories and successes from everyone. besides hunting i enjoy being on the tractor working ground putting groceries in the ground. i practice qdm, its great the things you see when just watching the creatures and selectively harvesting whitetails instead of shooting them all.. my favorite seasons are bow season with my mathews z7 and chasing longbeards in the spring! lets chat!
  4. Sorry, I use caps lock at work and forget to change it. my apology. Its tough to get good results with qdm the first few years but if you can hold off atleast 3 years practicing qdm, you'll enjoy the rewards I promise. Its tough to keep everyone on the same page with it, especially with so many people. We started with only having bucks outside their ears and 8 points plus, but thats not the best way either. its really hard to get and keep everyone on the same page. so now we just go with the motto, " if you shoot it you mount it" typically people wont mount 1.5 or 2.5 year old bucks year after year so it helps some. But again we only get around 50% cooperation. We still noticed a good increase in buck age structure body weights, you name it.
  5. MY PROPERTY IS 5 MINUTES FROM CHARLIES, AND ALTHOUGH I HAVENT BEEN TO HIS SINCE I WAS A KID. MY NEIGHBOR IS IN CONTACT WITH CHARLIE ALL YEAR LONG. AND THE STORIES I HEAR FROM HIM AND HIS DEER AND THE TRICKS HE DOES TO GET DEER TO DO CERTAIN THINGS IS AWESOME! LETS US KNOW WHAT PHASE OF THE RUT WE ARE IN. GREAT GUY.
  6. WITH THAT KIND OF PROPERTY AND ALL OF YOU BEING ON THE SAME PAGE WITH QDM PRACTICES, FOOD PLOTS AND SUCH AND NOT MUCH AG FIELDS. YOU'LL BE REWARDED BIG TIME, IT WILL JUST TAKE ABOUT 3 YEARS TIL YOU REALLY SEE IT.. WE HAVE BEEN DOING IT WITH ABOUT 50% OF OUR NEIGHBORS FOLLOWING QDM FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS NOW AND THERE ARE A TON OF DEER 2-1/2 AND OLDER. USUALLY GET PICS OF ATLEAST 3 DIFFERENT BUCKS OVER 140" EVERY YEAR. COVERING MAYBE ONLY 1000 ACRES TOTAL.. ITS AWESOME!
  7. YOUR CLOVER WILL LOOK AWESOME IN SPRING WHEN PLANTED IN FALL. I HAVE BEST SUCCESS WITH CLOVER PLANTINGS IN FALL, IT WILL BE SHORT IN HEIGHT PROBABLY UNTIL SPRING BUT IT SHOULD LOOK GOOD THEN. MINE USUALLY DOES IN SOUTHERNTIER NY.
  8. AWESOME! I ENJOY SEING THESE PICS. ILL HAVE TO START TAKING A FEW MORE AND POST OUR PROGRESS WITH PLOTS AND SUCH.
  9. HELLO YALL! I AS WELL SIGNED UP TODAY. THIS SITE SEEMS PRETTY AWESOME! IVE BEEN HUNTING IT ALL FOR 16 YEARS, MUZZLELOADER, SHOTGUN, RIFLE, BUT LOVE MY BOWHUNTING! WE'VE BEEN PRACTICING QDM IN STEUBEN AND WAYNE COUNTY FOR 5 YEARS NOW AND LOVE IT! LOOK FORAWRD TO SHARING STORIES/ INFO
  10. CAN I ASK WHY SOMEONE HAS TO BE A LONG TIME MEMBER HERE? THIS WOULD BE A GREAT OPPURTUNITY FOR MYSELF. I AS WELL, WOULD HATE TO SEE THE LANDOWNER NOT HAPPY EITHER, BC THATS NOT WHO I AM. IM JUST CURIOUS AND VERY INTERESTED IN THIS LEASE, AND DEVOTED TO HIS(OR HER) AND THERE PROPERTY. THANKS.
  11. PLANTED ANTLER KING HONEY HOLE 3 WEEKS AGO AND ARE ALREADY 6 INCHES TALL SOME TALLER. I USUALLY PLANT WTI WINTER GREENS AND TURNIPS WITH GREAT RESULTS BUT WANTED TO TRY THIS OUT. THE SOYBEANS I PLANTED WERE HAMMERED ON BY DEER AND WOODCHUCKS, SHORT FROM HEAVY HEAVY BROWSE, SO THERE GETTING LIGHTLY DISCED IN AND SEEDED WITH WTI TURNIPS THIS WEEK. CANT GO WRONG. AND WHITETAIL OATS WILL BE GOING IN EARLY SEPTEMBER!
