Savage 25-06 with a Bushnell 3x-9x. Too much rain/snow predicted so I'll sit in my elevated. Lind with the Lil Buddy heater going...such a wimp.

I think I may have met the dumbest deer ever tonite! The sad part was, she got the better of me... Doe comes walking along following my scent drag. Steps into the open lane at 22 yards. I shoot, hit a tiny branch and the arrow buries in the ground between her legs. She jumps back and then walks back to sniff the arrow. Walks on the path till I have a 15 yard shot that, again, hits a branch that jumped up and threw itself into the path of my arrow! At this point she stops and stares at me. I stand up and tell the deer that I'm not wasting my last arrow on her and she better leave before I change my mind. This ultra-wary (hah!) beast then walks past me and out to the winter wheat, quietly feedin 25 yards from me. Just to add a little more insult to my day, a nice 8 point cruises by ten yards further out in the field, sniffing the doe but never stopping or offering me a shot. The final insult comes when I decide to leave. This brain dead deer wanders back into the woods twenty yards from me while I climb down, retrieve my bow, notch an arrow and then say " oh hell, no" and walk away. I'm sure that deer was having a good laugh as I walk off with my vestigial tail tightly tucked between my legs. Hate to admit it but, all true.

19 degrees in 8H this morning. Bucks moving but not chasing doe that I've seen. Had this young 3 point at 15 yards a few minutes ago. Two doe passed on by right after.

Things have been on fire the past few days but today....nothing moving my way.

Sitting from noon till dark. Needed to stand and stretch a few minutes ago. Looked around carefully before standing, stood for about five minutes and checked around again before sitting back down but didn't look straight down! A three point ghosted in right below me. Looked up as I sat down and his eyes got huge! Guess I educated that one...

Fun day of deer watching. I saw 17 deer and got busted by a doe on the one shot I tried to take. Oh well. Time for beer and World Series.

Way too warm but I'm in my stand. Frustrating day so far. Has a doe and button buck right under me. The button circled my tree twice while mama never gave me a good shot. Ah well! Couple of hours to go.

One small doe in the field so far. Now I have to hope they wander a hundred yards closer!

New deck finished and my wife watches as a big storm rolls in. Nearly a twenty degree drop in twenty minutes and real windy. Peak Organic Autumn IPA. Real nice.

Nothing moving in this heat. Time for a beer and Yankees game.

Great day! Now season began. Played a good round of golf. Had some good beer. Bills had a big win!

Done working on the deck for today. Time for some r&b. Relaxation and beer. Some day I'll figure out how to get these pics right. Just don't have the energy now for it.

Enjoying a Flying Fish IPA (NJ) on the deck with my girlfriend (as my wife refers to her). The deck is going to be torn out and replaced starting tomorrow. Last beer on this one. Twenty years has been a good run for it but time to replace it with Axel. No more scraping, sanding and staining. Under a flash flood warning right now but seems to be passing just south of us.

I like the way you think. That so frustrating with today's craft beer being such a hit . Couple weeks back we went to the Rib Fest, lines way to,long for me to get ribs, so walked into beer area to,get a couple for the Mrs and myself . Coors light , Miller Lite, some beer/lemonade thing, Moleson ( which was out ....) and Blue Moon . I just stood there In shock , I asked if this was it ? Is there another area with beer? Gal said oh you want Blue Light ? I know a guy who has his own wine stored at a restaurant he goes to so he can always get a good bottle when he goes there and often brings his own to,others , he pays a corking fee . Perhaps we should bring our own beer .....

After a close friends wedding at a fancy country club ( Cobblestone Creek in Victor) last night where the only beer served was Blue and Blue Light I'm really appreciating the Southern Tier DIPA. On the deck, listening to the turkey who hardly made a sound the last month. How the hell come won't these pictures come out right?!
