  1. You could also get a small utility trailer for the ATV. Some good ones for about $200. But again, snow or ice and the trailer can swing and take you for a ride you aren't going to like.
  2. Only the cheap ones from Sportsman Guide. A solid real Katana ( folded a few hundred times ) isn't going to chip when it hit bone. Never runs out of ammo and can be sharpened with a rock. I am not a fan of the new spin off. If I remember correctly the original concept was to have another group of people dealing with the misery in a same time frame. Not a before and during crap fest. I kind of have a love hate issue with the split season. It's frustrating, but at the same time the second part of the season starts after football so at least there is something worth watching on Sunday night. I also just set up the DVR to record The Talking Dead. Never bothered with it before but it's a pretty good show in itself. Even though they never give spoilers. LOL
  3. Congrats on the land Biz. As for the ATV I would put the deer on the back rack and tie it down going down hill. Little snow or ice and the deer might get to the bottom before the ATV.
  4. Really? Really? Well, you got me. I guess we don't have to match total arrow weight to the weight we are pulling. Tell that to the new bow hunters who think you can effectively shoot an arrow designed for 30 lbs with a 70 lb bow. let me know how that works out.
  5. I actually don't care. If you can kill deer size or + game at 80yds+ that's great. Still haven't heard anyone say what the set up is. Pounds pulling, arrow weight, shaft weight, broadhead weight, spine, but, I get that, why tell secrets. But if you can drop a wt deer at 100 yds with a bow I would just like to see it. I am sure others would like to see it too. Seeing most people replying to this thread have said, again, 30 yards is max, it seems more like people telling bow hunters who take the safe, clean kill, and making sure they kill what they shoot at are wrong. How much kinetic energy will an arrow keep at 100 yds? Hey, I am all ears, show me some stats.
  6. "Guided gun seasons". This is in the bow hunting boards. Sorry you had someone be that rude. Might come with the territory being a 'guide'. Names of the places for references? Hey ya never know, I might hit the lottery and plan a hunt. If you can kill a deer every time at those long ranges, great for you. How about some vids on You Tube of you personally doing that. Not vids of other people making the claim to fame. YOU making a kill with a bow at 40+ yards? 80 or 100 would would be better. What does west vs. east have to do with it?
  7. You are amazing grow! With all your ailments you get more **** done then the J/O sitting on their ass. I hope you get a big buck or a big doe to fill the freezer.
  8. If you have all the answers, then why are you asking? I guess You Tube and Google have answered your questions.
  9. The only term I know for "Pack-Out" is gutted, skinned, boned ( some times ), and quartered. Never heard of 'gutless' before.
  10. Why do you have two threads about the same thing?
  11. I was pissed at the earlier segment. Russia trying to help us. That was sort of funny as it was evading questions. Now, Trump is on there showing just how stupid he is.
  12. Anyone watching 60 Minutes right now? This is some real BS!
  13. Sighted the rifle and patterned the shotgun about a month ago. Just after buying them. Went up this morning and checked both, still right on par. My gun season starts on 10/24 so before that I will triple check the rifle. If I was bow hunting this year I would have been shooting as much as possible to keep things dialed in for at least the past two months.
  14. Thats a good point. I really could not care less how far you shoot. As long as you are making clean kills. For me, launching an arrow the length of a football field, goal line to goal line isn't practical, and I just can't see the 'average' bow hunter making a clean kill every time, and I am not into the guessing game. As for the wind not playing a part............. All I did was laugh. Even with a gun you have to account for wind and elevation. Enjoy dropping deer at 80 + yards with a bow. Just to be on the safe side keep this link handy: http://deersearch.org
  15. No one was mocking you. You mocked yourself, so I made this thread. It seems the over all average is still about 30 for clean ethical kills every time. If you are capable of cleanly making a kill with a bow at 80 to 100 yards on a regular basis, then you need to have your own TV show. Not a You Tube channel, an actual TV show on one of the outdoor networks. You deserve it. That's not sarcasm, it's being honest. How do you judge the wind at those extreme distances? A 5 MPH wind can toss an arrow all over the place.
  16. First deer hunt should be a tent camp hunt for opening weekend gun NZ. If the camp thing doesn't work out I guess I will be sleeping on the couch of my buddies studio and heading out at appx 5:15.
  17. No worries. Didn't put my long johns in a bunch. Just trying to keep this thread on topic. I made a new thread for effective range with a bow. Now that one some might need pop-corn and a beer for.
  18. Seeing some are like me and feel at max, ( appx ) 30 yards, and some think you can let an arrow fly and make a clean kill at 100 yds, I am curious what people really have to say. By "Effective Range" I mean to be able to make a clean ethical kill on a game animal every time.
  19. Seeing this thread has gone sideways. Instead of arguing about it in this thread, lets make a new thread about how far are you capable of killing wild game with a bow. That way this thread doesn't get carried to far from what I was trying to say in the beginning. Which was good luck to all the NZ bow hunters going out this Sunday.
  20. Two new guns, a rifle and a shotgun. Rifle is shooting great, shotgun is patterned. Added some cover to man made ground blinds I build last season, made a few new ones. Foot scouting and the land owners text me with what they are seeing. I don't have trail cams. Camp? If it happens it will be one weekend, opening weekend NZ regular season. Tent camping. Buddy who doesn't hunt keeps whining about it being to cold. If it happens, Friday night my home made chili ( pre-made and reheated ). Saturday breakfast for me will be a couple of low fat fruit bars and some orange juice, lunch will be a ham or roast beef sandwich with swiss on wheat bread, dinner will be my home made beef stew ( again, pre-made and reheated ). Sunday morning for me will be the same as Sat. . Pack up and head home. All dependent on if I kill a deer. Then at some point a trip to the processor, and dinner of deer heart and back straps.
  21. Nice cabin in stilts. Seriously, very nice set up.
