  1. ok thanks fellas. I'm going to use my whisker biscuit for now so I'll measure 1" longer than where the arrow rests on the WB at full draw. I'm going to go with 7595 with 125 grain probably.
  2. I shot a friend's 28" draw length on the same bow and it felt perfect. I didn't get it professionally measured. So if I get the arrows cut at 29" and keep it 65-70lb then I should be shooting 7595. I'm wondering if I should shoot 100grns or if it's too stiff to shoot those. Thanks fellas.
  3. So i got my bow. draw is perfect. I'm not exactly sure of the draw weight but it's got to be around 65 as the limb aren't buried. So, I'm wondering whether to go with the 5575 and a 100 grain BH or the 7595 and a 125 grain BH.
  4. I am a 28" draw length. I made do with the 30" because the bow was give to me and didn't bother changing it. I know arrow brands are personal preference, but I'm looking for the right weight/spine/length
  5. Hey guys, I started bowhunting last season with an old Bear with 55lb draw weight and 30" pull. I use Carbon Express 250gr arrows with it with 125gr broadheads. It shot fine for me. I just bought a Mathews Switchback XT and am looking for new arrows under around $60 for 6. It has a 28"DL and I'll set the DW between 65 and 70lbs. So at the minimum, i need a 325 grain arrow. So what length should I get them cut to? Also, how do I determine the spine of an arrow? I was reading about Goldtip 7795 and they seem like a good arrow. I was shooting 125gr muzzy broadheads with the my last setup but I was thinking of shooting 100gr this year for a bit more speed. Thanks!
  6. still haven't got one yet but I'm pretty set on a mathews switchback xt.
  7. I've read great things about the Elite GT500 and I'm keeping my eyes open for a used one.
  8. should have read the whole thread before asking
  9. Where abouts in pawling do you hunt? I live in pawling and hunt on private land in wingdale and millbrook.
  10. So, I think now my options are: Mathews Switchback XT-good bow and I don't want to spend more (than $500) on a newer model Mathews, especially when any newer Mathews in my price range comes bare bow. Hoyt Alphamax 2009-they have good reviews and they sell loaded on ebay (and archery talk) for about $500. PSE Brute X 2012-can get it loaded RTS brand new for under $500 and they are getting awesome reviews. I hope Flying Arrow will have the Brute and maybe the Hoyt to try out.
  11. So a buddy of mine just bought a Mathews Switchback XT from his friend. I shot it a handful of times and it is very smooth and is quick and silent. I was surprised to hear that there Switchbacks were made in 2006 I believe. Anyone use one of these? I'm wondering if I should look for one used (4-700) or try and get a newer Mathews.
  12. Also found a Stinger on there for $350 fully loaded. It's incredible how fast the bows on there are listed.
  13. I shoot a 29" but I get your point. I'll keep scanning AT for some deals. Only PITA thing is I have to check reviews and prices for all the bows because I don't know much about them. Thanks for the help
  14. So fellas, I got to handle a few bows yesterday at Dick's Sporting Goods. I handled a Diamond package, can't remember the model but it was $550, a PSE Brute x and a Bear Encounter. The PSE and Bear felt better than the Diamond and I didn't like the accessories on the Diamond package. I really like how the Brute X felt and looked and the salesman raved about them. I've read a ton of reviews and it seems the Brute X is the best in my price range. The package is $500 but I found a cheaper dealer on ebay for $450 shipped, and they'll set your desired weight and length before shipping so I think I may buy it there (in skullworks camo) and spend the other $50 on arrows and tips and possibly a case if I can find one.
  15. So, I've yet to go to a bow shop but I've been doing some rearch and the Bear Outbreak seems like a great deal. Ready to hunt package is $400 and includes 308 IBO, 3.5lbs weight, up to 70bs pull with 80% let off and Trophy Ridge whisker biscuit, sights and stabilizer. Seems like a good deal. I like the PSE Stinger too at the same price but it's a pound heavier. The PSE is 3.5" longer. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Bear-Outbreak-RTH-Bow-Package/1336736.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dbear%2Boutbreak%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=bear+outbreak&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products http://www.cabelas.com/product/PSE-Stinger-3G-Ready-To-Shoot-Package/1299964.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dpse%2Bstinger%2B3g%26x%3D23%26y%3D8%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=pse+stinger+3g&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
  16. Thanks guys. I will have to head out to Flying Arrow Sports asap and try some out
  17. Hello fellas. I was given a 10 year old Bear bow last year. I put all new accessories on it and shot my first doe with it last season. Now, I'd like to buy a new bow for around $400. The Bear is kinda on the slower side (55lbs) and is noisy no matter what i do. So, what brands do you recommend and can anyone link me too a good bow. I would shop at Dick's but they don't really have bows out yet and I want to start shopping and looking around now. Thanks.
  18. Hey man I love your pics. Can you post your camera setting for some of these pics? Just getting into photography myself in the past 6 months.
  19. My first buck. Opening day 9 with shotgun. 3G.
  20. You know reem's mother is sick right? Either way, they're both juicing...they all do. Just the good ones never get caught because they time their cycles right. Right...Brock is natural hahaa
  21. Nope, nor would I. My hunting partner shot one opening day this year. The thing is you rarely ever hear them, they are almost dead silent.
  22. going to Minnesota for a bobcat? I'm only 20 minutes from you and we see them here every season. Just got a nice sized one on trailcam too. I'll have to upload a pic.
  23. Brock's a douche anyway. Overeem will light him up and Brock will cover up and drop just like he did with Cain.
  24. I bought a foodsaver vss44 for $21 shipped on Slickdeals.com and it's awesome. I butchered my deer up yesterday and vacuum sealed every serving of meat.
  25. Yeah i know now. I think that's a crap shoot though with a very low success rate.
