so much wrong with this.
-
I had a small one come out from a field and run up into cover last week during bow. I make some screeching noises to it and it was interested but not enough to head my way. Saw a much bigger one tonight in a different stand. Came out of the laurel and just walked on every down tree it could. very silent.

I can see fine at 6:20 and wouldn't have a problem shooting if it were legal. I heard 5 shots at 6:20am yesterday too. Some people just don't care.

Winchester dual bond slugs
blackradio replied to biggamefish's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
i use them. Took the buck in my avatar and a doe last season. The slug didn't pass through the deer, each under 20 yds, but the buck only ran 20 yards and the doe dropped right there. They really pack a punch. -
went to check my camera today at work and it was gone too. One of the mexicans from the tree company (going around the county clearing lines) must have taken it because they were working at my job for 4 days, about 30 of them, and there is crap and toilet paper all around where they were sneaking into the woods to crap. Two of the batteries were laying on the ground right near where it was. I tracked down the manager and told him to find it or he owes me $100. I walked him into the woods and showed him the evidence, waiting for him to call in the morning. Bastards.

hah I read this thread the other day and then got into the woods. Got my safety harness on and before I could sit down, a deer ran up the hill and came right into me. It was a button buck and stayed 10 feet from my stand for 10 minutes, then walked calmly into cover.

I have one. 2-7x32 i think. awesome scope. Mounted on a Mossberg 12 gauge. I shot my first buck with that combo last year (in avatar). When i started hunting 2 years ago, i leaned my gun against a tree when i was pissing and it slid over and smacked a big rick right on the scope. The scope was a nick on it but i shot it the next day and it didn't move a bit. Tough and very very clear. I'd buy another.

Which Camera to Get - LLbean.com
blackradio replied to irish_redneck's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
Stay away from primos. Between a friend and I, we have 5 Truth Cam 35 cameras and 3 were sent back for repairs because they just stopped responding. Had a frigging hell of a time getting primos to pay for return shipping too but after a week of calls they finally gave in. The cameras stated screwing up again shortly after and it's not worth the hastle to send them back again. The 2 that didn't screw up were bought recently so I'm sure they will. Crap quality and customer service to match. -
stalked a squirrel and shot at 21 yards, missed over it's back and couldn't find my arrow after 30 minutes. fml

Hello From The Hudson Valley Region
blackradio replied to WoodManOutdoorAdventures's topic in Introductions
Cool, my father grew up in Mahopac in the 50's and 60's. Any of you get your taxidermy done by Andy Kinash in Mahopac? He does nice work from what I've seen. My first buck (in my pic) is there now. Should be done in a few months...excited! -

welcome. Where in Hudson Valley? I'm in Pawling. -
yeah I reported a deer the other day and it said I have 8 outstanding tags. Maybe they include turkey and bear. My numbers matched though.

Shot at a huge 8... Please tell me I'm not crazy
blackradio replied to Geno C's topic in Bow Hunting
Sounds to me like you slashed him on the top of the back. That would give you the hair and maybe the gargling sound. I hope I'm wrong. Finding where he was standing will tel the story I think. Good luck. -
electronic calls are apparently legal now for deer in NY.

Excited for tomorrow, hope to see my #1 drop tine buck.
blackradio replied to blackradio's topic in Bow Hunting
went out with my hunting partner yesterday for an afternoon sit. We sat about 400 yards away from eachother on the same ridge where we have the other pics of drop tine. On the way to the stand he checked his cam and got 2 more pics of him. Amazing buck. Sorry for the shit quality (pic off computer screen) There's a bunch of other good bucks but this is my #2 although this is the only shot we have of him and it was in mid July. He should be a beast now. I have my work cut out for me! -
mid 130's maybe 140

blackradio replied to blackradio's topic in Bow Hunting
I'm not good at telling length but his g2's and g3's seem long..like 8" maybe? Hard to tell brow tine length too. But he's a nice symmetrical 8 with 2 drop tines. Only 1 way to find out! -
This will be my third hunting season, and second bow season. Took my first deer ever last year, a small doe with a bow, and took a great 9pt and adult doe with shotgun. I am very lucky I am able to hunt the spot I do. It's a 200 acre piece of land with huge fields, great cover and the deer just seem to love it. There is 1000's of acres of fields and cornfields all around and only a few farmhouses on the road. My coworker let's me hunt there and we've been getting some awesome buck and a lot of bears. I spent most of my time last year in a stand I put up in between a top field and a lower field, next to a stream bed and covered with prickers, cedars and oak trees. I saw a bunch of deer there last year and shot 2 so I thought it was a no brainer to hunt that stand early this season. I have gotten a ton of deer pictures there, a nice bear pic, and this awesome buck. you can make out the drop tine on his left side and we just got a picture of him last week where you can see the drop tine on his other side. Very symmetrical 10 pt with drop tines, the first drop tine we've heard of around. Really excited to hunt him. Also got a nice bear I'm going to hunt this stand in the morning, hoping to get lucky. But after tomorrow I think it's smart to stay out of there and hunt different stands or other places I have access to, so I don't stink it up and hopefully drop tine will feel comfortable in the thick prickers as November rolls around. Good luck fellas.

Thanks again for the info fellas. So I finally shot it today. Put the whisker biscuit on and borrowed a few arrows from a friend and it shoots a few inches high and to the left at 20 yards. The third set I busted my buddy's arrow when I hit the end of one arrow with the second arrow. Damn, now I owe him an arrow. I think I'll get the arrows cut at 29" to give it a little more flex and because I don't like having the broadhead behind my hand. The draw weight is very comfortable where it is, probably early-mid 60's and I'll probably leave it right there. On the gold tip chart, that gives me 5575 or 7595. I figure if I go with the 7595 which weigh 295 grain, and use a 125 grain BH, plus inserts, it'll weight right around 450 grains.
