  1. I've been out 25 hours so far this shotgun season (started 2 weeks ago) and have seen 1 small doe. I haven't heard or seen anything else. I hear about 1 shot an hour within a mile or so around me.
  2. I just bought a Vortex Viper 2-7x32 scope and mounted it on my Mossberg 500 shooting 3" slugs. When I first shot it after mounting the scope, I wore a big pair of safety glasses just to see if the scope would touch it and it didn't. I'm very happy with it.
  3. First shot here was 6:36 then 8 more shots within 2 minutes. Between 6:36 and 9:30 I heard 120 shots (I was bored can you tell?) I had a small doe appear at 50 yards and come straight to my stand and stopped at 11 yards. She looked at me but put her head down and kept eating the thorns. Then she came in closer almost right under me before my buddy (220 yards away) shot at a buck twice. The doe looked at the direction the shots come and ran about 10 yards then hung out for a bit. She didn't seem bothered I was there.
  4. Mossberg 500 with rifled cantilever barrel. I have Remington Copper Solid 2 3/4 and Winchester Supreme Elite 3". Scope is a Vortex Viper 2-7x32. I just got the scope Friday but the rings are too low so I had to order some medium rings. They should be here Thursday or Friday. Gun season opens Saturday =(. I'm hoping I have enough time to get it bore sighted and shoot a few rounds of each brand out of it to get her sighted in. Gunna be close!
  5. What's the difference between Tinks 69, Buck Bomb and other doe Estrus?
  6. Just bought the Vortex Viper 2-7x32 and rings for $203 off SWFA. Can't wait!
  7. Fellas. I've been doing a lot of research on scopes. I couldn't find any information of the Redfield's performance with shotguns. But, I just found that the Vortex Vipers 2-7x32 are on sale for $170. Seems like a great deal considering they are normally $260 and the Crossire 2-7 is $115. I think I'm gunna pull the trigger on one.
  8. I don't know if the Redfield is for shotguns. I find no mention of it on their site or anywhere else online. I looked on their scope rings charts and it has the proper rings for rifles but no shotguns.
  9. Thanks guys. Damn I'm torn between the Vortex Crossfire 2-7x32 and the Redfield Revolution 2-7x33. Both have awesome lifetime warranties. The Redfield is $20 more.
  10. I still gotta buy a scope for my Mossberg 500, mount it and sight it in. The scope is gunna be a Vortex Crossfire, not sure whether to get 1.5-4x32 or 2-7x32.
  11. Hey guys. I'm going to buy a Vortex. Not sure whether to get the 1.5-4x32 or the 2-7x32. The 1.5-4 has 4.5" eye relief. The 2-7 says it has 3.2-4.5" What does this mean when they give a range like that?
  12. We've seen a few bucks but they're just starting to chase does around.
  13. The Vortex Crossfire 1.5-4X32 looks like it fits the bill. 4.5" eye relief and it's $100. The Redfield 2-7x33 also looks nice at $140 but has 3.7"-4.2" of eye relief. I don't understand when they put an eye relief range. The Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 is the last I'm considering. $115 and 3.8" eye relief. Is that enough? Shooting a 12ga with 3" slugs. Both have incredible warranties, Nikon's isn't as good. I'm leaning towards the vortex based on the extended eye relief and it's cheaper. Thoughts? Gunna order in the next few days.
  14. I got about 20 yards from a group of 20+ turkeys about 3 weeks ago. Couldn't get a shot though as I was on my knees. I spooked them and they were gone. I haven't seen them since but see signs of them every day.
  15. I killed a bunch of squirrels last year with a daisy 600fps bb gun. A pellet takes them down even easier.
  16. Hey guys I've been reading about scopes and have decided to spend a bit more than planned and get a nice scope so I don't have to replace it in a few years. I found this Nikon scope that looks like it fits my needs: http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-SlugHunter-Shotgun-1-65-5x36-Nikoplex/dp/B001RXYBOU/ref=pd_sbs_sg_5 I read good things about Nikon but is it only certain lines of Nikon? If you were going to spend $200 AT MOST for a 12ga shotgun scope, what would you choose and why?
  17. Thanks guys. Just bought a 24oz bottle off Amazon for $13 shipped.
  18. I'd like to buy a leupold for my shotgun. Anyone know a good place to buy a used one?
  19. I was turkey hunting last week and when I got out of the woods I had a big bit on my arm that swelled up an inch diameter around the bite. I also have a bunch of bites on my back that got swollen and itch really bad; they're just starting to clear up. Not really sure what bit me but it wasn't a tick. I've also pulled 4 ticks off me in the past week or two. Now, thinking about deer season...what tick repellent do you guys use? Is there any scent free tick/bug repellents?
  20. The only thing I don't like is that the eye relief is 4.1"
