  1. thanks, taxidermist aged him at 3.5 years.
  2. This is my first buck ever and first deer with a gun. I think it came out awesome, I've been smiling all day. Can't stop looking at him.
  3. Because he likes seeing mountain lions and doesn't pump them full of lead when they come around? I guess I'm a tree hugger too.
  4. I'll probably fish the lake that day for trout and hit up the streams during the week.
  5. have these all over my property and job too. I'll try one.
  6. so we'll still be able to buy 10 round clips from stores and with new guns, but can only load 7 rounds in them?
  7. I don't know about those other kinds, but I'll read up on them now. Thanks
  8. Started looking today for some promising spots for morels as I was shed hunting. Can't friggen wait to start looking and getting some! Last year was the first year I looked and I found more than 10 pounds of them at my job. Does anyone sell these to restaurants or private sellers? Seems like they go for a pretty penny but not sure of the legality of it in NY. Last year I vacuum sealed the ones I wanted to save and they turned kinda bitter. I will definitely dry them this year. Getting pumped!
  9. I was shed hunting today and saw a big butterfly, mostly black with some orange. Wouldn't stay still long enough to snap a pic. Thought it was cool.
  10. brb, putting my bird feeders out.
  11. Looks really good so far. I never even boiled mine. Just put it in hot water with orange cleaner and let it sit for hours and wouldn't scrape it with a scraper/sheetrock knife when I'd think about it. Then after I got all the meat off it, I made sure I got all the brain and nasal passage out of it then soaked rags in peroxide and layed them on the skull, resoaking it every day for 3 days. Not perfect but not bad for my 1st time.
  12. Thanks guys. Yeah, as I know it, this is a euro mount and with the teeth included is a western mount but who cares i guess.
  13. Thanks guys, I kinda wish I kept the hide an tanned it myself because it was a beautiful deer. But i really just didn't have the time or knowledge to do it myself and since the taxidermist was going to flesh it and cut the skull for me I thought why not. I'll do some research this year and try my hand at tanning when I get another deer.
  14. Got this buck last day of shotgun this past season. My second buck. I shot a bigger one in the 2011 season but that's still at the taxidermist getting a shoulder mount. So here's the first deer on my wall. Didn't cost a dime. The taxidermist fleshed it out and kept the hide and cut the skull for me. I cleaned it up and all that and made a plaque out of scrap pine at my job. I like how it looks. 1st of many.
  15. Worked at a summer camp all through colege as a maintenance worker. Now I'm working at the same place full time for last 4 years as a carpenter. Best part is I'm outside a lot, have a nice spot to hunt at my job and my partner and boss are both big hunters too.
  16. yeah, seriously. get a life. Why does it bother you if I want to give up my guns?
  17. Button buck with bow. Adult doe with shotgun Nice 6pt last day of gun
  18. Not accurate. I've been registered for a year and a half and I'm not listed and I have friends who aren't listen either.
  19. Well the Dick's that I go to is the one near Newtown so yeah, I get why they took the guns off the shelves for the time being.
