  1. yup mine came yesterday too. I'll open it, make sure it'll all there and store it.
  2. He's 100% right. What's so hard for you to understand about that?
  3. going back out with the bow.
  4. Got this great blonde 6pt today at 9:56 AM. My bud and I were hunting about 300 yards from each other on the same ridge, on either side of a huge, thick and swampy bedding area. We know it's a great area and last Thursday morning I saw our #1 double drop tine buck (made a thread on him) heading back into the bedding as well as a 140 class 8 dogging some does. So, I knew this stand is in a great spot (shot my first buck in my avatar in this stand last year) and was hoping to see one of these bucks. Well, hunted the stand Friday morning and saw a few does so I decided to end the season in the stand. Saw nothing and neither did my buddy so he said he was going to slowly walk a trail we cut through the swamp. After 10 minutes a doe ran past a full speed. After another 10 min I see something come over the top of the hill and I figured it was my friend. But then I saw the rack and he did a once over of the area and headed towards me. I was going to pass when I counted his points (thought he was a 4) but I saw his tines and spread and wanted him. He spotted me when I reached for my gun but he kept it moving and I stopped him at 20yds with a "mah" and let a round go the best I could as I was shaking really bad. He ran 50yds towards the bedding and stopped behind a tree and just froze. His vitals were blocked but i could see a little blood. After a minute, he took two steps forward towards bedding and I shot again a 65yds and he dropped right there. Turns out first shot was true, taking out his lung, liver and stomach and the second shot came out high and somehow dropped him. Beautiful blonde 6pt. I'll try my best to tan his hide and I'll boil the skull. Not one of the huge guys I was after but he is an awesome deer and I am just as happy to take him.

    Last day

I got my second buck ever today. Nice wide 6 with beautiful blonde head. 3rd deer this hunting season. Good season for me.
  6. I guess he is in Carmel, on Carmel Road. Not sure why but I can't find a website. I've been there before though. Legit place.
  7. I use Andy Kindash in Mahopac. Everyone I know uses his and he does great work and has good prices but does take a while.
  8. Nice story. I wish I had something like that of my grandfathers. Nice big doe too.
  9. They hang their deer like this every year, it boggles my mind.
  10. My neighbors down the road have two does hanging in the front yard from a tree. The mature doe they shot on opening day of gun, and the young doe was shot last weekend. I kid you not, both are still hanging in the tree as of 5pm today. It has gone from 26-60 degrees this past 2 weeks and the sun is beating on it every afternoon. It was hanging lower in the tree today so I think they plan on butchering it tomorrow before the 60 degree weather comes again.
  11. I'm frustrated too sometimes. A guy I went to high school with posted pictures of 3 different bucks he took during regular season. He and all his friends post picks every few days of them with deer. I reported him last week to DEC via the online forum and the investigator called me back and said "where does this guy live? The troopers don't know him" I told him the town but I don't know his address. He said "yeah unless we catch him in the act it's hard to do anything about it. You know anyone can post what they want on facebook right?" "I said "ok, just thought i'd let you know, bye"

    500' ?

you don't have to be 500" from roads.
  13. 1.5 hours before legal shooting light.
  14. The most i let one hang is 2 days. I butcher them the same day or next day. I'll usually quarter them, package all the meat from the body in foodsaver bags then put the 4 legs in garbage bags and store them in a fridge at my job for a day or two until i get time to break them down further.
  15. Looks awesome. Are these cold smoked or hot smoked?
  16. good to see some locals. I live in Pawling, near the Wingdale train station. I hunt about 80 acres of private land in Wingdale. Hard property to hunt.
  17. Got this doe 5 minutes after legal shooting light on Thanksgiving. She and 6 other does were pushed out of another thicket into the spot I was. They all stopped at 80 yds and looked around and I picked the biggest one and pulled the trigger. 30 yds blood trail and there she was.
  18. Still looking for a 3G. Have a 3N to trade. Please and thank you!
  19. where do you hunt Dom? I'm south of Amenia too. I hunt in Dover near Tower Hill Rd and also In wingdale.
  20. looked promising early with a ton of bucks on cam. I took a button with the bow early on and today I took a mature doe with shotgun. Last week was the peak for me. Saw a lot of chasing action. Drew on a 6 pt at 30 yards on the 13th when he was chasing 4 does but couldn't get him to turn for me. Then the next morning had a doe come under the stand and then a big wide 8 or 10pt come to 34 yds but was blocked by a blow down. Been really slow since gun opened. Saw 7 does today but only because they got pushed out of the other guys property. Getting after them again tomorrow. good luck.
