  1. That would be a good show..Seger and Walsh...talk about road trip tunes.
  2. Agreed. Richards looks like he has been dead ten years already. Would be nice to at least see them once.
  3. Many cameras stop working with the levels of cold we got in January and February. The alkalines are not going to fire cams consistently with high draw currents at around 5-10 degrees sustained or lower, and lithiums not much lower than that.
  4. Kales come to mind having the sweetness factor beforehand, but I have never once grown kale. Not really sure why it's not more popular from a brassica perspective. I know some have a longer growing season.
  5. We've already went down the path of "if you don't follow the law, you are a horrible human being" in that news story thread. Selective law abiding is not to be tolerated was one camp's position, and the other was selective law abiding is acceptable in certain circumstances. Hopefully nobody in that "100% follow the law" camp has ever violated this one, because that's very hypoctrical.
  6. Actually been looking at the throw and mow method that is becoming popular. Not a huge fan of brassica for October and November...had very little utilization of it at that time. Most action I have witnessed has been Dec. and Jan. use.
  7. For bow season? That's what I am specifically looking at. While clover maintains some draw in bow season, I see utilization drop like a rock after about mid-Oct.
  8. What the's best return for the effort/investment in your book for a bow season food source (plot wise) in October and November for a single variety? Corn is nice, especially when it's not around the area. But, it's also very labor intensive. Same with beans, and there's some downtime from yellowing to late winter attraction. Oats can draw in big, but can peter out with a frost pretty quickly, leaving not much around in some years. Clovers pretty much the same thing - seems like you get a week or two of draw at the start, and then it drops off fast as deer move elsewhere. Obviously natural browse and mast are a factor, as are location, and a billion other inputs. But, push comes to shove, what's the best bang for your buck and time? I have limited experience with oats - some but not much - and oats seem intruiging to me. I know they don't seed well without covering, but some people report they have luck with it. Corn has been king in my area, but with so much of it in prior hunting locations, it has never been planted as a food plot, and it's too labor intensive for my preference from an implement, time, and cost perspective.
  9. Every feral cat I have ever seen was hunting bald eagles. Phew. I'm safe!
  10. What model WGI cams take multi pics of a trigger? The higher end crush cams?
  11. If you are on flat ground in a basic 15ft treestand and have to make some quick decisions/moves - and you happen NOT to have incline on, range a tree at the point of the impending shot at your height. This will give you a more accurate reading if you have concerns about ranging a trail because tall grass is in the way, or brush, etc.
  12. Because of the frequency we hunt sets for the first time each season or the fact we move stands alot, I bring my RF and range the likely shot locations and it lets me be prepared without the need to range. I have ranged deer and then shot them, but those are few and far between and mostly field edge shots. The incline setting can be pretty helpful depending on the type of ground you hunt. I find little variation in shot distance adjustment on flat ground when in a basic stand 15' off the ground or so, give or take. The do help in areas where you are hunting hillsides, ie, you could be eye level with the ground above you and have a serious drop off below you. I bring my RF all of the time because it has a 6x magnification and I actually use that rather than bringing binos on most hunts. if I am going in all day, I will bring the binos, but for a few hour sit? The RF will do.
  13. This is a good option for someone looking to try out crossbow hunting or even as a backup to their bow/crossbow. It is a Horton Summt HD crossbow, shoots around 265 FPS. It has a Tru-Glo scope on it (one light scuff mark on the scope body, cannot catch a nail on it). Also included will be the quiver and a few bolts (a couple horton/cabelas brands, two are not shown in the pic). The crossbow is very lightweight. The string and serving has some wear on it. You may be able to get the string re-served and get some more use out of it or you may want to replace the string. I would like to sell for $150 CO US.

    Frost

That's good in my book. The snowmelt coming needs to come slowly for me.
  15. I think it should go in the politics section. It does suck though.
  16. This site is full of heathens and perversion!
  17. Never been fired, and I had to think about it if that was true, which is weird. I have however put in my two week notice and received counter offers a time or two. While it is an advantageous situation, I personally don't enjoy it because I am burning a bridge. Burning bridges is a forced/learned skill for me; not something that comes naturally and is a weakness in my skill set. Anyone can be replaced is my mindset though; that might be why I am worth a penny or two. Interesting note on the jigalo comments - When I lived in VA, I had a neighbor who owned a Viper, a Corvette, a nice Abelmarle 24' with Yanmars, and he was 23ish. Never could figure out how he came into money like that despite having wealthy parents. He wasn't from the area and had just got out of the Navy after a few year stint. Turns out he started a male escort business. Not my kind of interest, but he earned some serious money. His father was a successful financial advisor and after buying the cars/boats, he started investing heavily into a diversified portfolio. Last I heard he moved to Florida and pretty much stopped working by the age of 30, and bought a nice house on the water in Ft. Lauderdale.
  18. The law is boxed in...feral cats are much more common than dogs, but the delineation point is determining feral vs. owned property and that doesn't seem possible. The law won't change any time soon. I've had enough discussions with people who encounter lots of animals whether game or ag/markets ownership, or know the plight of these situations based on their career, that SSS has been pretty much universally recommended off the record. It is a risk, criminally and civil-wise. Not one person ever recommended to me to do nothing in a private conversation. I find that telling. The TNR approach is laughed at by these same people, too.
  19. I have have feral cats at my place that knock over my garbage can. I dont have much love for them. They also rose in numbers as the pheasant numbers dropped. I have a small recurring natural pheasant population (was a preserve in 40/50s) and they are thin now.
  20. Are all Bosnians bad? Seems like a generalization type statment.
  21. Papist, when the church says there is no conflict/multiple religions live in harmony...anything you say to the contrary seems insignificant to counter that...even forsaking the history lesson. If it is good enough for the church, probably good enough for Christians. You stepped in it with that one, old chap. The kid knows a thing or two.
  22. Wow, kid you were right, even the church said Albania serves as an example for multiple religions living together peacefully. You were not kidding. This is like one of those youtube fight videos where the crowd goes "ohhhhhhhhhhhh" after a crazy KO. Certainly interested in seeing Papist respond to that considering even the church itself stated peaceful coexistence takes place there and serves as a model for the rest of the world. Great points kid.
