How many seasons to keep a hang on stand in the woods?
phade replied to regulat0r's topic in Deer Hunting
I don't disagree with you, BUT, a strap can be inspected in the field...cables with weatherproofing are near impossible to inspect in the field. I agree hang-ons should be taken down and put up again. -
The fat short guy is a hardcore bowhunter...shoots hoyt iirc.

The dangerous part isnt the straps because they can be inspected. Hangon dangers come from water entering the platform cables unerneath the weatherproofing wrap. The cable could be rusting and you have no idea until it breaks and the stand either gives way or cants so much so fast you fall. -
Let it go....let it goooooooooooo. LET IT GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLet it go.

how about turkey?I usually set cams out for turkey in March and will listen/scout in April.

Looks like there may just be statewide Antler Restricts.
phade replied to Four Season Whitetail's's topic in Deer Hunting
Is there a beam length that protects 1.5s only in force somewhere? I know beam length is used in some states but mostly with design to protect bucks older than 1.5 i think. Usually its a protrction of 2.5 and under. Not sure the appetite is there for that in NY with basic points AR being mixed support. -
What is worse? Being a whiner, or being a whiner about whiners....why don't you just "let it go." (You walked into that one face first.)Good for them. They pay a big price other times.

Wholesale or large scale shooting season after season of 1.5s that meet the ar minimum results in highgrading. Thats why beam length shrunk in VTs sampling by an independent third party. Its also been witnessed in other states, like MS, where it has been in effect a long time. You do eliminate or largely reduce the genes (the role it does play) with AR because the 1.5s are not breeding at a high enough rate to keep the gene alive. -
That is a story to tell for sure. One of those "you had to be there" stories, but this pic is worth a thousand words.

I think he is talking about highgrading which even in the BEST of cases, comes up mixed results. Many studies show highgrading. -
I don't really notice buzzwords like that. I notice phrases that seem to get hot...like "seeing the big picture." That's a buzz phrase of late.

There is a balance with everything. If this was not there to influence, another item in the sphere of influence would be. Not sure there is anything to replace it that could be free and clear impartial, unbiased, etc.

Look Grow, when you can't laugh at yourself, you are wound too tight. I expressed pretty clearly to have some fun and not take this too seriously. I have plenty of errors in my posts as well, so don't feel like I am being high and mighty, OK.As far as my comment being inane, meh, but I can see how that comes across. Women have been sweet talked since language was used instead of clubbing over the head. I don't think anyone would disagree. Same goes for guys for the record, I just don't have experience with that personally. The babbling was an exercise in using "silly." And for the record, I have to say I women are better at alot of things...work or home. More even keeled when pressure is on... The Napolean complex is a little boggling to me, but hey, I've been called worse! If the shoe fits, I will wear it! Definitely no experience in dear and dear hunting though, lol.

The hijacking of the term" Liberalism"
phade replied to adkbuck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Be careful, keep talking about hunting and a hunting thread might breakout on politicalny errr huntingny.com. -
Of course. I almost made a thread about noticing the trend of women incoherently babbling. The more I thought about it, the less I liked the idea of speaking truth. That's silly. Grow, have some fun here. Don't take this too seriously.

Glad you fixed here...to hear....now just change woman to women and the irony of this whole thread goes away....and I'm not digging nor getting specific/critical, I promise. Just an observation. Commanding the English language is never a bad thing. I rank it as effective as alcohol as far as its effect on women and their ability to judge.

phade replied to adkbuck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Is this true (I have no idea it is or not)? "A Republican bill in Congress right now lays out almost exactly the same net neutrality plan the FCC just voted on." -
There's way too much to elaborate on to really capture it, but triggers can be moved to the side (beaver/otter), traps set far enough away from trails to catch dogs, snare hieght, loop size, bait (using sweet vs. meat or fish based), and so on. If you are interested in trapping or learning more about it, there is a good NY trapper forum online. Very good people - they can be cranky at times, but that group will come to one another's help faster than any other sporting group I've ever seen.

I wish there was this much passion against feral cats.

You cannot fully prevent that, but proper trap placement, trap use, and trap setting can help limit it.

It's not that I don't care - it's more along the lines of not really fitting in with a hunting forum imo. But, we've went around and around on that topic and nobody comes off point. -
Training and learning doesn't stop at school. Soliders train well after boot camp. NASA scientists model landing on a moving asteroid, defending against aliens, and more. Do I need to even mention the CDC Grow? Take a look for yourself. http://www.cdc.gov/phpr/zombies.htm

I think there is a statewide ban on feeding deer, with the exception being the lone court case a year or two back that was locally struck down. Don't think it was down on LI, but somewhere just upstate.

He has been here before. He's had some health issues in the past; I wasn't a match for him when the call went out for help, but he did get some help back from the community. I think he gives back alot because of it.

Asking a completely logical question about the topic posted is following? Aye Aye Aye. You start more threads than anyone else on this forum. Naturally, that means more posts will follow yours than the other way. Or does that not register?
