Has nothing about disagreement. You just said you were telling others you were right based on some implied inside connections and face it...you were not. You guessed wrong.

I'd even give them Albany for free as a parting gift.

So I am looking at a particular county's property maps to look at land, boundaries, and owner names for deer hunting purposes. This particular website shows the maps, boundaries, addresses, but not the owner name. Other counties will show all of the info and the names as well. This county simply doesn't. I inquired and they told me I need to FOIL the information to get the owner name because they do not offer it publicly. So I'm sitting there thinking #1, that is silly, because other counties offer it. And #2, they provide all other details, including mailing address of the owner, so what does not revealing the name otherwise protect? Then it hit me - ON THE SAME WEBSITE PAGE is the link to the tax rolls, which shows the owner names. All you have to do is use the property number from the map and search the roll using the find feature. Duh - how freaking stupid is that? Its manual, but I don't need to FOIL it at all because it is available publicly. So they don't provide the name on the map, but provide everything else info-wise, and on the same page that loads the map is the link to the roll that provides the name.

You GUESSed as you capitalized that, some changes would be in 2015 and some in 2016. Dude you are so far out there i cant even comment further.

Well that just opened a hornets nest.

The origin of the filing is from Wayne County, not downstate...but also not the same county as Holley. Stupid petition...if it is within the daily game limits then it really isn't going to impact squirrel populations because that is what the regs are set at. They don't issue tags or any of the like for squirrels.

Highgrading does occur in pretty much every instance (whether that warrants not doing it I dont know), mucj of the state would need a 4 pt rule if no spread rule was introduced (spread rules for public management just seems too complicated in my opinion), and support isnt at 2/3 statewide. And as Doc stated parts of the state are no or low odds doe areas.
-
I dont have much time to get into it but theres alot that is not getting done right. The QDMA surveyed the agencies this past year on the importance of some of the problems facing deer management in their state. NY ranked their order as deer overpopulation (ie controlling numbers where there are too many doe), bad legislation, and third, too few deer specific employees.Staffing is a top three concern for the dec, along with bad legislation. Safe to say if the agency feels that way...probably a legit problem because i suspect the hunting public would likely agree they are understaffed.
-
Mike you post great things but the DEC could easily staff to the resources that generate revenue with the funds available. Such staffing could then work toward improved management of the resource. For whatever reason, agency, law, politics, etc. it is not done. When you dont have the warm bodies, not much else gets done. Its the lowest hole in the bucket.

Potential Hate Crime
phade replied to phade's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
When you are fired from your job and your former boss decries that your actions are not representative of a police officer....probably safe bet the former cop is a giant douche bag at the least and a bigot in most likelihood.A man is paralyzed for life because the cop acted outside of his assigend powers/duties. He should go to jail for some time imo. Im generally a skeptic with claims of police brutality but this is about as open and shut as can be. -
Potential Hate Crime

Police contend it was over a parking spot but the FBI is looking into it as a hate crime now. Whatever the outcome of that, I think the most telling aspect is that each person was killed with a single bullet to the back of the head. Not exactly symptomatic of road rage or parking rage or neighbor dispute. -

That guy got the raw end of the deal. The neighbor who called it in probably feels terrible now. -

BATF Rules on .223 Ammo Changed

Agreed. I generally align with conservative views but both sides of the fence are idiots much of the time or at fault for the maladies that plague this nation. -
Something about this winter is worse than years past. The snow pile and temps just seem to be more problematic than in years past.

Chesterton loved his alcohol. Interesting guy. Kind of shocked he is not known more in mainstream society...

BATF Rules on .223 Ammo Changed

Interesting post. With right wing in control of Congress, are they not just as guilty as the left wing owners of the Oval office?Seems like the right wing is in bed just as much as the left. -
Good is the enemy of great.

Yeah the vendor selection went downhill. Its much more about the guns now. Nothing wrong with that but its not as good as it used to be.

The last paragraph is pretty much it. The problem is there are a smaller subset of legit people who need a handout and we dont do a good job at screening the ones who are lazy or scammers. No idea how we do that. -
Its big. First time is the best, so enjoy it.
