I think you are quoting the wrong person or something.

Ill tell you a secret, our independence didnt start with everyone on the same page. It started with each individual not agreeing with a law and then breaking it, individually before ever doing it as a coalition.just because this is a hunting law makes zero difference. A law is a law is a law, right? Break one break them all, pretty sure that was said in this thread. But now you are saying that its ok to break a law if you break a law with others at the same time to protest? At least thats what it appears, correct me if I am wrong. Thats directly in conflict with your earlier statment ideology. So now there is a good reason to break the law if you dont agree with it? Kind of wishy washy there.
-
Oh please. Pretty sure there are very few people on this planet that have not willfully broken a law.Your logic is so flawed on this. We'd be flying the Union Jack if pansy asses like those who dont break the law existed in the late 18th century. I strongly believe in the law. It is a tie that binds. But, nothing but God is infallable in my book. Laws made by man are no exception. Sometimes laws are wrong either situationally or in context or in purpose. Simple fact based on the history of humans.

I disagree. i break the law when i deem it ethically responsible. i think most people in the world have a similar viewpoint. Very few people would be as righteous as where your opinion originated from. Breaking one law isnt the same as breaking all of them or the more serious ones. You have never done 56 in a 55?

Seriously? Talk about a wide paint brush.
-
I think they are supporting the premise but not the actions. I agree with you on that part.
-
Ok so breaking some laws are ok and not disturbing? just trying to see this ever moving line of demarcation.

Well played, well played. I'm really a nice guy in person. I swear. Kind of.

My portion of the contract is up in May. I'll be looking to start moving plans then. Our family plan pricing sucks and work is getting rid of reimbursements for it. Use to have my internet paid for and my cell phone...what next? I feel like that guy who has to move his office to the basement at work, lol. Have you seen my stapler? Let us know how she makes out Law. Don't know anyone on Smart Talk.

Heh, your household must be full of glass because no mistakes can be made because its far out there. Thank God my parents were willing to use parental judgement to break the law to let me grow/experience life. I agree with you on the circus he made out of it. The premise however, that breaking the law at deemed appropriate times, is as far out there as can be is flawed. I do think the coverup was lame...Most people probably support the act of the kid hunting/shooting, but not the cover-up. Thinking back on the laws my parents broke (sorry mom and dad): fireworks letting me drive around the school parking lot and back roads at 14/15 Letting me sip a beer at special occassions as I neared adulthood Shooting the squirrels before I had my hunter's ed course (ha Culver...) Participating in deer drives in similar fashion (ha again) I'm sure I forgot some. That reckless abandonment of the law. No wonder I grew up to be a mass murderer. Isn't that how it works? Small deviant behavior? Good grief.

Topic drift, I don't care. Interesting question - would property open up if "antler fever" didn't exist? Would we put value into the does similarly?
-
Disturbing? I don't find it disturbing. Do I agree with the actions? Not at all. I do think his commentary sucks. What I see is an ethical/moral diversion from the law based on their belief system. Does it make it OK? No, but its also not disturbing. I find the terrorist attacks in Paris disturbing (which ironically is a diversion on law, too, based on their belief system). I find the father in florida who threw his girl over a bridge disturbing. I find this to be filed in the same category as crossing a property line at 2:00 a.m. to retrieve a deer you shot because the landowner has denied permission to retrieve after you've exhausted efforts pre and post hunt. I find this to be similar to shooting a deer hit by a car that is suffering and choosing to not wait for the authorities. Against the law? Yes. Disturbing? No. NY's hunting age regs suck. This is someone acting out against it.

You know everything about everything, even when you don't know anything on a topic. Several other people here have commented on understanding the financial breakdowns I have provided in this thread as to the business rationale. You on the other hand, seem to be slow to seeing that. If you can't understand that an EMPTY ROOM costs money in a brick and mortar retail space, I don't know what to tell you at this point, I really don't. Have a good one Bubba.

Looks like there may just be statewide Antler Restricts.

The tough part is not being able to quantify it. Trending is good for the macro...it's when that buck is in front of you that makes it tougher, lol. -
Yeah but... Yeah but.......... Sheesh man, give it a break.

I thought of this, too, but that study to me carries little weight in northern climates becasue the outside factors become crucial when dealing with survival (not mortality, because if they are dead, I suspect that 2.5 was at a higher rate of potential, because his lifespan was then realized, ha). I wonder if a similar study would show the same % if done up here. Southern climates have to deal with drought, but bucks come out of the rut here going into the most challenging season from a survival standpoint (not hunting related) and a long tough winter can only make it worse, slowing down the start to the "growing" season. -
That's better. Rather different when it's a room at the front of the building for such purpose or the archery lanes (that aren't used any longer). You seem intent to yeah but this into infinity so I'll just say you win. Happy?

All GMs went through a facelift/remodel to the new store design. This included the guns going behind the counter. If the store hasn't gone through a remodel and is not with the new design, it will be. The Rochester one has been redesigned.

Do you need to supply your own phone? That often makes a difference in cost. I think there is a bit of a push on price wars, which is unexpected since the cost of data goes up due to the demand vs. supply.

If you are primarily stand hunting, buy a set of artice boot covers...cheaper and might do the trick. I can't imagine having 1,200 gram boots and being coled doing any hunting in NY other than on stand and idle. There's quite a few 1,000 and 1,200 options out there, but wow, do they ever turn into moon boots. Anything over 1,000 and I sweat when making any serious walks to the stand.

Agreed, if the owner was real smart he would have settled on a reduced lease rate. Maybe he did.

You need to take the thought process up one level - why pay overhead for an empty room? Now you have to hold a class just to try to make up for the operating expense of an empty room. Instead of selling to turn a profit, you are selling to balance a deficit that you didn't have to have in the first place. There's a reason why many small business fail. Accepting overhead like that in a retail situation - might as well have someone shoot you in the foot and then you thank them for it. Doesn't shock me they are not in business now.

I'm happy when we generally allow choice and general acceptance of why/when/how people hunt (legally, or whatever constraint you want to put on it). For me, personally... If I couldn't chase bucks, I'd lose my interest in any challenge related to deer hunting. I've killed some wiley old does who were a real challenge, very memorable encounters. BUT...I felt more relief than accomplishment when killing such Alpha does. Why? Because now they wouldn't be there to annoy me. That's my honest answer - nothing gets more frustrating then a smart alpha doe picking you off because she has a tell on you somehow. I get little personal satisfaction other than some meat in the freezer. It's more of a "Phew, now she won't be there blowing at me every time I sit this spot." It happened this year. A group of three does came in and the Alpha pegged me, but didn't run. She led the group away but I had a lane. I didn't get lined up in time for the Alpha, but I shot one of the other two. She really had me pegged. Thankfully a buddy ended up shooting her. She would have been trouble for future hunts in my mind. Relief, not accomplishment in that scenario. Am I thankful for a clean harvest, yes, you bet. Am I happy there is meat in the feezer, yes. Do I feel like I accomplished anything? No, not much personally. That's just me though. I've killed alot of does - maybe that contributes to it. Trying to think back, but I believe I may be over 100 does kills to date. I'm in a target rich environment in that respect. I know this sounds silly, but I generally get angry when I am locked onto a buck. It drives me to want to beat its defenses. When I know a shot is coming on a buck that I've worked darn near year-round on, I generally get pretty aggressive (in my mind). The few times I've noticed I don't get aggressive, I mess up or miss. When I messed up this bow season, I was in a state of mind like this was a "gimme shot" and subsquently screwed up. If I had the "you are dead because I'm going to thread this arrow right to the hair I pick out and worked all year for this moment" mentality, I'd be having Cantrell wrapping up my shoulder mount. Hunting if this were a real scenario would become more a mission for meat and for the social aspect. I hunt with some pretty good guys, and I tend to value that more than the actual pursuit. I would enjoy hunting in a more social setting in this scenario...one or two man pushes to a sitter, deer drives, etc. I'd spend more time with my family, probably get more into fishing and trapping than I am now, and I'd probably vacation/travel more.

Multi-use space can close the gap, but even in today's age it better be used very smartly to make it close to being above water. Multi-use space gets into so many other factors, such as not being able to use it to stock inventory, or time spent making sure the "multi-uses" are using the space (who is arranging the classes, who is bringing in the experts to do discussions, who is making sure they have hotel arrangements, who is making sure that the materials are there, or the room is clean, etc. and so on an so forth). Bass Pro and Cabelas and now F&S are doing this pretty well, but likely can justify it as a loss leader. I can go into why, but GM generally isn't in a place where that is the case, and the leadership hasn't dedicated to making that happen. Gander needs to focus on core components. The other stores are in better shape that can allow them to work on ancillary experiences with even a small loss to help maintain or improve already high sq/ft KPI.

Overhead? When was the last time overhead was free?
