  1. Fawn calls are effective throughout the season. I actually prefer the "lil can" call over the larger one and super sized version. Can calls shouldn't be as drawn out as they are, and the lil can is shorter and mimics a younger doe, and flipping it is all you need to do. Much easier than trying to staccato the larger cans.
  2. Thats one of the issues hunting field edges. Once in a while you can get into a setup where you can access and exit safely. Otherwise, the coyote yip, getting a partner to drive up, and taking your chance is all you can do. Getting away from field edges is a better way to hunt for thr most part. Take your shot at a field edge set once in a while but dont hunt right over the food source daily and expect them not to know about it.
  3. Theyre not super cheap but I gurantee they are worth it. They last too. Im on the original reeds from 2007! And hell replace the reeds and tune them for a couple bucks when you do get to that point.
  4. Do yourself a favor and buy a Vector Grunt tube. He's out of Missouri and his grunt tubes are pha-freaking-nominal. Vince is a good guy and you'll get a high quality call that works. I've killed bucks directly as a result of the call, young ones, and mature ones. I've also had more close calls than I care to count with it. I rarely pimp a product unless I am in belief it works. This one ranks right up there with the best hunting tool I have.
  5. Those who understand it ironically rule the world. Those who don't...wellll...... Roth can be a beautiful thing for younger people earlier on in their careers; pay taxes on it now at a lower bracket in most realistic scenarios. Problem is that many employer matches won't go along the Roth lines. The last line missed out on some advice, too. Don't cash the check if you somehow get one. Alot of times you can go back and fix that situation as long as you don't cash the check.
  6. Keep me posted how things go - I think you should invest in a Code Black. You'll have strong service where you are and will know fast that the numbskull is in there.
  7. We know who runs that household. LOL. Even your phone knows it's the wife.
  8. You should have been at 340 to begin with.
  9. Eberhart's bowhunting series and Brad Herndon's Mapping trophy bucks are must have's in my opinion. You won't agree with all tactics but you take what works within your system and apply it.
  10. For survey/census in summer and post season..I'd use corn or minerals. No doubt.
  11. I don't have any readily available. I may have one tossed in a tote somewhere, but I doubt it.
  12. Good luck! Get it done, in the grand scheme of things, hunting becomes an afterthought when your ticker starts misbehaving. Get that straight and you could probably hunt this season. I'd be all over getting it done asap.
  13. Bear rug and a euro skull.
  14. Not sure that even registers with a 315er, lol. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  15. I never would have guess you'd be a part of the Sales Prevention team.
  16. I'd say it is safe most people don't think of Rages as broadheads. LOL. Slick Trick Standards and Mags in my mind have proven to be the best non-mech head ever made.
  17. Just now starting to see early born fawns losing spots. Normal timeframe imo.
  18. If clover is your long-term plan (didn't re-read everything), you can lightly frost seed in the clover in the spring. We've had good luck with that to maintain clover plots. They'll fill in the spots left behind by the brassica too.
  19. Charging for a chance never seemed like a good move to me.
  20. If you shop around you can get a ladder stick for $30 or so, sometimes less, but probably not at this time of year. Screw ins might be cheaper, too, but not a fan of them for semi-permanent setups. A pair of quality ratchet straps can make the climber pretty rock solid. The top part might need to be toggled with the ensure easy entry/exit. Our was a summit ratched in with the front bar, but the seat was nylon and you could duck into it without much safety issue/concern.
  21. It has been done before - not ideal, but also a use out of a stand that won't see use. I don't think it would be cheaper because you already own the stand (unless there's a loan on it?).
  22. My bet is it'll need to go back. I'd personally go retrieve and get an RA# from Moultrie and send it in.
  23. I disagree on this part despite agreeing with you on the bettering your chance component. I'd take the right 3 acres over the wrong 100 any day of the week. Size while seemingly a major determination, isn't always THE most determining factor to success or ability.
  24. Don't worry, if you aren't there hunting over your five acres, I'm sure your neighbors are making good use of the food plots on your behalf, lol. JK. I think this thread has run its course. So happy deer season is near.
  25. Good cause indeed. I have a few extra arrows cut and fletched for this purpose, lol. It stinks being in a one deer a year household - if I am lucky. Wife won't eat it no matter what.
