Congrats! Let the teasing begin. Has he asked you where your buck is yet?

New? Been around 10 years, lol. Used it once back in 2008ish (maybe 07-09). Had a few does come in and literally sniffed the tree I rubbed it on. They were curious about it. Deer usually came into that area anyway, so I can't say that drew them in, but they knew it was there. I killed a smallish buck about 20 min later with the does still there as he came in to check them out. There's no magic bullet.

Hes a great buck!

Deer search needs consent from the owner directly for liability purposes and so they can call the DEC if necessary. That's a known fact.

Didn't think I would like it,buit texting/surfing the net makes time go by when it is slow. Some people think hunt to get away. I do too, but even at times its fun to have some jokes or say what was seen, etc.

Have a conversation with the hunter if there's potential for miscommunication. For the people talking about 250 yds...that's 750 ft, which is more than the minimum setback for guns to homes/buildings. When you are in residential or suburban areas...250 yds isn't even possible. Heck some of the properties I have stands on are not that long. As long as the conversation takes place and both parties understand, then there's no issue.

Similar process I use when I need to.

I wouldn't not hunt this weekend, unless safety is an issue. They'll be moving.

copper sponges work to remove hair if you run them over the body after skinning. We have been using the golfball method this year and seems to make doe butchering ridiculously faster easier and less hair.

Maybe the DEC releases wolf/coyote hybrid can team up with the DEC released cougers and really do some damage to the deer population.

It's medical knowledge. We have the same feature.

Say what? Break the seal on the cavity and the lungs cannot expand...deer dies. There is no no man's land. Shot appears high and non-lethal. The big shoulder everyone is talking about is not as big of an obstacle - the scapula is penetrated by most all moden day equipment. The offside can break the arrow and happens often. The real shoulder shot issues is when the knuckle is hit, which is a much smaller object and lower in chest. Many deer shot in the shoulder simply are not found in my experience because of the lack of blood trail or they did not hit the vital/cavity. Deer are wired, entry into the shoulder area can cause all kinds of wierd things. Shot a buck parallel at 35 yds in Ohio in 2012 and the entry was into the cavity but through the scalpula and the broadhead exited darn near straight down through the heart and out the bottom of the chest. The buck lurched at the shot and the motion broke the arrow and sent the front half down. Had two holes at a 90 degree angle.

Nice shot and buck. -
The Michigan Buck Poles are neat. It'd be cool to do that here, but our hunting heritage isn't as strong in this part of the state and it'd get too many complaints.

Running deer with dogs is something everyone should experience once. It's not something I would prefer to have as a lifestyle every season, but it is a method that seems to be more focused on group success rather than individual success, which I digress seems pervasive here in NY and isn't always the most enjoyable experience for me either. You want your heart pumping, take a stand and wait til you hear the dogs. When they're coming in hot toward you, its not unlike hearing the crunch crunch crunch of frozen leaves here before knowing what it is.

Not really going to hurt too much happening once. Starting a pattern would be more problematic.

There is a new game cam coming out that might do this, but I forget the name. Buckeye might too. Most situations people are better off with the SIM provided cell service. -
Great job all the way around. Besides the initial shot not being ideal (trust me, we've all been there), you did everything right from the get go. Well earned trophy.

Nice job man!

Congrats! Very nice buck!

So does climbing a tree or dragging a deer out (heart attack)...it's all relative.

I think you could and should include slugs in that weapon. Its six in one and half dozen in the other. One single projectile running for a mile vs. a handful running for a couple hundred yards. Both are equally dangerous in my mind. The common denominator is the hunter pulling the trigger.

While I agree I am not a fan of that pose, but again...we're all here whining and he's the one sitting behind the buck.
