Video is good but it really does take time to view them all so it adds up. I used to run alot more video than I do now and it would take me 2-4 hours to view them all. Now, I generally only run them on scrapes or very key select areas on cells that will send them.

Starting to fire up some movement. I think tomorrow AM is going to be even better. Lower winds so play the rising thermals guys! Good luck! Will be out this evening.

Short 90 minute hunt this evening. Two bucks including this 4pt guy. A handful of doe. Started using the flash on him lol.

I went North around 7 but didn't see any. Heading that way south, soon, for some tree time.

What time was that - I saw ZERO there. Those are my on and off ramps for work. Curious if it was later.

It's raining here. No rain gear in the truck....I don't often tap on these but I definitely didn't prepare right today.

Low photo count on cells yesterday. That said you still have to try. Wish work wasn’t in the way as this would likely have been the stand spot - right on a water source. Maybe today.

I have a brand new Bear X Constrictor CDX. Never shot. Bought it to hunt with if my back acts up. Ended up buying a Ravin too since I hunt Ohio more often in bow now. I will not be using the CDX. Looks like this lol. It’s downstairs and set up (not in a box to put together) but it’s literally new with tags and packaging still on it. Will sell to an adult for 350 local pick up. 300 if it’s going to a kid/youth.

Accutips had a batch made by the new owners. We've moved a few cases with new production dates. They are only making runs once every few years now. It's no longer a constant line. I also can likely more more here before regular season, too. -
Make sure you specify the model/load, too. Lightfield made a few for each gauge. They def did not perform the same either. Most people had the Hybrid EXP line I think. I may have a few but I think my partner does as well. He doesn't need them as he has transitioned into Accutips and SSTs, but he hordes stuff. I'll see if I can talk him out of it, lol. The market on them is crazy high too...so don't be shocked if someone offers a very high asking price. The release of straightwall in alot of other states has CRUSHED production of hunting slugs.

I'll break mine out tonight for sure...got a wagyu ribeye in mind.

Each person can only make their mind up. Shooting a 3.5 in NY pretty much puts you in the top 20-ish % of age class bucks. Holding out for 4.5 YO is not easy.
-
They’re out there. Still moving. Don’t let the temps talk you out of it.

I think he looks 3 - stout body for his age though IMO. He will be a really big bodied deer at 4+ if he makes it!

Thur/Fri/Sat look pretty good here. mid 50s, lows in upper 30s, high pressure and sun. I expect that will break some real action loose. It warms up on back end for early Nov. Seems to happen every year - those first few days of Nov are indeed above avg/warm.
-
Still need to get out IMO or make moves that prep you for the weeks ahead. We hunted Friday and Saturday PM and Sunday AM. Sunday PM we set a new stand and re-positioned and cleaned up a few after hunting there that AM. We noticed alot of fresh sign in a specific shaded area which makes sense. Had a good 2 yr old up on his feet at 10 yards Saturday PM. A good 3 year old 80 yards away at 7:45 AM Sunday. Plus more turkey than I wanted to see lol. My partner had alot of does around him this weekend but no bucks - hunting only a short distance away. I think in PMs you really need to be close to bedding and shady or low lying spots, which is not easy. Or, use this time to observe from afar - maybe low/no chance of scoring but at least you are getting intel.

Such an accurate generational statement.

I can recommend some good scopes pretty darn cheap (less than $100) if that is in the ballpark. They're normally over $100 but I have access to some lower prices. Open sights is fine, but I am sure you'd add a scope if you could.

We’re in. Not high hopes but nothing better to do, eh? Daughter had her year end soccer tournament across the counties. Daughter scored the final PK in a shootout in the 5 spot to win it for all the marbles. Down to her. Nailed corner net. Place went wild. I am ok if no deer tonight lol.

Funny story about apples and deer eating them. Stand I was in this evening a few years ago I had a button that wouldn’t leave and I wanted to get down. He was bedded so I chucked my Apple core at him. Hit him in his head and the dang thing proceeded to eat the apple. I can’t throw a baseball accurately to save my life but somehow zinged him. Ive heard of deer eating apples or cores from hunters before but it’s pretty funny when it happens for real in front of you. I would think they’d smell you and alert to it but I guess not.

I think we’re making the same point?

This guy came by on a stroll.

Love the spunk. Good on you. Just because someone wears Sitka or has money to spend on gear doesn’t mean they can’t hunt themselves out of a paper bag. Making judgement like that on your part is pretty poor IMO.

It works, I guess.
