  1. I spent a lot of time in the stand today, still am. I am hoping for my luck to change,i want some inner loins!!
  2. Besutiful morning here in 4F,sitting in an open tree, not much cover but i can see far. One antlerless snuch through in the distance,i am thinking about rattling or/and grunting some.
  3. Some might say that sun beating on your hypothalamus is making the rut even worse!!! Can't say i ever experienced anything like that...
  4. I will be out the morning with a buddy, then take a break and go back to his property in ag country until dark. One of us should get a shot at something,we both are looking for either sex deer,if it is big enough it is going down. Lots of tags in my pocket, and i just ate some breakfast sausage patties from 2 years ago, need more!!!!! Raaaaahhh, meat!!!!
  5. All you folks hitting the cap with the string must either have very long ATA's on your bows or very short arms, hehehe. I wouldn't know i can't wear ballcaps, they make me look retarded.
  6. Good luck all you happy hunters. I will try to make it happen tomorrow, all day hunt aside from running a few local errands, should only keep me out of the woods for 2 hrs.
  7. Don't burn yourself out yet, physically or mentally. I am excited again after not having hunted since Saturday.
  8. I went out last night for an hour to my field edge stand. First sit there,i bumped a little one out of the field. Just before dark deer were filtering into the field, but on the wrong side for me. Good intel for my next sit. There was a decent buck amongst the does and running them around a bit. I thought he might come to my grunts, but he didn't leave the does. I think i will set up inside the woods on that side of the field, lots of oaks in there and i think the deer stage in there before entering the field. I should have remembered that, they usually do when there are lots of acorns.
  9. I thought so. I was going to ask for lessons if you shot that buck on your first day out, haha. Welcome back
  10. I want something lighter than my climber..But prices for climbing sticks and a tree saddle are definitely not low.
  11. Also about tree saddles, they are supposed to be very comfortable. Some designs work better for some people than others, and i think they make an additional strap now too for more back support. You can take a nap with that on. This is not firsthand information as i don't own one yet,but hopefully soon. I am tired of lugging my summit climber around and to hunt for the right tree. Climbing sticks and a tree saddle will be my choice for the future.
  12. I didn't need a special breech plug when i switched. However,i did have to learn to pack the powder tight before putting my saboted bullet in to get good results. The blackhorn dors keep the muzzleloader much cleaner between shots and also for the big clean after using it. I went to lighted nocks this year because i wasn't able to follow my arrow well enough. They should give you no issue with a well tuned bow. That being said,i had to open my d loop a little because of the bigger nock diameter. That was all though.
  13. I am two out of three on your list of improvements. I went to blackhorn last year, lighted nocks this year, and i am thinking about a saddle set up for next year.
  14. Good luck to all you guys out there today! I may be able to get out this afternoon,i hope. Seems like a good morning to get a buck.
  15. Any updates @Gencountyzeek ? I think the exit hole might be plugged with fat,so no blood. You were in a tree i assume?
  16. Good luck to everybody out today. I am taking the day off from hunting,I need to recharge.
  17. I saw nothing on my afternoon sit. Frustrating after seeing deer every time out before this weekend. Not sure what they are up too these days. I may take a break tomorrow before i get bummed out. Gotta hunt hard next weekend and surely the one after that.
  18. Up in a tree for the evening sit I saw three does cross the field as i walked in,i didnt spook them and have been waiting for them to come back ever since. Bunch of oak trees around me and the chipmunks are going nuts, literally, hahaha.
  19. Saw nothing but a few turkeys in the distance and some chippies up really close. I had a feeling this a.m. was going to be a bust, and sadly i was right. Going to run some errands and then think about my afternoon approach. I did find a rubline, but have no clue what time of day that trail might be used. Looks like a good morning set up though.
  20. It is very bright here as well. The halfmoon is doing a fine job of lighting things up. Not sure where I will set up this a.m. and not having high hopes for movement,i bet the deer fed all night. But does that stop me from trying? Noooo way.
  21. You are so right, good problems to have. I didn't set out any cams this year so i am going in blind. The hilltops i hunt dont have a selection of bucks like you guys have in your area, but there usually is one bruiser around. Maybe more,i dont seem to catch up with them. I am going to give some stateland a try here as well. It starts on the Susquehanna river and goes up the whole ridge adjacent to it. There should be some good bucks on that...
  22. party time!! they invite all their distant relatives and stuff themselves like we do on Thanksgiving!
