  1. Deer can drop enough that even a shot at the lower 3rd will result in a miss or spine shot. And those chances increase as the distance grows. Everybody needs to decide for themselves what distance they consider safe in any different situation.
  2. Good luck to all that are out there. If the rain stops i will be out this afternoon, and definetely out tomorrow morning. Time for some venison folks!!
  3. I couldn't pull that off,i didn't think you were the restless kind hunting. Get in the blind, stay in the blind. I start doubting my spot choice if i don't see anything for several hrs.
  4. You can bet the farm that i will be in a stand saturday morning. Anyone who isn't and who is a bowhunter better have a good excuse.
  5. Went for a sit on the ground at a swamp edge. Got in by 6.10 and saw nothing. Very warm, and the deer were on their feet yesterday afternoon,in the fields already at 5 p.m. I think they are sleeping in today. It was awesome to be out and watch it get light out.
  6. I actually managed to sleep until 3.40. Great start to the season, and it looks like the rain just moved past this area as well..I should be dry for the first hour or two. It is finally here, good luck to everyone!
  7. The milkweed here in 4F is not ready yet. I am going rogue with cattails this early season. No purse for me,just because i dont have one.
  8. These last few days were the worst as far as the wait goes. It is finally over!! If i manage to sleep that is.
  9. I decided i will go out for the first hr of daylight. I am planning to be on the ground by a bedding area at 6. Should be an easy quiet trip in,i have to cross a dried up former beaver pond. There are wild apples around and a hay field to the north. The SW wind should be perfect for this set up. I can see a long way across the swamp,so at least i will get some intel about deer leaving the apple trees on the opposite side.
  10. Good to see a post by you, good luck this fall.
  11. I hope your wife is not on the forum,or its the doghouse for you, hahaha
  12. Wooohooo, corydd7 broke the ice! Awesome job,now the floodgates have opened.
  13. i feel the same way. I am trying to wait till friday, but i may not make it...that long.
  14. buckmaster is the no.1 on the move. I didn't realize bizzy was antsy too.
  15. Me either. I am playing it fast and loose this season. I will try to sit more, last year i had ants in my pants and moved a lot. I did see some bucks doing that, but got no shots at them.
  16. Haha,i felt the same way @turkeyfeathers,all kids there. At least for the gun education. There were a few adults at the bowhunter course i took, and one pretty girl.
  17. check out cores post in general hunting i think...
  18. I think about this starting in May or June. After the season closes close to christmas i don't even look at deer, but that only lasts a few months. Then in the summer the anticipation starts....
  19. Start one yourself if you have to...No problem, except for jealous people like me.
  20. huh? I got here late, who is beating his meat over a kardashian? By the way,i like the way your brain works biz.
  21. Friday and Saturday are looking real good. I am hoping for a doe before Sunday, then i can relax a little. Not that i am not relaxed, but i will be much more so with a doe in the freezer.
