    I would also think afternoon would be best,especially with the front coming in overnight and the full moon up all night. But i have not even seen a shooter buck yet this year,so take that into consideration about my advice.

    Blood from the mouth has got to be lung. I shot two does back this year,not one of them crashed while i watched. They didn't want to move at all. I think they both expired faster than I thought,but it doesnt hurt to back out for a little bit. The falling and crashing makes me think it is a dead deer. He may have gotten both lungs if he hit high and back,you know how they angle up. Back and low is not great,i know..

    Dont bash the folks sighting in their guns i have to send a few bullets through my ML for gun season to make sure it is on at 100 yds. I don't shoot at all during the year. I will probably do it on Thursday,better late than never!!

    I saw nothing this morning. This almost full moon has them bedded early i think because they chow down all night. Maybe afternoons are better? I will get some chores done today and be back at it tomorrow before the serious snow comes in,supposed to be overnight and 3-5 inches here.

    I am up. I would really like to get a buck with the bow. I will sit in a pinch point and hope to get one cruising this a.m. Oaks all around me,scrapes and rubs are there too. Just need the last ingredient. Good luck to you moho!!!

    I forgot about all of the latin i learned in high school. Had it for almost 9 years,that was worth it,haha. Does your county not have a tax map available online? That usually helps with getting property lines very close to the real thing,otherwise the same source should have compass readings for every property line. I agree with trying a nice approach first,you can always change your approach as needed.

    Hm,i thought there would be more harvests today. I saw a buck 200 yds from my driveway,i had some errands to run. Butchering the front shoulders of my doe right now,i may try for a buck later this afternoon...

    I have 2-3 " on my hill here near Cooperstown. Got most of it Thursday,but light flurries yesterday. I think we also are supposed to get more and keep it till gun opener,heck,maybe till spring.

    Thank you for this thread and your service. I think reading your posts helped me with my does this year. Both were not great shots,but i stayed calm after the fact,watched what they were doing and then got out of there and gave them time. It worked out in both instances,when in doubt back out. Neither of them went far,the 1st went maybe 120 yds from the hit site,the 2nd only 60 yds or so. I think i caught a lung on that one,i thought it was all guts by the looks of the arrow. So thank you for all the good info you put out here.

    That is backwards @Swamp_bucks. Get yourself some smartwool longjohns and a thermal shirt,that should be your first layer..Wicks moisture and keeps you warm. It is always my toes and hands that get cold first.

    I got my 2nd doe. I made a shot worse than on my last doe and had to leave this one overnight. Luckily she didn't go far,it was at the edge of a pretty thick area where i shot her. She about crawled under this uprooted tree. I could just see a little brown patch on the hole. I am happy she didn't go far and the coyotes didn't get her,but i did. She is a good size doe and will hopefully get along with the other one in the freezer. I am going to butcher her right now.

    Things are definetely heating up. Before i shot the doe three younger deer were racing past me,chasing is happening. I walked past a freshened scrape dragging my doe out. We got some snow around 8 a.m. and there was not a flake in the scrape around noon.

    Got my doe,i am not sure how. Look what she crawled into... I just about stepped on her. She only went 60 yds from hit site. I am getting good at finding deer with poor shot placement i wish i didn't have to. Better pics later...

    I am about to go after my doe. Almost 17 hrs since the shot. I hope she didn't go far.

    Go get one @Robhuntandfish,and all the other warmly dressed hunters. Hopefully i will be warm dragging my doe out. I think we didn't get much more snow overnight,so maybe i can get on her track instead of grid searching right away. Deer will be on their feet today for sure.

    I have had terrible luck lately making a good shot. I have never stopped a deer with a bleat but am thinking of trying it,cant be worse than my current results. What do you guys do?
