When it's super loud it may be me when I shoot. Then it's like 12" away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. How much did you till? Did you actually disk it or just loosen it all up with a rake? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Personal loan or home equity loan and through a credit union. That's the way to go. You have to pay off the loan when you sell your current house though if you do home equity. Personal loan you can do with very little down and home equity requires nothing down. Also advise the credit union or on home equity your plans with the land and that you are going to improve it. 4. Go to Di cks sporting goods and get yourself the decimator arrows. they are on sale now for $20. They are great arrows to start slinging with. you wont be as afraid of breaking or losing them. great for the price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I have been looking as well. We are about a year and a half away from buying (need that daycare money back in my pocket). Wife is totally on board. We are looking at 40-50 acres. Going to hold it as recreational property and pay it off for about 15 years. Then we will both be retiring, selling the current house and building the retirement home on it. Wife gave the ok to do what I please for hunting on it as well. Everything is so expensive in my area though. We are just looking at areas and taxes and stuff as well. Kids will be out of school by the time we make the move so that's a bonus. Good luck in your land hunt. Don't forget to check taxes. Land may be cheaper but higher taxes in some areas. And remember, taxes never go down. The payment will but the taxes won't. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Nice to dream. Nice to dream. I would move the family to Ohio and buy a 400 acre piece put a nice house on it and hire Jim Ward to come in and set it up. Other then that I would hook up family, let the wife take vacations wherever she wants and live life. Put the rest in the bank for the kids and family long down the road. Heck. I could do this with a few million, I'm not greedy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Please post a pic or send it to me in the messenger. I'm very interested to see how it is doing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. You guys have any thoughts on the BioLogic Hot Spot seed. I have a bag of Antler King Slam Dunk but I'm thinking while I'm out in the woods putting that down I'll throw down a spot of the Hot Spot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. All of them! I made the mistake last year of showing friends pics I got and I learned the hard way. People wouldn't stop bugging me to bring them with me to my spots. Don't do the homework for other people. I go out and put my time and money in. They should do the same. I now keep my photos pretty secret ( I show family including my brothers and my dad and some of them don't even hunt). I keep the photos off Facebook and I haven't shown off some of the good pics I got already this year. Nor do I tell everyone what I have been up to. I keep it pretty vague. I tell them I put some food plots in but not where or what. Just enough to have conversation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I'm not affiliated or promoting in any way. Just actually curious. Anybody have any experience with the S4 jackknife bow mount? It's on sale right now for $19.99 on their website. I'm debating on grabbing one but wondering how it works wth an otter box on the phone. I watched some videos and read some reviews with mixed results. Normal price online is $45 but it's normally $32 on eBay. Here is a photo. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Wow! Keep him a secret. Don't tell your friends about him! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Sounds about perfect for timing. I look back every year at all my trail camera photos. I have found out 3 major things by looking back and studying the photos. First, the October lull is a myth. I have bucks moving in October. Second, hunt more afternoons, those bucks do move mid-day between 11am and 1pm. Third, the big bucks are moving around Nov 10-14th. There are bucks I have never seen before then that appear on camera. That is the time to sit all day. They are on the move and they are at all different times. Get in the woods, pick a trail and sit still. The bucks will come wether you have been on them all year or not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Also depends on which weapon you like best. I'm a die hard bow hunter so I prefer the peak of the rut with the bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I just think that the opening week of gun season in southern zone is about 5-7 days too late and you miss primetime. I know more people are in the woods moving deer around but I think that previous week is a little better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Wow!! What do you do for work? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I have 13 days left to use this year. I'm planning it all now and spacing it out this year instead of taking a huge block together. How do you guys do it? I have weekends off (which is good and bad) so I'm going to take some fridays, few around Halloween, November 9-13 and a few other extras in there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Be patient and give it time. It's August. Deer are held up and close to food right now. Don't get discouraged yet. I have one spot that all I have gotten is does and fawns. But the bucks will be there come fall. I got no bucks last summer and the bucks were there in the hunting season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I'm with ya on my first attempt. I put clover in and about the same size plot. I'm in the same boat as no way I could get equipment back where I put mine. I used a steal rake and went to town. Mine is about 60 yards long and about 15-20 foot wide. I put in clover. I timed it pretty good as I put it in Sunday and we got rain 24 hours or so later. Hopefully it takes off. Here is a pic. I didn't get a before though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I have 2 sets to get out and 1 more fall food plot of Antler King Slam Dunk to get in the ground. Other than that just check some cams at the end of August and let it all roll. I'll get stands up in a few weeks before September. Then I let everything settle all of September. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I have named 2. I have "Short Stack" because he has a real low profile rack and the other I call "South Paw" because his left side is bigger then his right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Still velvet. Young deer and skinny rack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks fellas for the input. Makes me feel better. I gotta just calm down and relax. I know it will come. I did have quite a bunch of does and fawns on one camera. All at night though. But I just gotta relax and let it happen. I know the area is good and I have some real good sign in the area and runways. I did put out some Smokeys lure for my mock scrape and it's not getting activity at all yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I did get the bucks on camera real early in June so I think it's just they are on the summer pattern and will return to home range here soon. I'm not too concerned. I did get photos of 2 bucks earlier in June that I was chasing in this area last year so I k ow they are alive and well. I'm sure they will be around. That's an owl in that pic in the lower corner. It's also a deer runway. It crosses a creek about 20 feet behind the camera and is torn up with deer tracks. I have gotten 1 fox on that trail as well. Here is what it looks like about 20 feet behind the camera. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Yeah. I hear ya. I'm not worried yet. Looking back to last season I didn't have much buck activity at all until late August to mid September. That's when I started getting them on camera. I'm in a good agricultural area so there is food everywhere. I know I'm on a good fall pattern. Just amazed at the run ways in seeing that are mud runways and not much deer sign on them right now. Look at the runway to the right side of this photo and I only got about 4-5 deer on that trail in the past 2 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I was on some bucks and had some photos then the last card pull I got skunked. I got some does and some activity so I k ow if the does are there the bucks will be too but they became ghosts. Totally elusive. Didn't help that my best camera set was pointed too far up in the air and got 0 photos (new stealth cam I'm getting used to). But I managed to put a micro plot in is PlotSpike Clover. Hopefully I timed it right and it turns out good. I'm gonna get in a bag of Slam Dunk in a about 2 weeks as well. Hopefully the bucks show back up. The corn is up around head height it a little taller. Good tracks on the edge of the cornfield. Maybe they have taken some cover in there. Here is the micro plot I got in today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
